Anyway, one sketch from me in today's update.



A concept sketch of Night Hawk on patrol in London. Looks like he ran into some trouble downtown, but, as can be expected, common crooks are stereotypically terrible shots in the comic book world. You know the drill.

Not much has changed about his design, but I made a few tweaks. The cybernetics on his wings have been neatened up to allow for a better sense of visual functionality, and there are now blade launchers on his gloves, which allow for sharp blades to fly out at the press of a button as a surprise attack when on the defensive.

Well, well.
First of all, Happy Holidays and a belated New Year's to all.
I know....it's been a while since I've been here.

But, I'm back, and with a nugget of goodness.



Here's a sketch of a character that I haven't drawn in four YEARS. FOUR YEARS. That's a heck of a long time.

Anyway, this is Angelgirl.
The brainchild of a girl I knew, used with permission, of course.
Her original concept for her character was that Angelgirl was capable of wielding magic spells and armed with a bow and arrow. I gave the character a tweak and made her abilities more 'elemental'- as you can see here, she still has the bow and arrow, but she's fashioning it out of lightning.

So....you might want to avoid getting hit by an arrow. Just saying.

That's some cool lineart there. I like how you've done lightning bow & arrow. I usually have a hard time drawing special effects, such as fire or energy, with lineart, but your's look really cool.

As some of you may know, I'm a big fan of Kimi.
It's not exactly a hard notion to miss....I mean, take a look at my gallery, for example. Chock full of fanart of this character.

And some people may wonder, "Well, why her?"

Well, to be honest...I can't say.
I've probably been a fan of Kimi ever since "All Grown Up' premiered over 5 years ago. Since then, she has been somewhat of a muse to me. If ever I'm stuck on what to draw, if even just for kicks, I'll whip out the paper and try something with the Kimster.

Kimi has always struck me as the independent, slightly rebellious type. Those are traits I admire, and sadly traits that weren't emphasized too well enough on the show. What is clear, though, is that she marches to the beat of a different drummer...definitely not one to fall with the 'in' crowd (except when she sees fit, that is), she'd always tell you what's on her mind.

My drawing style with Kimi has evolved over the years.
Before, whatever I churned out would be close to the original in concept and form (though I occassionally revert from time to time). These days, my style takes a more detailed turn. Kimi's hair particularly. It's a bit wilder and more 'flowing' than my previous works. I've tweaked her face over time so that you can still recognise the character before you as Kimi, but it's more expressive than her traditional look.

This little portrait of Kimi shows how I draw her nowadays. Gone are the days of flat colour and sticking by the book in terms of her design- now, I think, I've put my own spin on how she looks, and stuck with it ever since.

I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but there's something I really like about how you draw her ponytail.

It's a good picture overall, but for some reason my eye is drawn to that spot in this one and the last one.

Some lineart I whipped up, just for the fun of it.
As you can tell from the concept, this piece was inspired by the far out designs of Gundam Wing. I'll try to colour this one sooner or later....though the details do seem a bit daunting. Ah, well. Enjoy, regardless.
