athdlg's Scrap n' Stuff

Postby athdlg » Sun Jul 13, 2014 8:43 pm

I like to draw. So I would like to share with all of you what I can do.
My deviantart
There are some things that I can't post on there yet since I also do fanfiction and would like to post artwork related to the fanfiction when I actually update it.
That and scraps, a lot of scraps.

Critiques are fine, always up for ways to show how I can improve my art.

This is an OC of mine for Ao no Exorcist. Can't upload it right now on DA, but I was really proud of it and it was done a while ago.
Image

I used this as an excuse to practice flames. I used a scanner mouse so there are lines that look off because of that.
I thought I did well on the hands, but the legs and arms seem to be too small. Also trying to do sinister expressions.

The idea is based off of the next chapter in my fanfiction...or possibly the chapter after the next chapter--whichever, I'm still working on it.

Wow this is better than the two things on your DA, you should update it. The hair and flames are really impressive. I do think your arms and legs are a little small and your neck is a little bit too long though. Did you say you lined this with a mouse?

Thanks! As soon as I update the story itself, that will give me a reason to put that in there...so I need to hurry up.
Yeah, thanks for saying the neck was too long, I wasn't all too sure about it. Now that I have confirmation I will work on that.

No, I inked this. About everything I do is traditional art because I can't get into digital just yet. I scanned the image with a mouse scanner.

We have a Literature Section if you ever want to look for a bit more feedback on your writing :3

I stopped reading Ao No after the demon fungus thing :c
But you art looks nice, the female one looks like she could've been from the show.

Thank you Jesturr, Tenshi Nova, I really appreciate those compliments!

@Tenshi Nova
I have a thing for demons and angels for some reason, it's really interesting to me, so I keep on reading it for that strong that I have. It's nice! Sometimes the art gets really sketchy though, literally. It was as if the artist was needing to speed up their work and so they didn't neatly do the rest of the art on the page.

I saw the Literature Section and I was debating on it. Not sure if my fanfiction would be the best thing for this place...not that I don't want critiques, but most don't seem to enjoy fanfiction. If I do original works, I could try.

I drew this for a friend about a month ago. They paid for a commission from someone else to draw Lag Seeing and they never got it.
They were too scared to even remind the person that they paid for it so I told them that I could probably draw some cruddy thing up for them in thirty minutes to an hour.

This is the result.
Image

I don't even watch/read the manga. I took a reference and I tried to draw. The character looks way older than originally drawn, but I barely took the time to do this so...did not pay attention to the youth of the picture. The eyebrows are drawn thicker on purpose because--my friend really likes thick eyebrows. Also, had some trouble with the inking. I forgot the paper didn't like water based material, and I was using a dip pen but the mess up is still there.

EDIT;;
Sketch of an OC from Kuroshitsuji in the PonPonPon outfit. I waned to ink it but...look at it, it's a mess. I don't have time for that right now!

Not bad but the hair and clothing folds need work.

I have a thing for scythes and reaper/death themes. I was interested in Ao No for a while, but it felt like they couldn't decide what to do with it.

Also, remember that half the updating comics on the site are fanfics :3
In fact, the most viewed Literature Thread atm is bird's PPGD fanfic. I wrote a bit into a Minecraft fanfic too.
In the end it's whatever you feel most comfortable with. c:

@ari-6
I agree, the clothing was what I was intending on practicing with my new works, such as the first image posted.

@Tenshi Nova
It looked like they were wondering how to fill in the space between the time Rin had to be a real Exorcist so they were adding rando junk.

Ah, true. I'll give it a try then! I feel more comfortable now. Probably in the near furture of today or tomorrow.

I love how anime exorcists are nothing like real exorcists. They are all young and fight using shounen powers.

I must say, I like the way you draw anime style, one of my favorite styles, but you do the hair so well! I've seen few who could do hair in pretty good detail such as your self.

How is Ao No Exorcist anyway? I've heard of it, but never got into it.

Satan Slash!

Rin gave a name to his abilities to make it easier to control. He was made fun of instantly.
You have to save the world by the time you're eighteen or you're NOTHING.

I think ULTRADJ just meant my own way of drawing "anime style" and not necessarily all together.

@ULTRADJ
Thank you! I have a lot of fun with hair. Not so much with feet or trying to proportionally make the body to the head or vise-versa.
I really like Ao no Exorcist by a biased opinion, since I like it. The character development is nice, and while the story is...a little scattered to what the point of the plot is (besides following the adventures of Satan's children) I would at least give it a try. The anime is alright, but it voyaged a different adventure all together after episode fourteen or something.

----

I was experimenting with something, seeing if it looked cool or not. This was a WHILE ago, so not really my best work. It was relaxing to draw it though.

Yep, pretty much. Drawing hair and letting it fall down onto invisible shapes, eyes, sometimes the nostrils and opening of the mouth.

Hello there c:
Welcome to the Art Forum!
I'm pretty fond of your Lag Seeing drawing. It's been a while since I've seen the show, but he looks great!
I also really like your Ao No Exorcist OC. Good work on the flames.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work :D

Thank you for the compliments! I found some inspiration last night and was drawing my AnE OC again when wanting to practice some flames, eyes, and teeth. It was nice and I think I figured out why I drew my neck so strangely in other pictures. So it will be fun to upload.

Finished the work that I did the other day.
Well it's not done, I still need to draw and ink the background, but here is the main part of the picture.

Image
This is again, my AnE OC.
It looks a little like Flame Princess from Adventure Time and it did bother me until I didn't care because I thought the hair looked fantastic.

Oooh O: I like how you did her expression
Especially those eyes...

Do you go over your drawings digitally after you scan or something?
Your lines are very clean.

Thank you! I wanted to try and put a deadly or moody expression...something along those lines.

No. I do not go over my drawings digitally, all of these are inked traditionally. I try to keep the paper as clean as possible before scanning as well. That's a really nice compliment to read, actually. So thank you again!
I use a Halo Scanner Mouse, since most of my works are bigger than an average sized scanner. It is pricey, but if you plan on using it often then it is worth it.
