Challenge Yourself 8: Design a Superhero!

Postby Spike » Mon Jul 25, 2005 11:53 am

Congrats, Edgar, for winning Challenge#7!

As per his suggestion, this week's challenge is to design your own superhero! There are a couple of rules specific to this challenge:
-The design of a Superhero must include the design of a Superpower.
-The design of a Superhero must include the design of an outfit and a logo

Why? Because those are the most challenging parts of making a superhero :) If it's not obvious from the story/illustration, you must state what their superpower is. A superpower can be anything that a normal human does not have/can not do and *must* be used to fight (hence the "hero" part).

Submissions for this contest can be in any medium that can satisfy the rules.

ZEE RULES
Entries that do not follow the rules below will be disqualified, with or without notification.

>Submissions MUST have been made during this week. Submissions will be accepted until sometime next Saturday (7/30) at which point, they will be judged. The winner gets to pick the next weekly challenge!

>Multiple submissions are accepted during the challenge.

>With your submission, YOU MUST post your suggestion for next week! This will expediate the changeover process. So, with your first submission into the contest, just say "My suggestion for the next challenge is: ______", and we can go back and find it if you win. EVEN IF YOU SUBMIT MULTIPLE ENTRIES, only submit one suggestion please!!

***Rules specific to *this* challenge (on top of the regular rules):***
>The design of a Superhero must include the design of a Superpower.
>The design of a Superhero must include the design of an outfit and a logo
******

>The only other rules are the applicable forum rules!

HAVE AT IT!!

Sure thing, as long as they have an outfit, a logo and a way to fight crime.

whoa whoa whoa... not all superheroes had logos, outfits, or 'fight' crime. Some of us are criminals. Oh, wait, nevermind. I always forget that I'm a supervillian. ^_^

Well I'd prefer it have a logo. That's part of the greatest challenge of creating a Super, like I said. It can be a "team" logo, like the Xmen.

Ummm, question. All the superheroes in my comic are dressed in casual because I think the superhero costume thing is kinda dumb. They all have logos on their shirts tho. Can I design a casually dresed superhero?

I think it would be more of a challenge if we were to make up a costume and a logo design :D. I personally like the different superhero outfits no matter how dumb they are, it helps me tell who is who, and makes each character more of an individual.

As long as it's the outfit he fights in. I'd prefer it have some kind of "super" feel, though.

it's cool.. i have a logo i can use for the characters, cuz like Hyro, my characters wear clothes.. not necessarily costumes. i actually created design labels for my comics for that purpose (and because i do fashion design as well)... but there are a couple that look like costumes.. so i can make this work!

That's pretty sweet Chimpo.

The reason I don't like superhero outfits is because they usually consist of spandex and wearing your underwear oin the outside. Superheroes dressed in casual seem more dignitified.

Also, since I don't have Flash MX (I'm in Hawaii, on my laptop), I will have to make my drawings in MS Paint. Would you mind grading my art on a curve since I'm not as proficient in Paint as I used to be?

And to anyone wondering if I'll be doing anything serious, probably not.

Also, my suggestion is any picture but people have to use a style they don't normally use :)
