Im so tired of emo poetry. So quickly...A LYMRICK (sp?!) from my High School days.

I was running away from a mime
Who kept trying to ask me the time
I put him in a box
Used real steal and real locks
And now I have quiet sublime.

Added after 3 minutes:

Oh I guess its limerick.

I'm just wondering, I'm bad at limericks, but what exactly is the form for them? I know that it's supposed to rhyme, but is there a certain form for them like sonnets?

Limerick: You should be able to "sing" it in this rhythm:

Da-DA-da da DA da da Da da,
Da DA da da DA da da DA da,
Da DA da da da,
Da DA da da da,
Da DA da da DA da da DA da.

And the rhyme scheme is
A
A
B
B
A

IE,

There once was a forum called Snafu,

The rhyme is totally right..>I think there is an actual form to the words like Unemphasizedword EMPHASIZEDWORD over and over for each line
but I could be wrong.

Still...just wanted some poetry that wasnt angsty.

O M G.

You actually made a poem and it didnt' suck. It made me laugh. And that feel wrongs. my whole world is crumbling around me. The absolute law that poetry is emo has been broken. I feel like my whole world is a lie.

Poetry is only emo if you suck.
I mean, if a person calls W.B. Yeats's romance poems, like "When you are Old," emo, that person can only be characterized as uncultured.

MORE NON EMO POETRY!!!
This one set to the meter and rhyme of the old woman who lived in a shoe...for the most part.

When I am an old man,
I know what I'll do;
I'll move into retirement,
With all of their minds, I'll screw.
I'll switch their dentures,
and hide all the beds;
I'll spray paint "I LOVE YOU",
On all of their heads

There was a young man from Gosham,
Who took out his bollocks to wash'em,
His wife said Jack,
If you don't put them back,
I'll stand on the bastards and squash'em.

I once went to a poetry convention (stfu, I actually like to write stuff lol) and someone HONESTLY said,

"But how can it be poetry if it's not about clouds and rainbows?"

^^^ DEADLY SERIOUS

I think I nearly shot myself in the face.

Vis: Totally classic. Good job man.

Spike: I'd say if its about rainbows and clouds...its more like drippy words. To me poetry, REAL poetry is about using words in a clever way (why meter and rhyme is so important) which is why I could never figure out why poetry wasn't a more humor based type of literature. But I mean there are people out there who are famous for awesome HUMOROUS poetry (like Dr. Seuss).

I love funny poetry. My favourite is introspective, or observational poetry though.

And I love literary devices in poetry. Anyone who can master that wins at life.
