Re: Hiroko's Art Thread - Timid Star Test (01/03/14)

Thanks, Birdot. c:

Anyway...some little digital art test I did on GIMP of Timid Star, a pony version of one of my characters. I have been considering doing an Ask Pony blog on Tumblr using the character for a long while. Still not 100% sure on it, or if I do it, how it should be done, etc, etc...but ah well. At best, this can work as a color palette of sorts for me, I guess, at least for consistency for future digital drawings of him.

I feel like there's a little Dr. Seuss in it. The hair is what really reminds me of it.

That's a really cute Rarity you got there. One thing I like about the way you draw ponies is that you really make them look small with a couple of very round features to me. It makes them look so cute.

Sorry for the late comment to this one Hiroko. Must've slipped past me.

Re: Hiroko's Art Thread - SHSL Pokemon Breeder (02/07/14)

Postby Hiroko » Fri Feb 07, 2014 4:13 am

Here's a quick thing I did tonight because of a joke between a friend and me.

Image

It would be a Dangan Ronpa and Pokemon (with a hint of PMMM in the costume) crossover sort of thing, yeah. Basically I joked that my friends probably see me as Super High School Level Pokemon Breeder, as I have been breeding Pokemon left and right to give away to friends as of late. One such friend responded back by saying I was "PokeGundam," which is a reference to Gundam Tanaka, a character from Super Dangan Ronpa 2, who is SHSL Animal Breeder. I then joked that I should probably style my hair like a sunflower seed like Gundam's, and she replied that I should go with a pink pokepuff instead.

AND THUS, that final comment inspired me to draw this, a character who is "Super High School Pokemon Breeder," who has hair styled after the pink pokepuffs in Pokemon X and Y, and whose costume motif is that of a magical girl (to parallel Gundam's motif of "silly anime supervillian-ness"). Tempted to name her "Madoka Jones," mostly to parallel the naming convention Gundam Tanaka has (weird anime-based given name, extremely common surname).

And that is the explanation for this drawing. :u

As you might be able to tell...I'm still trying to get a grasp on drawing with a tablet. I'm steadily getting better, but it still makes me cringe to look at, considering just how far better I am drawing traditionally. OTL Aiii...I need to practice more. :x

I say its a cute drawing Hiroko. Just keep practicing with that tablet. It took me a while to get use to using one to. You'll be making really cool stuff in no time.

Re: Hiroko's Art Thread - Happy Valentine's Day (02/14/14)

Postby Hiroko » Sat Feb 15, 2014 2:15 am

Wehhhhhhh a quick thing I did for Valentine's Day. I messed up on the composition of the drawing, that not even cropping in could fix, and I didn't want to erase and redraw everything to place the stuff better on the page (the pains of traditional drawings compared to digital drawings, unfortunately), so whoops. Let this be an example of what not to do, asdfjkl;.

I like how Whispers came out, though, at least. :0

So yeah, Happy Valentine's Day!

Re: Hiroko's Art Thread - Homura Akemi (02/22/14)

Postby Hiroko » Sat Feb 22, 2014 3:33 am

Thanks, Exodis.

Now for a new drawing: Homura Akemi from Puella Magi Madoka Magica.

Image

Drew this as a birthday gift for my friend Ceshira--who, by the way, is a fantastic artist herself. If I may shamelessly advertise, here are Ceshira's deviantART and Tumblr. Go check her out, especially if you're a fan of Teen Titans. She does mostly Teen Titans fan art, and likes to dabble in crossover fan art with it, too, including things like Attack on Titan, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and I believe most recently, Disney's Frozen. She also does Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra fan art as well.

So yeah, there you go. XD; Back to the drawing itself, I'm actually really happy with how it came out. I've been struggling for a bit to actually mimic that face Homura makes--I dunno, I guess square, serious eyes are something I'm not super used to--so I'm glad I managed to pull through with it in this drawing.

So yeah. =u=

Your friend seems to be quite the fan of Beast Boy and Raven. Not that I'm complaining. Her stuff looks fantastic, as does this. I don't watch PMMM, but I've heard you bring it up on Skype.

Anyway, well done on this, Hiroko. Keep it up.

Yep. BBRae would be her OTP. She has joked about being "Super High School Level Beast Boy and Raven Shipper" before, lol. XD
And, are you interested in watching PMMM?

Anyways, thanks, Sigment.
