I noticed wuite a few people got a one week free subscription to DA.

Is this a major thing for them? Or did they pull a random list out of there ass?

i think its cool, despite the fact there either !) trying to cover for a mistake they made elsewhere or B) are just trying to rake in subscribers.

I like the features tho. Anyone else get it?

I like it, but there are somethings that did not interest me, for example the Messages feature is too big imo, yeah ok the images show and its all put down by user name etc. but I feel it is too much and I dont know if a new submission has been made even if I look at the dates.

Random list. Out of ass.

They want people to by subscriptions. Buying a DA subscription does make your DA experience much better. However, then you'd be spending more time at DA, and nobody should do that. :P

Yeah, I have been contemplating leaving DA as of late. Its so fucking irritating trying to keep up every day with a hundred new messages. then you dont get to them all, meaning having those people on your watch list at all is pointless.

Eh...Im probably jsut gonna end up using multiple windows all summer. Im getting used to it lately since torrents kill my internet speed and i have to multi task.

Make a website. *so* much better.

The only thing that really was good about DA was having a really good network of friends that I still keep. I'm having a hard time finding new ways to network with other artists. But DA is *far* too much headache now. So many stupid people, so many stupid policies, so much drama, so many stupid admins, so many awesome people getting overlooked, so many "super-popular" people that don't deserve to be because they're so egotistical. Also, so many art thiefs and camhos.

Yeah, those couple of lines sum up DA real nicely.

Tehres alot of fucked in the head people to. Beyond whats normal fuckage in the head. People who are popular soley due to the fact that all there stuff is about htere depression and suicide attempts. Not sure whos more sickening, the artists or there heard of followers.

The drama thing is getting reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeEEeeEEeeaee(1337)lly anoying. People start picking fights with there old friends and making stupid one liners abouty revenge and shit.

0-0 Wow... I was unaware of the art theft on DA. I agree with the super-popular people thing... I've seen many an effortless sketch on the front page as a featured deviant only because the person has tons of groupies thar will +fav anything. I have a particular peev with *Lasaro... It's just my opinion, but nothing about what she does is very original. Granted, she's very technically skilled, and all of her finished works are clean, and atttractive but... I dunno. I guess I'm sick of seeing that "cutesy-anime-dating-sim-style". :ogle: I've looked at her pencil drawings, and without the digital coloring... it's really very average. Plus, he anatomy bothers me sometimes. Eh, oh well, that's life, eh?

Also, WOOW! I've never heard of that sort of drama on DA, but I dont doubt it either...

Oh, one more thing!! I just love how the DA mods say that Daily Deviation is not an award...

No, it's not an award, but it sure as hell decided who get instant DA fame -_-*

There's soooo much art theft and drama on DA. I'm part of a group that watches for thefts on the side and we catch at least one a week. The daily dev is a total joke, too. I had a friend who calculated your odds of getting a daily dev. Apparently your best chance was if you had commented on an admin's page admiring his work at least 3 times, and had submitted either a black and white picture of a naked woman or made a pixel city.

I subscribe just to have thumbnail views. Makes life alot easier...plus it gets rid of alot of the ads. W00t.

And I have no drama on DA...cause I dont get involved. Its a good gallery, with a good comment system thats open to everyone. SO far the drama has been next to 0.

It's true, the drama is only there if you make an effort to go around and get involved.

That explains why I've never seen any.. I don't go into any of the chatrooms or anything. All I see are comments and such.

I think DA is just wonderful...but yeah I tried to chat on their shoutbox thingy once...and it was like...the very DREGS of the internet (no offense to anyone who hangs there). When it degraded to a dance off between smilie's...I decided I'd just use the commenting sections of the site.

And the only reason I havent moved ALL my art there is: I don't wanna spam people who have me on watch and I would also be uncomfortable posting my photography in the same place as my drawn artwork. But for future purposes most of my digital and drawn stuff will be on DA and not on my own website.

i commented a total of one time on the shoutbox. then I realized it was impossible to actually do anything intelligent dealing with it. there IRC chat sucks to, nobody does anything, they just bitch about rules and people who break them.

I would agree the daily deviation is completely biased and very much political. Thats why I dont even check/comment/care about them anymore. Im not saying I deserve to be on there...but some of the crap they put up is utter shit and there are artist around on DA who are just MIND BLOWING that will never kiss enough ass to get on there.

I realize that if you keep to yourself and that was ok for me, which is why I stayed for a long time. It was only their recent policy changes that set me for the door.

You can report someone for art theft and they won't even acknowlege you. Or, they *will* acknowlege you and even with undisputable proof they won't do anything about it because their recent policy changes says art theft is OK. And then they'll slam YOU. It's retarded, I had a friend have her deviation deleted TWICE. It was a wallpaperization of a piece that she had made. They said that she couldn't use someone else's work and put it in wallpapers. She said "HELLO!!?? This is *MY* WORK!!!" and it turns out that it got deleted because the title she used for the dev was a partial song lyric. >_<! And yet tracers and thiefs run rampant.

A lot of my friends have also been harassed for "miscategorizing" things. Apparently a picture of your cat can't go in "animal photography". They pass judgement on your art, it's too anime for this category, or not anime enough for the anime category, or it's anime so it can't go in people, or it's this so it can't go in that...

Lastly, hosting your gallery on DA will make it virtually impossible to get commissions except by word of mouth. It is a google pit of death.

Added after 1 minutes:

Oh, and they think anyone who draws anything remotely resembling anime or furry is the scum of the earth. You're not "artsy" enough for them, and Jark OPENLY decries this in his parody deviations. It's seriously uncool.

I dont have to deal with any of htat shit really but mainly because im not importnat enough to bother ^^

There fanart vs. original can be annoying to tho, for example: http://chalosan.deviantart.com/journal/5149128/

Ive seen a few otehr cases of similar things, but this was the most recent that i knew where to find it.

Also, the mature tagging thing is wierd, cus different artists have different attitudes towards different subject matter and label according to there ideas rather than someone elses.

Out of their ass. Bastards disabled search, too, so that you couldn't use it to the fullest extent.

I hate dA. T_T

goes to show WHY I moved to Furaffinity, cause they are much better than DA in terms of hosting Furry art, at least you dont get bitched at showing pics etc.

Actually there search servers went kaput. there getting newer, more advanced ones that will be open for everybody as we speak.

There are really alot of options to consider instead of DA, but...Da is still the biggest. Vcl is prety big, but no commenting and such, and then theres places like Side7, SheezyArt, etc, etc...

1.) I agree...which is why if I EVER open a gallery for comissions, it will be on my flash resume site (coming soon hopefully). DA is not a good place for comissions...

2.) I hate people who consider themselves artsy.

Then their servers have been down for a month, because that's when I got my little trial crap thing. RAWR I SAY, RAWR!
