Still don't own a scanner, haha...

Oh look! A dive in quality! AND bad lighting!

(Though, I drew the majority of these quite a while ago...)

Younger Aidan (Get a grip on that Langenschwert before you think about moving up to the Koenig Doppelhander!)
Image

Yet-to-be-Named - What's this? Chick armor that actually PROTECTS and COVERS vital organs? No chainmail bikinis here, no sir.

Soldier of Sci-Fi Fortune

Oh God! Bad shading! Even worse, it looks like a goatee!

Image

Up next, something with dynamic foreshortening! (Oh God! I suck at that!)

Interesting, very interesting.

But I like Chainmail Bikini! I also like realism, though, so I do understand you.

If I were ever to make a comic (high unlikely), I would like to keep it moderately realistic...

eg. Swordfights wouldn't be a series of wide, clumsy, arcing swings and static blocks, though, such would be used as necessary (after all, such things did happen as well...and the fact that I gave one of my characters a BFS, haha...)

Just to say...

This is what swordfighting is: Fencing Techniques of Sigmund Ringeck and Peter von Danzig

This is what swordfighting isn't: http://youtube.com/watch?v=x9a6lvgqv6Y&feature=related

Otherwise known as "tap-fighting."

European swordsmanship and swordsman, including knights, seem to suffer from a huge preconception of clumsy ineffectiveness, epitomized by the image of the slow, clumsy, ponderous knight, barely able to stand let alone fight. Of course, such a thing is preposterous, simply because no sane person would wear such ineffective gear into battle. Longsword fighting itself is looked down upon, seen merely as two men bashing eachother with no sense of technique or skill. Such things fly in the face of rationality.

In fact, lots of old fighting styles seem to suffer from misconceptions. Take for example, the whippy, highly flexible jian used in chinese martial arts demonstrations. Real chinese jian were of course, thicker, and more rigid. After all, a whippy, highly flexible sword that can visibly bend just from moving it around it hardly any good for thrusting through someone's abdomen...

On the other hand, some swords and swordstyles are so touted, the outrageous becomes de facto truth. Take Katana for example. Quite a few people consider them the "ultimate sword," better than any other sword on the face of the planet. Good Katana are good swords, no doubt.
They were used with skill and were deadly in the right hands. But their current prevalence in entertainment seems to make people think that Katanas are the be-all, end-all of swords. Personally, I think the european cruciform longsword is a more versatile weapon. It could deliver a powerful cut, and it's straight taper would be more suited for thrusts than the curved katana. Also, the crossguard, as opposed to the Katana's tsuba, makes the Longsword more versatile in that you can use it to bind an opponent's weapon, or even use the sword inverted, striking him with the guard and pommel while gripping the blade.

I suppose my ultimate vision of a good fight scene would be done much better in animation. Hahaha, I could only dream of working in that field.

Gah, got all preachy.

I hate it when I see people doing tap-fighting, It's boring and predictable.

This is even worse than tap-fighting, because it's purporting itself to be authentic when its as far from a real martial art as one can get.

Honestly, the twirling? Blind, behind-the-back blocks? More twirling? Turning your back on your opponent? It's basically teaching people everything you shouldn't do if you feel like not getting stabbed through the back.

Honestly, just a quick glance at the rest of their videos screams "McDojo."

Ah, but I digress, enough about our former president who now walks the streets as a bizarre half-man, half-shadow named Tankra. Whose only fear the light and only joy the dark. Ah, but I digress again. For we all know to speak Tankra's name is to summon her awful presence. Next time, I shall bring you more drawings! Maybe. With foreshortening...possibly...

Very nice work! You seriously need to get a scanner...like, now. The camera isn't doing your drawings the proper justice that it deserves.

I used to have a scanner, but one day it just failed to be recognized by the computer. Wasn't the USB ports or cable either, since the ports functioned with other devices and I tried several USB cables...

Sigh.

I miss my scanner.

And I do believe Big O could take several Gundams at once, with serious trouble, but with such ridiculously destructive weapons, I think he can do it...

Not to mention to lethal force field that's defense and offense at the same time...

You can always pilfer paper from the school printers. Print out blanks and take em :D

Good practice on the hands. Try more dynamic perspectives with the fingers, you might have fun :D

Well I figured, heck, I can't really think of anything to draw.

So hey, why don't you all tell me what to draw?

And by tell, I mean ask nicely.

And by ask nicely, I mean beg.

But wait, I'm not good enough to be begged at.

So ask nicely.

OC: Irese

Image

In this 3-man group...

Aidan Koenigschwert the AirLancer - The Hero - The no-buts-about-it quintessential cape. Has a staunch sense of noble justice. A good guy with a general no-kill policy (which is tested), despite the fact that his main weapon is a BFS. Uses his primary elemental control powers to make his direct sword-strikes nonlethal, though damaging. Like all runeseal users, is granted various physical amps through his magic.

Lune the Priestess Knight - The Chick/Action Girl - Subverted in that besides the general healing knowledge and light magic known by all PKs, Lune is also a very competent swordswoman with a hand-and-a-half longsword. Like all runeseal users, is granted various physical amps through their magic.

Irese the Sunstalker - The Rogue - Member of a group known as the Sunstalkers, who are known for their cunning and courage. Has as many things in common with Aidan as he does things with which he is diametrically opposed with Aidan. Fights with a customized handgun and a llarge curved dagger. He is very quick despite his lack of runeseal boosts.

Still to come:

The Cute Bruiser

The Gouki - Kayden Koenigschwert

The Quirky Miniboss Squad

The Big Bad

The Cursed with Awesome

The Berserker (who may or may not also be the Cute Bruiser)

Things to Avoid:

The Breast Plate (Somewhat guilty in that regard...)

Exposed to the Elements

Never Bring a Knife to a Fist Fight

A video "trailer" I made of a conceptual show based around certain characters.

Man, was this a pain to work on!
