You've come a long way korikou, these last few drawings of yours look great. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing your art continue to evolve c:

Agreed. I'm very envious of your skill. You're constantly improving, and your work is always impressive. Keep it up, man. As always, I'm looking forward to your next piece.

I seem to get a lot of compliments like that...I guess improving is my specialty!
It's strange though, nothing really seems different even though I keep improving.
I thought things would be different, thought I would be different but I still feel like the same kid who was posting stuff like this
Image
I don't know, I just thought I'd be doing something different when I got to a certain level ya know?
It's still incredibly amazing to draw and stuff.....it's just part of me feels like I'm doing something wrong...
Is that a weird feeling to have?

Feeling that you're doing something wrong? Hmm... From my experience, I say that's normal. I take it as there's still lots to learn from (at an art perspective, y'know).

If you feel like that urge is stronger than usual, find out what you're doing wrong, and fix it so it feels a little less wrong. And keep fixing it. And fixing it. Feel like something else is wrong? Track that down and fix that too.

I personally think it's just a package deal that comes with improvement. You start seeing things you didn't see before, for better or for worse. Well, probably for better because then you can see clearly where you have improved, and see where you haven't. At the parts you haven't, you can strive to make it better. Take what you suck at, and keep on working on it until you're not so suck-y. Hopefully.

But for worse you might tell yourself you should give up, you're never going to get good because damn it everything looks like utter poo-poo. If you do think that, you need a slap to the face because giving up isn't going to make that pile poo go away. Only your actions, your improvement, your strive to be better and get better is going to turn that pile of dung into usable fertilizer so your future endeavors can sprout and thrive.

Anyways, everything seems different man. You went from lined paper and terrible doodles of anime characters to digitized full colored cute pictures of anime ladies in their underwear (it's a complement. Although your anatomy and proportions do need a little work. You can look at photos of people and draw those. Pay attention to the size of things in relation to each other. Use the head as a unit of measure).

So keep it up! And honestly no one knows what the future holds or what your art's going to look like at whatever level.

And here I am, stuck on page two and feeling like an ass. Haven't had the time to spare for drawing for quite a while now, so... yeah.

Anyway, good post.

Question, do you guys think I would make in the commissions game?
I was thinking I might start doing commissions and maybe I could make some money?
I know I'm nothing like Bleedman and the rest but do you guys think someone would actually wanna pay for a picture of mine?

Didn't you announce that you were open for commissions some time ago?

As a living? Honestly, no.
Your art is good, but it can still use some refinement.

Don't be discouraged. Even if commissions don't roll in art first, the more you improve the more recognition you'll gain. If you try to rush into something, you may be disappointed.
Look at Bleed from the beginning, it took him a number of years before he reached his current status and reputation, both good and bad.

That sounds like some sound advice from Tenshi. I don't know if you wanted money for commissions because you liked the idea of getting payed or because you are genuinely in need of the money. My advice would be to remain an unprofessional artist for as long as possible. It is allot more fun and much less stressful. And if you do intend to do this professionally one day and not just for fun, then I would say the same thing. Try to keep it casual for as long as you are able. You can use the time to build up your skill for when you one day try to take it on as a job.

Don't take it the wrong way, Kori. You're a good artist. But it's a big step to start taking commissions. Especially as a means of support. I'd have to agree with Tenshi and Ari, and say that you should keep things casual for a while longer, continue honing your skills.

'Course, what do I know? I'm less skilled artist compared to you and Ari.

Shinbai Academy is a high status school created for the purpose of teaching students the importance of competition in life.

It is for that reason that the different uniforms for each season, while provided for each and every student free of charge, vary greatly in quality of fabric and proper size measurements based off of a students grades, achievements and overall status.

The winter uniform our school appointed model (and kidnap victim) is sporting now is of the highest grade and works to keep out the cold without making the body sweat. Nearly perfect insulation and incredibly breathable fabric make the Shinbai Academy's uniforms an incredible feat of both fashion and science.

Luckily, Kitsune gets to keep this outfit due to him being a good sport about this forcefully imposed photo shoot and the many kidnappings over the years (you didn't think he just wears all that stuff for the fun of it did you?)
Plus he's like a triple A student!

Little bit of criticism, either add more hair or add the eye. The face just looks a bit empty without anything there O.o imo

A few pages back, someone told me I had that problem
Image

I changed the shading on the left side of the face to take away the empty space look it had, I also redrew the glasses so they were behind his hair which kinda helps the illusion (why would the eye be behind the hair but the glasses in front of the hair????)

Thanks for the critique, I really need them now more than ever.

PS. Guys, I can draw ears now! Another lesson under my belt, I'll keep trying until you think I'm ready to be a real artist (don't take that the wrong way)

Im noticing your character's clothes seem to be poofed out. which gives them a very box like frame and takes away any curves from their body.

Maybe try drawing them with clothes that are tighter, showing off their frame and anatomy more.

I got bored and drew Yuu-san, I don't draw him enough anyway and when I drew Kitsune with glasses it made me think about what Yuu san would like with glasses

He has the "why am I even here?" expression because he has no idea why the school asked him to do this picture

I find it strange that you draw such a fit torso on the guy, yet his arms just seem... normal, ya know? Almost like the only workout he ever does is sit-ups and other torso/abdomen-related stuff.

Don't get me wrong though, this looks great.

Your faces and hair styles are defined and smooth, so you don't need to work on them nearly as much. right now my suggestion would be to start looking up anatomy sketches, like on DA and google. Look up "male (or female) anatomy sketchs" and spend some time drawing naked people. Work on muscle builds and portioning and getting a better understanding of how different muscles fold into each other. Especially when it comes to males. There's several muscle groups that fold and pinch together, like the shoulder cap or at the back of their elbows.

Clothing and stuff tends to come a bit more naturally once you've got the bodies themselves down pat. That and clothing can distract you from tackling anatomy. I know it's uncomfortable, but to force yourself to focus on the bodies, try not drawing in the head and face. Leave it as a circle and just work on the body itself.

It's uncomfortable leaving your comfort zone of bust shots. I still do it as much as I can. I like working with positioning, but I have to force myself to draw from different angles and perspectives. For the most part, I do a lot of tracing, and it helps me get a feel for wrist movement. There's nothing wrong with doing study sketches and tracing, there's a lot to learn from it! The more you learn from others, the more you'll see your own style of art branch out when you free hand some pieces.

I know!
I'm happy with my proportions most of the time but I can't draw muscles! I don't really practice a lot but that's only because the only person in my story with muscles to have are Yuu-san and I rarely ever draw him at all.

I mainly draw Kitsune and Akane and neither of them have really muscular bodies.

Also, I hide Kitsune's body on purpose, he doesn't really like being mistaken for a girl so he often hides his very unmasculine, strangely curvacious body behind things like sweaters and shirts that are a size too big for him.

And Akane, well she usually wears no clothes at all so I really haven't run into a problem with what I think the clothes should look like on her but I usually draw them close to her body when I do give her clothing

http://simsterd.deviantart.com/art/A-Tr ... -425392043
http://simsterd.deviantart.com/art/Chap ... -396627515
Those are my only examples...she does not wear clothes often.

It doesn't hurt to practice. You're not losing much but time and maybe a few resources depending on what you're using to practice on in exchange for some skill points to level up anatomy understanding. It's something nice to have in case you're going to draw him again in the future or even create other characters with a build similar to his.

But if time is limited, then it's understandable.

It's spring time over here so enough of the winter pics and time for the bright cheery stuff!

I'm gonna keep drawing Kitsune in more "masculine" clothing, people mistake him for a girl a lot so I have to make sure that he's recognized as a boy which means
No more fox hoodies!
No more cosplay!
And No more cute stuff!
