I'd say, a new concept for DB, seeing as it's sci-fi to its fullest. Only that cosplay for Piccolo sucks. It might have worthy fight scenes, but apart from that one, most of it will probably suck. I see how they tried to change the plotline to differ from original animated series, but it's still predictable and overused. They will get +5 points for using shirukens though.

i actually like the series better then what i am seeing right now, it looks interesting none the less, i kinda want to see how they make the dragon from the dragonball, if there is no dragon i will consider this a fail

I'm going to pass out of principle, regardless of what the actual movie's quality is. Just looking at the preview, it's obvious they used the name "Dragonball" for the sole purpose of getting a bigger budget for a completely unrelated action movie.

Another franchise, another year

I know. When my friend (a.k.a. DB freakin OTAKU!!) told me about this I was like, WTF?! I'm going to see it just because he'll drag me along. Seriously, though. What is with everyone doing live-action rip-offs of old '80 and '90s cartoons? First Transformers, now this.

Speed Racer was good because it was cartoony, the plot was cartoony as well. DB Evolution, why evolution btw?, is totally going to suuuuuuuuuuuuuck. I'll go see it if I can find several old friends who are hard core DB fans like me, atleast that way we can reminisce about when DB was coming out.

I think the reason they put "Evolution" in front is b/c Hollywood isn't stupid enough to think they'll fool us into thinking this is actually Dragonball, the way it originally was. This appears to be "updated for a modern audience" with heavy special effects and mystical background, and modern looks/machinery/etc. so it's somehow evolved from the original story into something else? I dunno. That's just a shot in the dark

I saw another trailer for this a few months back on a different forum I frequent. Seeing as how I can add nothing more to my reaction from that trailer, I'll simply copy and paste.

There are not enough words in any language to describe how utterly FAIL this is. You have James Marsters (Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) playing a White skinned Piccolo, a white guy playing Goku, one of the most well known asian anime characters ever, Chow Yun-Fat, cast in order to bring a shred of legitamacy to the cast, as a version of Muten Roshi that's so far from the source material as to be completely unrecognizable, a Korean playing Yamcha, who was white in the series, and so many other things wrong with just that short few minutes we saw that it would take me days to list it all. Dragonball was the first anime I ever saw, the show that got me hooked on anime in general. It has inspired toys, over a twenty movies, 2 sequal series, magazines, books, video games, it has inspired the creators of other mangas, among them Naruto and One Piece, and this tripe bullshit is what they offer us as a live action movie?! I will not hand over my hard earned cash to see this in theatres, I will not rent this when it comes to video stores, I would even change the channel should it ever air on tv.

Oohohohok then. Calm down there buddy. Its just a movie.

it was pretty cheesy but still good, also how do we know this is not a hoax? i remember seeing a Legend of Zelda movie comming out but it ended up being a hoax.
