Yep, an iPad. I'm using an app called ProCreate at the moment.

Not what I had in mind when I said tablet...

I don't own an ipad or any tablet computers, but from what I've heard, they are not really ideal for digital art. It's by no means a must, but you can consider getting a graphic tablet. There are some great ones for pretty cheap, such as the Monoprice MP1060 or the Huion H610, their price is around $60-70. Those are made only for digital art, so an ipad probably can't compare.

Other than SAI ($50), art programs can be really expensive, but you can always use "special discount" for computer software.

Re: Cerulean's Canvas (Updated 2-18-2014:Sky/Clouds/Bubbles)

Postby Cerulean » Mon Feb 17, 2014 4:24 pm

I had a feeling it wasn't :p

Oooh, I'll look into these and save them for when I'm a bit more financially stable (at the moment I have to make due with what I have (which I don't mind too much, it's somewhat inspiring to to see the artwork that can come from an iPad (from youtube))) Also gonna look into these art program discounts. Thanks for all the advice, it really does mean a lot. c:

This is part of a scene that I originally meant to recreate from one of the shows I've been watching, but I just didn't finish it. So, I've been fiddling around with it lately, this is the first version.
Image

In this version, I decided to try out the cloud brush. It looks........ok? I guess? I usually only use three or four of the brushes, so I figured that it couldn't hurt to try one more.
Image

EDIT: Also a quick painting of Bubbles inside of a Bubble. No real story behind it, just something that I felt like drawing.

A quick drawing of Blossom in a (cherry) Blossom (chair). I just realized that I somehow made her look older than Bubbles, that was completely unintentional (as was the curving of her arm that I just noticed :x). Now for Buttercup (after I fix her arm)......

Postby Cerulean » Tue Feb 25, 2014 12:45 am

Thanks everyone!

@Lingo Yep, trying to find her happy place c:

@Rux pffft you'll just have to wait and see xD

I'm having so much fun with Buttercup's drawing, can't wait until I'm done and can share it here :3

For now though, Here's my character Jade (From my Dress/Tree Drawing)! Officially named and everything. Now back to Buttercup I go~

Image

She's also my "practice" character. I'll be using her for when I practice various things (posing/shading/anatomy). I just noticed how off her neck area/shoulders look...will see whether or not I can fix this

Re: Cerulean's Canvas (Updated 3-11-2014:Buttercup)

Postby Cerulean » Tue Mar 11, 2014 1:31 am

And finally, I present Buttercup in a (Reese's Peanut) Butter Cup (Letterman) Jacket. I figured that she would make an awesome spokesperson for the company (and I decided to actually create a lineart for this one, ugh I need to practice clothes more)

Image

And I was going to just end the project with this, but......

Image

I couldn't resist drawing Buttercup in a Buttercup dress c:

Other ideas for Buttercup included:
Buttercup standing in a cup with the words Butter on it (my handwriting....)
Buttercup punching a Buttercup shaped Boxing bag
Buttercup sleeping in a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Bed
and of course Buttercup punching her way out of a Buttercup

I'm probably going to draw these one day, after all I had so much fun drawing these two, but for now I want to move on to drawing other stuff.

Oh, and I also learned how to paint a somewhat realistic nose. So here you go!

Re: Cerulean's Canvas (Updated 3-20-2014: Face Practice)

Postby Cerulean » Thu Mar 20, 2014 11:32 pm

Decided to practice drawing faces. While I was at it, I gave Jade longer hair so that I could practice drawing somewhat curly hair. For once, I'm actually happy with the way her eyes came out here (eyelashes are going to require more practice.... (that along with everything else)). Welp, off to bed I go.

Image

EDIT: And this is one without the outline around the eyes

Re: Cerulean's Canvas (Updated 4-9-2014: Marceline)

Postby Cerulean » Wed Apr 09, 2014 10:13 pm

Wow I haven't drawn anything in a while. So, I thought, why not Marceline? I've wanted to paint her for a while now, and while this doesn't quite match the image I planned in my head, I do think that this came out ok, sort of. At the very least I sort of like her hair here. I was gonna try the whole "realistic face" thing again, buuuut yea, it didn't work out that way. It's just not that comfortable since I'm not at "that level" yet (and shading faces is so complicated :x). So, for now, I'll just focus on what's comfortable to me and go from there. That should be loads less stressful anyway. So, I present to you, Marceline the Vampire Queen!

Thanks c:

To be honest, the aura was an accident. I'd started to paint her hair a very dark blue, then changed my mind near the end. Unfortunately, I'd already merged the layers with the hair in it, so I tried painting over it on another layer, but still managed to miss a few portions. After looking it over, I just decided go with this version.

I'm not sure when I'll finish the rest of this "3-part picture", since I keep getting distracted by other things. But, yea >.>

In any case, here's the Rarity picture. In link form until this Monday because spoilers I hope you all enjoy! I'm off to get some much needed sleep.

Nice work! Like the way you did her hair.

And I would be very sad as well if I lost the ability to create things with just my mind. Think of all the food that could be made! And eaten!

Hm...maybe waiting a bit longer for them to load may help; otherwise, you could drag the image into a new tab, creating it there in full.

@Rux Thanks! I spent a loooong time on her hair. I wanted her to look fabulous (hair-wise) c:

YES! ALL THAT ICE CREAM GONE! such a shame :c

@Soul D: I'm sorry to hear that. Here's the link to my DA gallery. I'll try resizing my pictures before I post them here from now on. How much is cut off when you see them?

I haven't forgotten my promise to resize these. I'm just in desperate need of sleep at the moment (and I wanted to post these right away). I'll be sure to resize them a bit later today.

The first is a WIP of the Peter Pan project I was going to complete.

And the second is a portion of said project (which is probably on hiatus until further notice)
