Thanks lpsalsaman. =D

Naur you changed it. lol Your sigs are always awesome, either way.

Anywho, just thought I'd slab on another piece here. This was somewhat of a collab (Nefis on DA drew the lineart and made it available to all on her page) All the coloring and lighting and whatnot is done by me.

This was for The World Ends With You contest on DA. This wasn't even one of the considered entries (DA chooses about 50 top entries before they send it out to SquareEnix for the final judging. One of my GD friends told me), but I'm still really happy with it. And that's rare for me lol It's really the first time I actually tried any type of dynamic angles and coloring all in one so I guess that's why I'm attached to it. *shrug*

hehe actually it wasn't even supposed to be Cloud but I realized it ended up looking like him after I had already finished coloring. I had designs in my sketchbook for each individual character here and his hair was more flowy. But yup we'll just call him Cloud for now. lol

I've been thinking about your picture up there...

The pic is ok, but it would look more impressive if you added details to the architecture in the background. It looks empty...

Thanks for the tip. =] Though, details were actually intentionally left out of this one, save for the middle and side buildings (just done to help the composition). I was trying to emphasize emotion through color and dynamic angles, rather than strenuous details. I wanted people to focus more on the picture's impact as a whole instead of looking at details, which is why the characters are really the only ones with any kind of detail at all. I was trying to have the color scheme and perspective be enough to drive the emotion of the picture.

Another contest picture. This time for Nickelodeon's Avatar contest for the season finale. Once again, didn't even place in the top 10 here. You can see the top 10 winners shown at the avatar panel here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1kfzQ_BThc.

Even still, I'm really happy with how mine turned out. I spent a lot of time on it (literally, I was up till 5am for a week doing it lol) Hope you like. =]

SFOX that is a great drawing, is to bad that you weren't within the top 10. I guess by looking at the entries, they wanted the whole group instead of just Aang by himself. When looking at the entries, the ones from 10 thru maybe 5 or 6, weren't all that hot. I say the last 4 entries were better than the rest. Your pic looks great and the colors are awesome, great job!

Before you take what I say to heart, let me mention that that drawing KICKS ASS!!!

My critique; The rocks seem a little too shiny, almost like ice.

Still kick ass.

The rocks and fire are painted wrong. The rock is too shiny (I thought it was ice!) and the fire almost looks like it's still and doesn't really resemble flames. Where's the smoke?

But what bothers me the most is that you left pencil lines of Yaang's (glowing) eyes visible. It looks so wrong.

Your art renews my sense of uselessness. ;D
Good thing I moved on to other things... ;P
Haha.
Your art's amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of detail in the skyline of "The World Ends with You".
If you'd done as much detail as you have on your other works...
;P

I guess this too great of a picture then, was it? But I'll keep those suggestions in mind for next time. This was really my first time doing any kind of elements at all though, so I actually followed the way Joe Madureira does rocks rather than anything I knew myself but I was hoping it would look more like slate than anything else.

Anyway here's something a little recent I suppose.

Thanks everyone! I've been going through some rough times lately and I'm just now getting back in the groove of drawing and all that so I have a lot of pictures to update with. Here's one I just posted to DA. This was a 3D test where I was trying to achieve photorealism. I think it's pretty close but who am I to say?

And I just took some shots of the viewport in Maya just in case anyone was interested.

I like what I see. I never could get use to Maya. Of course my teacher didn't know what she was doing in it either so it didn't help >3>

I'm gonna be learning Maya next year.

Is it hard to use?

Thanks guys. =D I'm glad I succeeded.

Coos: I'm not gonna lie, it's definitely daunting when you first pick it up. It's like there's countless things you can do with it and even hidden features that you really have to dig to find out about, but I guess that's what you should expect with an industry standard program like Maya.

But really, once you actually get the hang of using Maya and modeling in general, it becomes pretty easy. If you can model in one program, it's pretty likely that you can model in any so once you get the hang of the basics and get passed the learning curve, it'll become smoother. =] And you'll love seeing the results.
