Kurosai's Art Corner

Tue Nov 19, 2013 4:45 pm

I guess I'll start with the one I put in the other Art thread.
Image
My drawing of my OC, Sigment Kurosai, who I got my username from.

Image
The first of many things I made back when I took a 3d modeling class. The software used is called Softimage XSI

Image
Made this one at the end of my second class. Modeled it off of an old soccer trophy I got as a kid.

Image
Final project for the last modeling class I took. For reasons I don't quite remember, I modeled my bathroom.

Your bathroom seems so strange. Toilet under a cabinet, and it's in a different room than the sink.

Wasn't my choice. Used to bang my head a lot getting up from the toilet too. Actually, the room was designed for both me and my brother, and there's a door I never added in (ran out of time on it) between the two rooms. It's made so that one of us could use the toilet or bathtub/shower without bothering the other, who may just be brushing their teeth or something.

Would be really awkward for one of you to walk in, ready to take a shower, while the other is taking a dump.
Other than that, an obscure-as-hell bathroom but nice job on designing it.

Anyway, I finished a sketch earlier today, and I'm waiting on my dad to get here so I can take a picture of the damn thing. It's too big for my scanner.

Well, I got my camera so I could post this one. Not sure how many people played Mega Man X, but I grew up with it. So I decided to draw him.

Okay, I've been working on this on and off for a couple of weeks. Spent the latter half of this sick, too. The character's an OC that I never really put anywhere, which was a shame. Honestly, I not that good with female figures. Ah well... maybe somewhere down the line, I can try again on this. For those curious, her name is Black Widow.

So, I decided to try to draw a character I was fond of. He belongs to our very own Thy Obsessive (Jolly) Freak; the Executioner, Gabu. I'm still practicing with legs, so I made this an upper body shot. I'm not as proud of it as I am with Black Widow, but I'm still feeling good about it.

P.S. I was stuck using a different pencil this time around, and I had trouble erasing the lead from it.

These are some great drawings Sig!
And I like how they're all swordsman. Nice :3

It's not bad Sig, in fact it's really good. You've made him so three dimensional and you've been very careful with the lines that that's just as surprising. Like see how you've gotten his sling around him and the cloak. You're a good artist just in need of more experience. If you repeat Gabu by next year, I assure you, he'll be astounding. Just be sure to do a sketch at least once everyday. It's the recommended practice for all artists.

But a few things to practice on for now, try and be more confident with the shade, it's better to have put too much on, rather than too little. Thicken it and don't be afraid where to put it. The rest such as body shapes and proportions is just a matter of constant practice though.

Great job Sig.

Thanks, guys. Glad you like it, Freak. I want to thank everyone who's bothered to look at my sketches so far. I already have a couple ideas for more, but I need to make sure that I don't forget to keep writing my story.
...
Multitasking's a bitch.

I NOW FREE MYSELF FROM PAGE 3!!!

Anyway, I finally have a new sketch done. For those here who have played Happy Wars on XBLA, I tried my hand at the Warrior class, going for more realistic proportions and giving him a bit of wear and tear. Probably could've done better, but for now this is it. I do plan to also do the Mage and Cleric at some point as well.

You're good with shading. My BW shading sucks. >.>

The legs need to be a itty-bitty-bit longer. For an adult, the height from crotch to top of the head should be equal to the crotch to the ankles- you took it only to the bottoms of the feet. Which is usually how a child is drawn. & The shoulders are a tad wide, even for someone who I assume is beefy. And hands should be a tad bigger. Like- wrist-to-finger tips should be the equivalent of chin-to-eyebrows.

But I like the clothes. The clothes I draw always look baggy and made out of polyester. XD

Finally!

Sigment draws again! And nice work. Not much I can say here. You've given him nice armour and quite a nice step indeed to trying to improve your art. I even love how you succeed with the foreshadowing of the foot, dis great work indeed. But you might want to give your guy bit more of a figure, he's too box shaped that he'd look a bit silly charging across the battlefield... like a robot or something. Like really a bigger shape chest would do nicely. Also might want to look at how the muscles between the neck and shoulders are shaped, that would also do it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, guys. I'll try to use that advice when I do the others. These days, I only have time to sketch during break time at work.
