What do you guys think of the forum so far? Dave and I have been in a kind of PM frenzy discussing it, and I still stick by that "thread per artist" is the way to go, but he's suggesting that "either or" would be ok. That kind of mess would be a little much for me <_>!!

It would work well (the hybrid thing) if nobody came and showed up and made ten threads at once, one for each piece, drowning out all the others. And I still stand by my point that the good artist's pieces, if left in separate threads, will just get constantly necro'd and drown out other people's threads.


Dave's point is that he likes going to a place where he can browse through pieces without exploring threads.


Another idea I have is creating a new thread (OH GOD THE STICKIES *BLAM*) called "PIMPAGE" or similar that will work kind of like the "post your art please please please" thread worked, except that you put the art you were really proud of in it


ANYWAY I'm rambling, but I really just want the art forum to be awesome, so help me out! Let me know what YOU guys want in YOUR forum.

On the subject of art contests, I think there should be a mod passing them first thing established. Guidelines would be good, but what are the chances of everyone following them right from the get-go?


Better to have guidelines then have the contest head person clear there contest with a mod. Not only does it ensure better and more productive contests, but it limits them as well. Thats better than to have 5 contests in one week. In that case, not everyone can get in everything and participation is low on all fronts. Personally, I think mods should be the only ones making contests at all, that way they can sticky them and people know that its an official contest. But, if others can think of cool contests, than yeah, see my above ideas for mod passing them.

I don't think contests should be stickied, we seem to already have 20 kajillion stickies >_< But I do want to start some guidelines for contest.

It's nothing major, but just like how you can't have a thread without a topic (talk about wutever u want) you can't have a contest without some basics:

> There HAS TO BE a deadline.
> Must specify what mediums are allowed.
> Has to be a subject ("Draw characters from _____", "The theme is: Summer!", "Create a drawing using only macaroni")

Nothing else is really necessary, but prizes will help you get entries, just as a word to the wise

So yeah, I don't mind if other people start contests (I sure as hell don't want to be responsible for 50 contests) but I would like them to have at least those things. Otherwise it's not really a contest...

I was thinking along the lines of, having just one sticky contest. Like, when one is over, a new one begins, and the old one fades away, while the new one is visible to all. One contest at a time , maybe two just seems easier to a manage to me.
