I sketch and ink by hand, but then I scan the lineart and color it in Paint Shop Pro. Earlier colored pages were done in colored pencil, though.

Before anyone asks, the eyes aren't an error... I'm probably going to do away with the slit-pupils for the reboot, as it made her look too cat-like.

This version of Kurika is somewhat different. Whereas the Kurika in the current comics is loud, spunky, and easily angered, this one is much quieter and more introverted, while still retaining her hostility towards strangers and aggressive nature.

One problem I always had was that, considering her past and solitary lifestyle, Kurika seemed to get used to Riser very quickly and generally seems too outgoing. This version still bears the scars of her past, both literally and figuratively. She has a somewhat nervous disposition, and tends to lash out at people who get too close or touch her, even in a non-threatening way. She rarely speaks unless she considers the person to be worth her time. She has a tendency to collect/steal anything that catches her interest, and spends much of her time looking through garbage for interesting things.

One of the major themes of Part 1 will be the growing friendship between Riser and Kurika. Each one sees something in the other that draws them together, and over time they form an almost familial bond with one another.
