Coos: I'm not gonna lie, it's definitely daunting when you first pick it up. It's like there's countless things you can do with it and even hidden features that you really have to dig to find out about, but I guess that's what you should expect with an industry standard program like Maya.

But really, once you actually get the hang of using Maya and modeling in general, it becomes pretty easy. If you can model in one program, it's pretty likely that you can model in any so once you get the hang of the basics and get passed the learning curve, it'll become smoother. =] And you'll love seeing the results.

Aw sick.
And I would also be able to practice it at my friends house cuz he has it.

Coos: Awesome. =D And just a note: tutorials are you best friends. And so is this site: http://cgtalk.com/ Best 3D artists on the net.

Anywho, here's another personal project of mine. I did this as soon as I was coming back from my hiatus. I had a huge mixture of emotions going on in my head and these kinds of things tend to be the result lol Hope you enjoy looking as much as I enjoyed drawing.

Thank you. =] I really appreciate it since this one means a lot to me personally. Sadly, it's one of my less popular ones on DA. :(

Coos: Um.. I can't remember exactly, but I think maybe about a day on and off, give or take since I had some issues getting the glare from the sun the way I wanted...

Just thought I'd post this up real quick so I can (sort of) keep the 3D pieces together here (even though I skipped one).
But anywho, I just rendered and edited this last night. I found a new "HD" setting on the renderer and wanted to see how "HD" it really was. And it was. lol Though it sort of lost some of that after I brought it into photoshop but I basically just wanted to use it as a wallpaper so I figured I'd post it up as well.

Awesome work Sfox! You are becoming very well rounded on different media, a serious plus! I commented on you DA side as well.
I also hope things are going or at least getting better. I do understand that "S" just happens and, you just have to deal with it the best you can.

That pottery looks simply AMAZING. Awesome photo-realistic art.
That flying-turtle-riding picture looks incredibly well colored. It's too cool for words.
And 3D walking bombs are awesome, too. Way cool.

Thanks. =] I enjoy trying different things and I figure it helps to be well-rounded, rather than only able to do one specific type. Especially if I plan on doing concept work. Thanks for the support on DA. Yeah things are getting better. Slowly but surely. Drawing and music are my outlets though, so I'm usually fine after I indulge in one or the other.

For 3D art I use Maya 2008 to model and render (the built in mental ray renderer) and then transfer to photoshop to do color correction, blurring background elements (adding noise and grain in the pots' case), etc. And for my regular drawings/paintings I use photoshop and occasionally Paint Tool SAI. :)

hehe I've never actually made a tutorial before.. I suppose I could at least screencap as I go. I'm working on something new anyway..

Thanks for the support guys. =D you don't know how appreciative I am. I get so much feedback here, you guys are awesome. =]

I'm glad things are getting better, sometimes you just have to ride the wave the best you can. It's also good that you have an outlet
to get away. Yeah, like I say previously you are becoming well rounded when it comes to art since you are experimenting with all kinds of things.
That is very cool! Keep the great work!

;) thanks all. i'm gonna start screencapping my process tonight when I get to work on the new picture. For anyone that hasn't seen it on DA already, here's the sketch. I decided to go with just one person (male, because i rarely draw males) and keep the large moon so that I have a good light source. Thanks for the input on DA lpsalsaman. =]

This is another old piece but it was actually a remake of an even older piece. The original was my first real try at painting so I decided to redo it and see if I could make it better than my original. Even still, this was done about a year back.

(still working on the moonlight mushrooms picture, slowly but surely haha)
