For Those Who Know About The Use of Shapes In Old Movies

Postby Hyro » Sat Jul 23, 2005 6:22 pm

In late seventh grade, and much of eighth grade my art teacher was teaching us about the use of certain shapes and lines in old silent films, such as in The Cabinet of r. Caligari, where they used triangles, rectangles, and lines going down on the right side of the screen.

Does anyone know where I can find a reference site for this kind of thing? Sadly I can't remember what most of these are called, only remembering the term "Golden Mean" for the line down the right side.

Please help,
