The direct control over metal is a talent hard to learn since it is something crafted and rarely just found. Though the idea of directly manipulating it is viable you will need to have many hours of practice to bend a spoon let alone alter metal from the earth or around you.

the character has great potential...and have you ever been hit by a dart thats a foot long?...those are used to hunt monkey hehe. i belive that the character will start off underpowered but will even out.

I doubt that, considering the ability to simply duck or protect oneself a mere dart will either run out after a very short time or simply prove inneffective.
Ex:
Flame-seared skin: Hardened skin from the burns.
Rock wall: Self explanatory.
Repulse: Wind blast would screw up a projectile
Ice armor: Hard to pierce
Shadow displacement: The projectile would simply alter its course
Holy shield: Would just bounce harmlessly.

These are all taught to you in the first year.

Also, what if the darts were ticked out with his element somehow? Like if he was light, it would go incredibly fast, if he was dark, it would be nearly invisible or be able to pass through defences or something.

Here we go, and old friend returning once more for round three of Elemental Academy. My first year student however is still in the works.

Teacher Character Sheet

Name: Gideon Fell

Age: 24

Appearance: Gideon, standing at a full 6’8’’ is a mountain of a man. If ever there were someone who looked as if they could wrestle a mountain lion and win, that would be Gideon. His body is well defined as if from years of hard spartan training, his skin is bronzed and rough, yet his muscles are not overly large. Despite his young age Gideon is completely bald except for his eyebrows which are black and bushy. Gideon appears in simple brown pants a white shirt and an unbuttoned red vest. He also wears a pair of brown sandals at times but frequently goes barefoot.

Element: Earth

Weapon: Weapon of Choice: Gideon wields a long poleaxe that is as long as Gideon is tall. The shaft of the weapon is dark brown in color, almost black, and is made of black ironwood. The poleaxe itself is made from very strong tempered steel. It has an axe blade on the front of the weapon, a hammer on the reverse and is topped by a short pike.

Personality: Gideon is a genuine stoic, remaining serious and composed at all times. He is also thoughtful and contemplative, preferring to guide his students to their own discoveries about their powers and how to use them effectively rather than simply lecture. On the other hand he also isn’t afraid to push his students to their limits and well beyond. The man lives a utilitarian lifestyle and believes in and follows a strict regimen of discipline for body mind and spirit. Gideon understands the importance of balance amongst the elements and the role they play in life but also holds great reverence towards Mother Earth. From the Earth came all of life as we know it and as such much be respected along with all its inhabitants
