This was a "short" story I wrote for my English class, but it could also be considered a fanfiction for the anime "Chobits." But very loosely. For one thing, its set in New York and the background of the creation of persocoms is completely different. Tell me what you think!

Prologue: The Advancement of Technology and the Creation of Persocoms
By the year 2100, technology will have become more advanced than anyone from our own time could have imagined. From the 21st century on, technology has flourished, bringing forth new inventions that allow for easier living on the behalf of human beings. Some of these new products are solely for entertainment, like the pocket-sized game station, while some are for more practical uses, such as the portable telephone that allows one to talk to anyone from anywhere. But all these new technologies pale in comparison to the newest generation of personal computers.
These computers, otherwise known as persocoms, can do virtually anything its owner wants. Cooking, cleaning, paying bills, you name it, the persocom can do it all. But what makes them so different from other computers is their shape. Persocoms are built to look like human beings. Their outward appearance resembles real people so strongly that someone who has never seen one before could swear that it was just another human.
The world’s first persocom was created in Tokyo, Japan by Dr. Yuki Murakami in the year 2013. It took 10 long years of nonstop work and research on Dr. Murakami’s part, and resulted in one of the most advanced AI units of the time. Murakami’s persocom was built in the shape of a young girl and went by the name of Amaterasu, after the Japanese god of the sun who was created by the King of the Gods. When asked why he built Amaterasu in the shape of a woman, Murakami answered simply, “Staring at a bright screen all day can damage the eyes and give a major headache,â€
