Literature Rules / Guidelines / Info
Welcome to Literature, the place for posts and discussion about writing and stories. For visual art, check out the Art forum
. Please read the Global Forum Rules
. If you want to hang out and discuss some piece of writing that you really enjoyed, share ideas, experiences, or even advice that you managed to steal from that time worn sage you know, do that here
, that is the talk thread for the Lit Forum, however, attempts should be made to try to keep conversation somewhat focused on literature and writing. Please read Yoshi's guide to writing here
and Proper Writing Styles
.How things work here
- Posting / linking your works
All your works should go in (or be linked from, if they are at some other site) a single thread, the title of which should include your name, the name of the most recent work in the thread, its rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, or an equivalent), and whether it is original or fanfiction. It is courteous to include links in the first post to multiple chapters / stories as they are added. In general, character use is unrestricted, so if you have an OC that you don't want others to use, include a prominent message to that extent in your thread.
- Content rules / guidelines
Constructive criticism is good, but flaming is not. Keep discussions calm, friendly, and on-topic. In general, so long as a creative work is in writing, it's fine to put it here. Things like stories, scripts, poetry, choose-your-adventure stories, and more are fine. Just keep role playing in the Role Playing forum. Illustrations are fine as long as they serve to illustrate their accompanying works. If you use someone else's images, attribute them, and if you want feedback on the illustrations apart from how they relate to the story, put them in the Art forum. Mature material is allowed, but it should not exceed the equivalent of an R rating. Use mature content as a tool to tell a story rather than as a focus. If a mod deems the violence / sex / whatever as excessive, your thread will be locked.
- Special threads
Sometimes, the Literature forum holds writing contests and other communal projects. Each has its own thread which explains the rules. If there is no active contest / project, you can suggest one to a mod.
