I'm tempted to agree but seeing as I wasn't around then, I can't really say I understand... to your degree anyway.

I have my philosophy speech tomorrow and I'd like to post some of my ideas on the thread.

The speech is about how society labels other people, every member of society does this intentional or not and it's generally accepted.
But by labeling that person, do we limit their purpose?

It's still being worked on, but what are your thought?

This is pretty hard to answer. But after some consideration, I would have to say no. Usually we label a person based on a certain characteristic (nerds, social butterfly etc etc) Why they act that way may be questionable. Some people may force themselves to act cool just to impress people. But ultimately, they can't run from their own personality. And that particular personality may be crude, but if worked upon, can help them succeed in life. Nerds, for example, are characterized by their extreme love and knowledge for a certain subject. Nerds are not particularly looked at in a positive manner. But if we need help on a particular subject, it's the nerds who we turn to for their answers. Talkative people, can hone their communication skills to become a newsanchor or such. You see, they do that, being a nerd or a social butterfly, is because they love doing so.

Eh well, this is the best I can say. Sorry if it's confusing

People who understand their own position on society and accept it are the ones we always seem to look happy, trouble-less, triunfant. Even if their label were a "negative" one like a 'nerd' for example, if you're happy with it and you accept yourself like that, the label becomes a part of you and stops from being a nuisance.

Of course there are different "happy" status for these labels, there are some who go into denial from their current label but claim to be "happy" with it just so that they give a message to everyone that the label won't affect them, sadly when a label does not fit you but people incessantly use it against you, you simply cannot be happy and therefore it doesn't matter how hard you try to hide it, a false label is bothersome, that's why Wazit's part becomes useful because you must know and judge yourself based on the patterns and behavior you admire on yourself in your daily life, when you discover what you really are the next step is assimilate it, when you assimilate a title you demonstrate it almost innocently, you become a lightbulb of a certain color and people can see your light, the false label will inevitably come down in a short time and you'll remain being what you truly are.

People who are bullied and made fun of are people who deny every single label possible because sometimes having a label makes some people think they're "not special anymore" so they create their own, for example we have Goths, emos, darkettos, punks, etc. But in reality we all have a label, teachers always wants us to express our label out loud in the first class so that everyone can get a look to who you are, if you're lying, it'll become blatantly obvious.

And when i say "out loud" does not mean you can run, stand proudly before a crowd and yell "I'M GAY!!! :D" because, well, that wouldn't be necessary.

Labelling is another way to size up what "level" a person is--heirarchy shit-- so he can say that he's above the rest. Label is just for inflating egos.
