Hey. My class is reading the book 'To Kill A Mockingbird.' We're half way through and its actually better then I thought. I thought it would be all deep and philosophical, but its funny in some parts. Have any of you guys read this book, and if so, what are your thoughts on it?

While I think this forum is more for posting literature that YOU write as opposed to talking about published novels, I agree that it's a good book. I read it years and years ago, but on my own. Though it's possible I also had to read it again for a class.

The movie is excellent as well.

I actually disliked reading the book. I'm not entirely sure why, I just didn't like it.

It was actually pretty good for me. Not sure why though. I just liked for no reason, I guess!

I loved the book; I read it last year for school. I think all the characters were very well done! Definately a book to be shared.

eh. It was not as good as I believed and not as bad as I feared. The plot... was kinda lacking in my opinion, but the characters and imagery were pretty good.

Well, I guess it would be pretty hard to do 2 plots at the same time.
i.e. Boo Radley plot, and the Tom Robinson plot.

I remember reading this book like 5 years ago. But after reading the plot in other pages, and the plot for the movie, they seem quite different. I remember (sorry for my lack of knowledge about the names) that some guy shot with a gun, and he was like a pro or something, though, he wasn't really proud and had left that in the past. Some stuff like that.

FFFFFFFFF
The symbolism helps tell the God damn story! The racism is what the story was about! Saying that is like saying "Oh, I love Mario games but I hated all that jumping shit you had to do."

This used to be one of my favourite books. Still has a place in my heart, but I've read so many superior books since I've read it that it seems a little bland now.

Oh god... I remember that, did it last year.

My English teacher was like: "You must do the analysis or I will cut off your head!!"

Dude, I think we all concede the point that racism and symbolism tell the story, the problem is when your grade rides on whether or not you can turn a story into a page by page analysis (which I think is absolutely retarded).

Oh, and the movie wasn't as good as the book. Especially where they cut out some parts in the Trial and left in some random descriptive parts about Scout.

I didn't like the movie. It missed a whole lot of the parts that I actually liked.
