I'm curious to this little overprice white block for a while now, and I'm getting some interest to it for artistic reasons. Sketchbook Pro here seems decent. I was wondering if there are other alternatives?

A has an Ipad. I have played with it. It sucks for art.

Then again, touch screens hate me, so. Take that with a grain of salt.

I dont know, I've seen some pretty jaw dropping pieces of work made on the Ipad

But I wouldn't buy one if you're in it for the artistic reasons, I'd get a drawing tablet instead

Does it actually have pressure sensitivity? Does it have photoshop? Can you use a pencil shaped device to draw on it?

If any of the answers to these questions are no, I say fuck that and get a Cintiq instead.

I remember Wacom did release a drawing stylus for the ipad (or specifically for the sketchbook pro), but from what I saw it doesn't really make any difference. True, the Cintiqs are a dream drawing tool for any digital artist, but they aren't really practical to lug around. I'm very sure that there are other portable sketching pads out there. While the ipad lacks in pressure sensitivity, some artists would always find a way to make the tools bend to their will.

I found this one though, pretty much covers the pros and cons of the Ipad: Motion Computing LS800 Vs. Ipad

Anyone tried it before?

Okay. Here's the deal. Find someone with an Ipad or Iphone or something. Get them to let you play with it for a little while. Seriously.

If you don't have problems with the touch-screen reading the fact that you're actually touching it, you will probably find it to be a fabulous tool that you simply can't live without.

If, on the other hand, you have to sit there with the flat-bored-angry-eyes and press the number two 20 times to get it to actually register that you pushed the damned number? Then you're like me, and can barely use it as an e-book reader (because you have to flip the damned pages 5-7 times for it to register that you've even touched it!).
