Help me pick a color scheme for her! I want 3-4 colors.

I want one of them to be orange.

I don't know about the rest, but I think her hair should be orange.

I could think of some colors, but I'd like to research into different hues than a simple primary or complimentary color. Do you have an idea of what her ethnicity be? Even fictional ones. It'll help. Also if she belongs to a current class or group, like assassins or royalty. Basically, her own character could really determine what the best color scheme be. Of course, I'll keep your orange in mind if or when you can give me something to work from.

@Keeper:This is actually an older version of one of my OC's, who still have no color scheme. Once she turned 16 she inherited her families royal position. Her family was split up after a brutal attack by another clan, and she was adopted by my OC (Garsna). At this age she is working on bringing her family back together. She's a 9-tailed Kitsune, btw

Considering her half-human outlook, I may paint her skin black or slightly-dark purple combining with yellow eyes.
The kitty skin with bright eye color will look hot (nm hm~)

Well if you're going to have orange, whatever you do don't go for red.
Having something like a yellow might be nice, but a gold-ish yellow. Or gold. But only in small amounts. Purple I could see working, or green. But really as the other guys have said, it depends on the shade/hue. My advice is to just experiment with different colours, and see which ones you like best.

@Sam1027: Hehe. I think I may stick with a human skin tone, with hues of orange and blue for the shading. I might put some patterning on her skin....but since much isn't visible I'll experiment with it.

@BL: I'm getting a lot of recommendations for green with the orange. I really enjoy that combination, I just don't want her to look like a carrot XD That's why I want 2 more colors, but green will for sure be the second color.

@Doctress Who: I didn't plan on going with red. A bit to aggressive, and I don't like it paired with orange because they are so close together on the color wheel. I'm not the biggest fan of gold, but I'll experiment with it. I think I may include purple since it works so well with both orange and green. And thank you, I'm not quite sure of myself when it comes to my drawings and character designs. ^^;

I'm still standing by my suggestion of muted warm colors with some small green portions to make things pop.
Green eyes, orange hair, and maybe slightly dark skin might work well.
But then again, I'm no expert on color.

Once I get the line art finished I plan on posting it and I wanna see ya'll color it. I'll still color it myself....but I'm curious about how everyone else would color it if they got the chance. But it may take a bit, I'm gonna be busy for a while. ^^;

I actually did some tidbit research and discovered kitsunes have various colors for their clans. Since you affiliate yours with orange, it could mean she's a Time kitsune of the Time clan. Anywho, did you happen to have a total count for her tails? Because it's said when a kitsune has gained its ninth tail, its fur (I suppose her hair and/or eyes, in this case.) turns a silver, white, or gold. Sadly, if you're looking for mythological accuracy, she couldn't have those colorations, unless she's gained all nine tails; usually signifying her every thousands of years of living per tail. I did look deeper into green and found Emerald green interesting. The color is well toned, but it also remarks people who have emerald auras are "capable of versatility, ingenuity, and resourcefulness, applied unselfishly". Personally, I could see her with either a pale skin tone or a bright tanish tone. If she isn't a nine tailed kitsune, her hair look lovely with either a wheat or ochre color. It just has a soothing appearance, but either one probably do better with a skin tone matched to their differences in brightness. Generally, foxes have a sharp, slightly dark hue of gold tone in their irses. I suppose your kitsune could have the same. So I've narrowed it down, based on my suggestions, the colors could be: orange and emerald green for her clothes, wheat or ochre for her hair, pale skin or bright tanish skin, slightly dark gold irises. Now, if your kitsune is one with nine tails, she could have either silver, white, or gold hair and eyes, if you're thinking of sticking to the myth of kitsune, and had already planned to have all her nine tails. Also I'm open to anyone revising what I suggested. I did my research but I won't be throwing that around like some know-it-all. Anywho, I hope that helps, Garsna. After all, I like kitsunes. :3

EDIT: Lol. I just re-read she's a nine-tailed kitsune. Kudos then! You can apply either silver, white, or gold colors to her eyes and hair, if you desire to.

@BL: Kitsune = japanese word for fox. It's used like neko when talking about anthropomorphized animals, and though I don't know what the hell keeper was saying either, I do know foxes have a lot of mythology attached to them in japanese culture.

Basically he's saying these things:

One tail on a fox demon == 1 thousand years it's been alive (9 tails == 9,000 yrs alive)

The predetermined colors are just normal colors that are used in mythology. If you have ever seen Yu Yu Hakusho, for example, Yoko Kurama is a silver theme because he is a fox themed demon.

And if you hadn't noticed in anime, and other pictures/shows/blah/ect.....color really is determined by a character's personality and such, or vis versa

Side not for everyone: I like kitsunes because my last name is Fox, and I have friends that call me Kitsune. =D

Hmm...Garsna i am really confused in your drawings.

Not confused in the sense that your drawings dont make any sense but with the art style.

You seem to try to combine anime and realism in the same picture but i dont really think that works.
The characters have a touch of realism and a touch of japanese art style but i dont think they are
perfected (through thats just my opinion)

Try practising that a little and maybe it will look better in futute drawings.

Never the less i am in intrigued for what your trying to accomplish.

I am looking forward to more drawings :3
