Meh...it's okay in my opinion. I wouldn't say it was particularly amazing, but it certainly wasn't bad. Pretty decent.

Actually, those people who join and post in a single topic in the news forum usually, unlike what you think, first register, then look for a topic. Considering the news sub forum is the top most sub forum, and the amount of users that join every day, it happens every so often, and makes it look like they joined just to say that.
