S
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

S

"Let's go to the Foster Home, I need to understand why the parents didn't file the report" I said "Don't worry" she said "it isn't very fair from here" she looked like she knew the way, it'll be nice havin' someone who knows this joint around.

This is's probably as good a time as any to get to know her "So, why an Officer?" Iask as we continued walking through the cluttered streets of the slums. The stench of garbage hasn't left my nostrils since I landed here "My father's a cop as well..actually he's the chief. Chief Howard Staunton" Grace said, I could tell it made her a bit embarrassed workin' for her old man.

I understand why, it must be difficult to prove your worth in the precinct when your fathers the top dog. I do my best to change the subject "I still can't wrap my head around why the parents didn't file the missings persons report" the subject has been dwellin' on my mind for awhile since the Courier told me, it just doesn't make sense. I by no means had what you'd call a loving childhood at home but hell, even my dead beat of a dad would've wondered where I was "Well you must have heard what Carl told you, many of these foster homes are filled to the brim with orphans. When Aliens come here, hell, when anyone comes here often families can't feed their children with such a low wage. If they're lucky to even get a job that is. So they leave their kids at these foster homes. Although even with all these institutions you still see kids lying in the streets and sleeping in the gutters" She explains, now that she mentioned it I do recall seeing one or two homeless kids around the marketplace.

There's plenty about this ship I haven't begun to understand, but that's not important right now, gotta focus on the case. All this wonderin sure makes time fly, looks like we're at the Foster Home. Walkin up the steps was a challenge of it's own, these things looked like there were about to cave in any moment. Tax payers money at work.A very short, maybe 5'1' old woman answers the door. "Ah, you must be the Police here about Lauras disappearance is that right?" She said in a less than interested manner "Uh..yes, Detective Bishop at your service and this is my partner Officer Staunton, may we come in?" I ask politely, these old folks don't handle too well to the assertive cop type.
"Ah fine fine you can come in, just make this quick alright" She said again, in a not so interested tone of voice. "Ma'am there's something that's been bugging me since I started this case. Why is it that you didn't report Laura missing the night she disappeared?" I finally asked, "Well you see I've just got so many bra-i mean kids to take care of that i just plain forgot" She answered quietly looking upset, I knew those Crocodile tears were a load of bull, I've seen it on every Robber to Wife Beater in my 15 years on the force. Shit like that pissed me off but I decided to keep my cool "What was Laura's day like before she went missing?" Grace asked.

"Well it was a normal day like any other, she got her things and went off to school early in the morning after she finished doing her chores. You see I've gotten old and frail so Laura has been doing the house work for a few years" She says as she sips her tea, how can this woman be so calm at a situation like this? "You seem oddly timid about the whole situation ma'am" Grace said, she took the words right out of my mouth, well, maybe with a few less curses in there.

"Why? What are you implying? that i'm glad Laura is missing? You law types are the worst. Think you're better than everyon' else. I'm annoyed that that girl ran off like this, leavin poor old me to do the dirty work around here. Do you think it's easy cleanin up after these monsters?" She shrieked.

V. "Now hold on just a minute there lady, how about you fix your fucking attitude"

W. "Ma'am I'm going to have to ask you to calm down and cooperate"

Hm, not really sure whether asking gently will allow her to let the truth come out or make her walk over the situation forcing money out of the system. I'll play it safe with the brutish intimidation. V.

"Now hold on just a minute there lady, how about you fix your fucking attitude" I scream, I've had enough of this old bitches words. She should thank her stars she ain't a man otherwise I'd have half a mind to knock some sense in that small brain of hers.

"I already told you, Laura would do her chores then she would go off to school and return to make dinner. Everyday for the past two years now I ain't got the time to be yelled out by a bunch of arrogant cops who are wastin mah time when they could be goin' out there and finding that bratty girl" She screamed, this woman was batshit insane, once this missings persons case is done and over with I'm makin sure she's not allowed anywhere near these kids. Letting her run a foster home was like asking a Lion to babysit your kids while you and the misses go out for a nice dinner, a disaster wait'n to happen.

"Thank you for your time ma'am, We'll do our best to find Laura" Grace said to ease up the tension as we got ready to leave.
As we started to leave I caught a glimpse of the other Orphans in the house, too many to count and too many different kinds of species to identify. I make sure I give them a little smile on the way out, I promise I'll find their sister.

Although right now the odds are grim at best."Well that was a fucking waste of time" I said pissed off to hell
"I agree, looks like we're going to the classmate next." Grace said as she flicked her hair out of her eyes to check her phone. I'd be lyin if I said I didn't think that was cute.

The walk to the classmates house was silent, we didn't talk much on the way there.

When we got there I noticed the door was open. Strange, after examining it for a second I could tell the knobs been busted. Someone kicked this door.
I motion to Grace to take out her weapon as I go in to pull out mine, fuck that's right, I didn't bother to take any weapons on this trip. "You cover me I'll go in first" I whisper as I creep in the house.

The stench of death rams into my nose,I could already tell shit was about to go downhill. I flick the lights on and laid out in front of us is a pool of blood that leads upstairs, this sure as hell doesn't look like a cooking accident.
I figure it's time to go upstairs Every step I take the smell gets worse and worse, it's clear that someone or something died in here. There were 3 rooms upstairs, a bedroom, a bathroom and a small closet. The door knob on the closet was bloody, something in my gut knew there was something in there. Something bad.

I brace myself, I open the door as quickly as possible and all i see is a head roll down to my feet. I jump back a bit, jesus christ what the hell happened here? No time ot think though at the corner of my eye I see a dark figure going out the window "Stop!" I scream and rush to grab em' til they escape.By now they've already jumped out the window, I've done this enough times to not hesitate. I land on a pile of garbage that softens the fall and go after them. "Stop running you piece of shit!" my voice cracks, too much yellin for one day for me I quickly push my way through dozens of people. These fuckin crowded streets, I see them making a left at an alley, figured I can catch him before he jumps a fence.

I run as fast as I can, just in time to tackle the sonofabitch to the ground, now that they ain't moving so fast I can see what they look like.

A young boy, can't be older than 17. Hair in that punk mohawk style from before my time. A few piercings here and there.

X. [Punch him in the face] "Talk. Now"

Y. [Slam him onto the brick wall] "What did you do to that girl!?"

Z. [Cuff him] "You better start talking now boy"

X

I give him a quick jab to the nose "Talk. Now" one swift punch in the right place breaks his nose. I can see the tears welling up in his eyes.
"Okay okay just please don't hurt me" He stutters "I-it's not what you think" I have half a mind to punch him again for that overused cliche "Really? Because to me it looks like you left a crime scene where a girls head was chopped off. Now talk"I said hoping he would give me another excuse to wack him. "I-I didn't kill nobody, Ja-janet was my girlfriend I was just coming to see her like I always did. B-but when I came through the door was already open and I saw all that blood. T-then I heard you coming in and I panicked. Please don't hurt me" His blood is starting to mix with his snot " I don't want to go to prison" I'm not sure what to think right now. A phone rings, it's Grace

"Bishop, you've got to get back here right now. Our killer left a message" I wasn't going to let this kid off. "You're coming with me till I find something to do with you" I cuff the son of a bitchs hands and lead him to the crime scene, Janets House. "Where's the message?" I ask Grace as you walk in, "it's upstairs in the closet" she replied. "Alright, you keep watch on this kid" The smell was still bad, my nostrils were burning. I opened the closet one again and saw various body pieces scattered around, and a small card in the center. I pick it up and examine the text:

"Hello! Greetings whomever is reading this, I see you noticed the little present I left for you. This is the kind of thing that happens when you go to the police about things that don't concern you. Although to be quite frank I would have done this to her anyway, I had a certain, interest in her. Rest assured that you'll be seeing a lot of me relatively soon" - The Delivery Man

Jesus Christ , this persons must be insane to be able to cut a body up this bad. I hear a loud bang and quickly head down stairs

Grace is knocked out and that kid is no where to be seen.

Shit. As if I didn't have enough fuckin problems, Now I got a runaway fugitive that is clearly linked to the murder of that poor dame upstairs

It began to rain, what perfect timing. Why the hell even have rain in a giant spaceship? I wake up Grace and get her onto the couch near the window. I never figured it would go this sour. Of course I should have noticed the signs, getting lost in the slumps where anything can happen is a given. But I never thought there'd be a Serial Killer out there arrogant enough to leave a note. I call in for back up and an ambulance, while I waited I stepped outside for a smoke. I never did like the rain, it made me nostalgic.

This is going to be one hell of a trip.

Pawn Chapter 01-

"Wake up yer good for nothin hunk of junk!" says Mr Phillidor,

My name is Pawn #345 or just Pawn for short. "How long have I been out Mr Phillidor?" I enquire, while still a robot I am required to go into sleep mode every night. It keeps my hardware from overheating. "It's been three dayss yuu mooch, did yer know where i found yee?" He screams, Mr Phillidor has never been a gentle patient man. That I've always known, ever since he found me in the junk yard 4 years ago. "Why have I been in Sleep Mode for so long Mr Phillidor?" Alma usually turns me on every morning at 7.

Alma, Mr Phillidor's Daughter and the only friend I've known. No one has shown me more kindness and care than Alma has, that little girl means a lot. "I found yee in the dumpster 2 kilometers from here. Alma has..Alma has been missin for 3 days"He mutters, I can sense his Heartbeato racing and see his lip quiver. This is the first time Ive ever seen Mr Philldor show sadness, it's certainly quite a shock. "Missing?" it's hard to believe it, I'm always by Almas side from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep, how could this have happened? This made me remember than I always keep a log in my memory banks each day. I try to open the log from 3 days ago. It's gone, seems someone or something has extracted my data for that day.

A. "Rest Assured Mr. Phillidor I will find Alma"

B. "Can you show me where this Dumpster is Mr Phillidor?"

C. "Alma is Missing, I can't waste time Talking to you"

"Can you show me where this Dumpster is, Mr Phillidor?" I ask. Mr Phillidor wipes the tears from his eyes and nods, he escorts me through the markets. Paper and garbage is thrown at me. "Get laust yah piece of tin trash!" one local yells at my direction, I don't mind it. I am used to discrimination from the living beings. All us robotics are,it is a part of our life. "Thar bee where I found yee" He blubbers. "Excuse me" I push him aside and scan the dumpster, I find traces of blood but I can't analyze it. I'm not that advanced of a being. What catches my eye is a gold ring that the blood is attached to, the symbol is of a broken Triangle with a circle in the middle. "Mr Phillidor do you quite possibly know what this symbol means?" I inquire, the man is clearly distraught but it's no matter as he does not know. I leave him and go find a food vendor, "excuse me sir but do you know what this symbol on the ring means" I ask hoping for new information. "Get lost yah fucking robo loser, I don't deal with scum like you" He said as he spit in my direction and it landed on my chest plate.

D. [Apologize and walk away]
