David's Art

Postby Rezby » Mon Jul 20, 2009 4:00 am

So, I began to draw recently. A few nights ago, I uploaded most of my works to DA and also showed them to Twilight Flame, and I was told their reminiscent of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. That makes sense, I loved the movie and the art (This Is Halloween is an awesome song, btw. Its on my iPod because I love it that much).

So, with only 1 further ado, I shall now post my art itself. Here's link to DA: http://davidka1.deviantart.com/ and now for the art: (By the way, each picture is also a link to the DA page)

Criticisms are welcome, as are any tips and advice I can be offered on how to draw better and not like a horrid newb. (Yes, I know I ought to be ashamed of myself for drawing the TP Triforce so horridly)

You might wanna try adding more detail, I mean, we've all been there, normally toward the beginning of our drawing lives, but you just gotta' work on it, keep going with it, and you'll get better.

 That
You might also want to draw on white paper instead of lined paper.
Most people find lined/squared paper disruptive.
It's not enough to have no thoughts.
You gotta be unable to express them.

I also wouldn't add that onto DA. I would have used Photobucket or picoodle.com
Working on another story other than Hellfire, called Geistauge, which can be found here.

I draw on whatever I have available to me. I draw almost all all of them during Chemistry class at summer school, and when thats gonna end this week, I'll just draw during the normal school year during Biology class (Because as interesting as science is, lectures are as boring as fuck if you have nothing to do to occupy your hands. Drawing is great for this).

Add more detail? Please be more specific in what you mean. Most of them are but abstract doodles.

And now for some more 'art', construed today.

First things first: You have an awesome avatar. As in, if it wasn't taken already, I would so use it myself.

Now, on to business. I want to be able to draw humans, human bodies proportionally, human faces somewhat correctly (added creepiness factor makes every drawing better). I guess once I can do that, I'll be able to draw the other things easier.

As to what I want to improve on, what are my weaknesses?

Your faces are extremely simple, lack of any detail I would appreciate. Also, use white paper.
Disclaimer: If you don't agree with my opinion, I'm not a comic reviewer or a writer, I'm just an asshole. Also, I'm probably drunk right now.

Drew another one (Actually two, but the other was just a generic person in my drawing style, which I drew on somebody's grade print out while he wasn't at his desk) during class today. Going on vacation to Switzerland on Sunday, expect a bunch of drawings when I get back.

Yeah, that one long arm is a bit of a fuck up. Also the TV + remote are horribly drawn. Other than that, I don't think it was done too terribly. Criticisms welcome, as always.

I think wine bottles would be more appropriate here.
The pitchers make it look like a super Lemonade Stand to me. :P
