The dress shirt, he wears is dark blue and around his neck is a black ribbon tie with a dark brown vest. His hat is a dark blue fedora. Attached to his belt is holsters for his guns. Its at that point, Leon enjoys a good fight and it is at that point the fight becomes a last man standing kind of fight.

Magick:

Leon possesses supernatural powers, classifying him as a honest to god, psychic. Through, not many are aware of this fact due to the subtly of his powers and his intelligence. His success as a merchant is due to his psychic powers of Psychometry and Dowsing. With Psychometry, by making contract with a person and/ or object, he can obtain information about it. This information, can be current thoughts and biological functions for a person, knowing how to use an object, what it is made out of, how well it was made, and so on as long as he makes contract. The man at the time was down to wielding a dagger and a six-shooter. His name was Leon Borren and this was the final battle between the two.

The hammer of the six-shooter clocked back. " Come get some." Leon remarked with a cocky smirk. The polar bear charged forward with a loud roar.

_INN_

" Where is Mister Borren?" Chester Vongola questioned as he entered the INN of the Dragon's Breath. He was a reporter of a local newspaper. He got wind of the wealthy merchant's plan of a vacation around these parts . " No clue, he was suppose to arrive yesterday. " Stacy Rosewell, the owner of the inn, answered. "Through, I thought, I told you to say away from him, when he gets here, Chester. " Stacy lectured at the newspaper reporter .

"You're kidding me, Stacy. we're talking about one of the rich merchants of Icilee, whose seemingly popped out of nowhere." Chester argued with Stacy. " Are you seriously telling me to back off?!" He said as he growing louder by the minute.

A head of a polar bear crashed into a wall of the inn, startling both Chester and Stacy. " Eat my dogs, will you?!" A strange man screamed as he entered the inn. He pointed at the head and shouted " I got three words for you, buddy, BEAR!!! STREAKS!!!! YEAH!!!!" His shout was more of a roar, that spooked some of the passerby s. He started to breath heavily as he looked at the bear head. He suddenly turned his head to Stacy and Chester. Chester back away to hit the countertop. The strange man took a deep breath and then spoke calmly " Hi, my name is Leon Borren. I'm hoping, I still have a room."

WIP

Name: San'kau Hazards

Age: 28

Gender: Male

Race: Man-kin

Nationality: His mother is a second generation Sophya Gyspy and his father is from Xephamor. Though he was born and raised in Sophya

Standing: He has a mild dislike of the Mek empire however its eclipsed by his hatred of Icilee.

Profession/Role: There is no official title for the types of jobs he does. The best description would be Rouge, Bandit or Informant. He does numerous jobs like extortion, information trading, theft and recovery. He can play both sides with little conflict. One day helping the local authorities and the very next day hosting a robbery of his own. He specializes in information though,

Appearance: His true appearance is that of a moderately tall male . Standing at 5 feet 11 inches, San'kau appears shorter than he actually is because he hunches down in an effort to divert attention from himself. His build is lithe, his body is fairly well muscled in conjunction with his rather thin build compounds his shrinking image making him look even smaller when he tries. His skin is a deep dark color inherited from his mother and the unrelenting sun beating down over the Sophyan deserts. There are two slash marks on the right side of his face right below his eye. He sports a small goatee that he prides himself in keeping neat and tidy.

What would be considered ironic or rather foolish by those who haven't lived in Sophyan, San'kau clothing tends to be a bit heavier than what is expected. A long gray duster jacket and trilby hat. They are aged by time and the dust and sand from the desert constantly beating down on his clothes. Below them his clothing is substantially lighter, a simply dust colored tunic with a hawk emblem and dark cotton pants. People with attention to detail will notice the constant almost hidden mends in his clothing.

A rusted silver Livery collar hangs around his neck. Despite its shabby appearance embedded in the center is a 5 carat Alexandrite. On each hand a similar bracelet rests.

Weapons/Equipment:

Alexandrite jewelery in addition to being extremely expensive family heirlooms, is a stone that host quite a bit magical power due to its structure and chemistry.

Links: Chain Daggers that have thin yet sturdy chains that allow the blades to extend a maximum of 15 feet. However extending them that far tends to reduce the effectiveness and accuracy of the weapon in addition to that fact that simply forcing the blades to extend that far requires an excessive amount of force and at that point makes the blades generally worthless at that range unless expertly handled. The blade will automatically retract when the handle is pulled back.

Personality:Many fall for his outward guise of being kindly and trusting. He is however not cunning and constantly plotting, San'kau is a man that doesn't believe in the traditional values of morality and ethics. Rather for him morals are based on whether or not he'll survive to see another day or not. Its all about whether or not he feels like following the niceties of societies which for the most part tends to be a no. He's a loaded die following the whims and wishes of life that benefit him. A non practicing Sulist doesn't necessarily conform to their ways, but doesn't go out of his way to defy their structure and way of life.

Magick:

Retrocognition: Be it from magic from his gypsy background or psychic ability that merely mutated. San'kau has a form of Clairvoyance known as retrocognition. Allowing him to see the past in various levels, depending on the type of information necessary. For the most part he merely see shadowy images in the present that reenact the past. The vision can expand into fool episodic flash backs that allow him to experience everything that happened at that point and time.

Refraction: A simple light spell that many over that allows users to bend and distort light and images. However when combined with a reflective surface or filtered through a prism it can cast a minor illusion spell that causes anyone as long as they look at it to see what the user wishes. When combined with the magical energies of the alexandrite, its effect is magnified so that its not merely those who look at the object that are put under the influence, but looking at anything within 4 feet of the jewels radius . Its an extremely subtle spell that even those looking for it generally tend to miss it. Its a spell that he almost always has constantly active, even when he sleeps.

Hobbies:

Sleeping, Cardgames, Hustling, Gambling, Reading, Stealing and Talking with women

History:
The oldest fraternal twin from a Xephamoran father and Gyspy mother growing up in Sophya. San'kau and his sister pretty much had to deal with shit from the very beginning for his heritage. While he and his sister where general sparred the actual beatings and name callings, they were constantly treated with distrust and faux politeness. As the siblings grew older the families outcasting lessened, however they were generally treated little better than actual outsiders looking.

When it was discovered that siblings were gifted with a form of clairvoyance they found themselves ushered into the Sulidist temples. It during the test San'kau was deemed unworthy, his sister however was found to be one of great and many redeeming qualities and was ushered into the temples for her training.

Unwilling to return home, San'kau instead decided to live on his own. Finding that his once thought of as worthless ability of retrocognition was actually useful when it came to dealing with information, especially finding extorting , San'kau had little trouble to adapting to life on his own.

Life was good for the rouge. However his past dealings created quite a few enemies and deeming it not worth the risk to simply hid in plan sight he sought virgin land. Where his name was relatively unknown. Shifting to a new country every couple of years San'kau finds himself in Mek, just after
completing another "job"

I'm going to be giving back feedback tomorrow on the new CSs folks. It's too late at the moment. But I must say this:

I smell CONFLICT.

On another note: Damn, there's a lot of neutral/indifferent folks here. It's a good thing we have some characters that are for the Mekian Empire as well as Couch's anti-Mekian journalist. I shall make many "journalism saves the day again" jokes in the future.

Epic character is epic :3

This actually made me chuckle. Because it's true!

@Kemious: So far, he looks like he's going to be a swell source of conflict. And I LOVE his illusionary powers. Seriously, it's perfect. And you have a nice description of the mechanics behind it as well.

Name: Mykhailo Caspari, but everyone calls him "Myka"

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Race: Man-kin

Nationality: Gypsy from Terrantula

Standing: Neutral Against-- he likes things just the way they are, but won't complain so long as it doesn't influence him. ("If it ain't broken, don't fix it," mentality.)

Profession/Role: Sailor

Appearance: Myka stands at five feet and five inches, and is built like a whipcord-- he'd look like a kid if it wasn't for his masculine face and prominent musculature. His hair is a dark brown and bears a noticeable curl, so he keeps it cropped close to his skull. His eyes are a shade darker than burnt orange, but too bright to be classified as "brown".
-----He always smells faintly of the sea but, given his occupation, he's actually uncommonly clean. His hands are calloused yet deft, and he's quite agile from climbing all over his ship. Bronzed skin from numerous days under the sun's unrelenting rays. He has five piercings, two in his left ear and three in his right. Identical, tribal band tattoos encircle his well-muscled forearms. His most noticeable scars are a knick on his right eyebrow and a slash on his left cheek. He has a few other scars here and there, from his job and from fights, but none are as prominent. Myka's constantly smiling, and he's a rather spirited guy, no matter the time of day.
-----Myka isn't too keen on clothes, and therefore tries to dress as lightly as possible. Aboard his ship, he'll run about barefoot and garbed only in his trousers. However, on-land he "dresses up better". He has a pair of very worn black leather boots, baggy brown trousers with drawstrings at the ankles (to fasten at the knee), a loose white linen shirt that ties at the wrists and laces down the front, a fat leather belt, and two red sashes (one of which can serve as a headscarf). If he wants to get really fancy (or if it's insanely cold) he owns a long, blue coat. In simplest terms, he looks like a pirate.

Weapons/Equipment:
-compass
-gully (dagger)
-dirk (knife)
-cutlass (sword)
-pistol
-currency pouch

Personality: Myka is sharp-tongued and smart, the impulsive type of man that will leap without looking. Sometimes, it seems he has no sense of self-preservation because he gets such a thrill out of living on the edge. Like any good sailor, he loves a good time, a good drink, women, and gambling. He's never been too skilled at mincing his words, but his morals are decent in their own twisted ways. Myka doesn't take promises lightly, and if he gives someone his word, he'll keep it. He has his own loyalties, but in some cases can be bribed if he isn't that attached to this other person. Fickle. Not very cultured, maybe even crude. Thick-skinned yet prideful, Myka tends to either work on his own or place himself as a leader in any group he joins-- he's stubborn and competitive.

Magick: None.

Hobbies: drinking, gambling, sleeping, swimming, taking long walks, making time with the ladies, fighting, partying, adventures, singing (actually decent at singing), dancing (horrible at dancing), sailing, going on adventures, and getting into trouble (it happens so often, it's become a hobby)

History: Mykhailo was the fourth and final child of Cyrek and Desirae Caspari. His brothers were Tab, Fox, and Dillon, and each of them (Myka included) were taught te ways of the sea before they could walk. They lived on the largest Terrantulan island, the one which was closest to the mainland, along the southern coast. The Caspari men proudly held the reputation for being the quickest and most reliable trading vessel between Faelee and Terrantula (and, occasionally, Sophya), and were actively used in said trade route for various kinds of goods. If business was slow, the Caspari men would take up the role as fishermen or escorts for people as well as goods. Because of they're notoriety that had lasted over they years, the Caspari men did a very decent business, and had a hefty sum of money behind their family name.
-----Though they had plenty of money, Mykhailo was never content. He enjoyed the life at sea and the taste of adventure, but he had always had wilder dreams. He wanted to travel the world and hunt for treasure, just like the pirates he heard about in the stories that his grandfather told. It was a dishonorable aspiration, for a sailor, and such goals angered Myka's father. And, Myka could never bring himself to leave his mother to go on such a voyage. So, for a time, he dismissed those thoughts.
-----Mykhailo enjoyed his time in Faelee, which bore mystery and wonder for the aspiring adventurer. Though they did business for many people, the only people that Myka can remember was the DeVrie family. The DeVrie family was a family of merchants for whom Cyrek often did business. He would take their goods and sell them in Terrantulan marketplaces, and recieve a healthy amount of profit, as well as room and board while they were in Faelee on business. The DeVrie's had two wonderful children, a son and a daughter, named Celeste and Alek. Mykhailo and Alek became good friends, and have remained friends since then. (They've been friends for nearly eighteen years now.)
-----Though they were different, the three children enjoyed playing together, and Myka enjoyed the freedom of being able to tell Alek and Celeste anything without being judged. He confessed to them his dreams of adventure and treasure hunting, a dream that they also shared. They would spend days pretending to be pirates, robbers, and other such rogues. And, when business was done in Faelee, the Caspari's would return to Terrantula. And, each time, Myka would promise to come back, and that next time they'd go off on a real adventure together.
-----Over the years, many things changed. Each of the Caspari sons inherited their own boats, their father retired, and their mother passed on. Upon Cyrek's retiring, Tab inherited the business (as he was the eldest son) and their father's boat. Their business expanded, with the addition of more boats, and began to service other countries as well as Faelee and Sophya. Myka's desire for adventure, however, perservered, and he'd occasionally do some "small errands" for a very rough crowd. (This crowd also paid very well, hence Myka's service.)
-----Because of the esteem of Terrantula's schools, Alek DeVrie came to Terrantula to further his education in "science". He resided on campus during the week, but spent weekends living with the Caspari's. He seemed to have given up on his childhood dreams, as had his sister, and Myka was gradually growing to settle for the life of a sailor. He delivered goods just as he had many years prior, and acted as a courier between Alek and his family when business took him to Faelee. It wasn't until recently that Myka began to hope for greater.
-----Alek's talent in science was noticed by Meka, and he was invited to come there on an internship. In need of an escort, he requested the aid of Mykhailo, and offered him a very healthy payment for his services. Myka accepted this offer, as a friend, and by doing so agreed to take his friend to Meka and offered his services as a bodyguard of sorts. (Alek's lived a very sheltered life, and needs someone to look after him every now and again.) With this opportunity at hand, Myka vows to make the most of it.

Postby sam4books » Tue Aug 03, 2010 4:22 pm

That's a good question :)

When this idea was first created it was gold and silver pieces, but now that it had matured over the years I've been developing a paper money system with coins since this is the Dark Ages, and Meka is an empire.

And due to me being American and having no prior knowledge of any other currency other than the British Currency (the old one), it sort of became based off of it.

Here it is (the currency was developed by the Mekian Empire and probably used by Icilee before hand. Sophyans used a sort of Roman Empire-like currency, as for Xephamor...never quite got around that one):

Mekian Empire Currency Table

100 pennies (these guys are so popular in real life, why not in fantasy) = 1 talor (a silver coin which can also be identified as paper money as in one 1 talor bill)

2 talors = one 2 talor bill

5 talors = one 5 talor bill

10 talors = one 10 talor bill

100 talors = one 100 talor bill

There's also 500, 1000, 5000, 10000, and 100000 talor bills, just like they used to have these in America, but they are out of circulation :| These talor bills however, still are.

Now for the coins. As I said, 100 pennies = 1 talor.

5 pennies = 1 nicker (yeah, it's horrible, I know. I was thinking nickel and just shortening it to nick, but I realized nicker sounds better, the British knew this apparently. Honestly I think we should call nickels nickers, but then I guess people will take it the wrong way)

20 nickers = 1 talor

10 pennies = 1 chim (For some reason, I prefer "chim" to "dime" even though it has nothing to do with money)

10 chims = 1 talor

25 pennies = 1 quarter (We had the right idea when calling 25 pennies a quarter, so I'm not changing it.)

4 quarters = 1 talor

50 pennies = 1 haytalor (I like using the word "hay" in place of "half", it just sounds cool. Why call a half-a-penny a halfpenny when you can just call it a haypenny?)

2 haytalors = 1 talor

There is also the haypenny in case anyone wanted to know, because haypennies are awesome.

FUN FACT#1: Apparently the word "dollar" is deprived from "talor" which is in turn deprived from "Joachimsthal" which is apparently a city in Bohemia where the silver coin was used (talor) was first used. *shrugs* At least that's what I found out on Google. I also got "chim" from the city's name because it was too awesome to ignore. Chim!

FUN FACT#2: For the sake of the funnies, people in Rathya like to call people who aren't worth anything "Chimmers", just like that "worth a dime" phrase! Feel free to insult other people with this term.

So is this a global currency used by everyone, or are there other currencies still in circulation? Also if the former how long has the talor been in use globally as opposed to more distinct national currencies?

Since the end of the war the talor's would have been in circulation globally although people still use the old circulations in certain parts of certain nations. Most allies of Sophya tend to use its circulation since Sophya actually used to be an empire back in its haydays. Also, Zorron would've used Sophya's currency back when it wasn't so independent, but then they sort of changed it to match Icilees and later Meks after declaring their independence, just to piss off the king. Xephamor has their own currency which is only used by them and perhaps Orrlee too, although traditionally Orr-kins have been known to be a bartering society.

I'll probably have to look up the old Roman Currency in order to explain Sophya's currency.

And I STILL don't know what kind of currency Xephamor would have. I'll probably go Byzantine Empire or something since there was a great schism between them and Sophya. It would make sense.

Bartering was used by the civilizations before the Sophyan Empire as well, so that would work considering the Gypsies are descended from those civilizations :)

Excellent, that and gypsies are supposed to not be too fond of money and a lot more of bartering and the like.

Is "chim" said like this: Heem, or like this: kim.
Or maybe like this: Chim(as in chimpanzee)?
