So, yeah. Back. Maybe for good, maybe for intermittent times.

But here, some art. WARNING, THERE MAY BE ARTISTIC NUDITY BELOW!

First, my masterpiece of my first okonomiyaki I ever cooked:
Image

Next, my third ever icing rose, for decorating a cake:

Now, some 3dart. None of this is modeled myself...only composition, although I did learn how to use magnets and the morph brush. I'll be opening up the pandora's box of Blender soon to learn how to actually model, instead of just pose and compose.

"Dramatique"

"Tree Ninja"

"Dance Thing"

"Bath Time"

"Death of Obsidian Butterflies"

In Progress works:

"Radiant Daughter of the Weeping Lotus"

Huh. Didn't quite expect that all of a sudden. Welcome back.

It's hard to comment on the 3D, but if the "Radiant Daughter" is where you start, and the first picture is where you end, I'm impressed.

No one expects the Inquisition!

The first picture, "Dramatique" is actually super-duper simple to set up. It's all in the lighting and skin settings. The Radiant Daughter is supposed to be a far more complex scene with a trio of fantasy characters...But I have to learn to model to do The First Hero's Helmet...and I'm having problems with Noh's albino-skin-and-moonsilver-tattoos. Sadly, the purple-haired chick is the only one who's character is mine, so I have more leeway with her than the others who will be in the shot.

Maybe I should do a youtube video about the process of setting up a scene in PP2012. Hmm...

Welcome back, that stuff looks awesome. I really like Dramatique, looks damn near real. It's not real, right?

Thanks, guys. ^_^

Been working on a slight retool of Whisper's character design for Imenak's X game...

Image

Planning to do a short comic...but I have two other characters to design for it, first.

These are really good and that first girl looks eerily realistic. I almost thought it was a photo from where my computer screen was sitting. Very well done.

Tom>> Thankee. Most of it is better tools...and practice, but I will nom that compliment cookie right up!

Mutt>> Thanks! I am super proud of that one. ^_^

Rock>> I do a little commission work here and there, but mostly I've just been diddling around with Poser and pre-rigged stuff. Now that I've gotten kind of a handle on the basics of animation using pre-rigged models and whatnot, though, I've resolved to learn how to model myself. I picked up Blender and have been working through a few tutorials. I made a box! Ehehe. Heh...

But on the other side of that, I've been working with some more advanced rendering stuff. Physically correct lighting in Luxrender and shader creation in PP2012. And I just got gifted a year to Adobe's Creative Cloud, so I'm taking advantage of Photoshop Extended to try and brush up on my texturing...'cause it can use brushing up.

And yep! Okonomiyaki is often called "Japanese pizza" or the "as you like it pancake". It's essentially a savory pancake batter with cabbage and whatever else you want in it. This one had leek and shrimp! ^_^ Was pretty good, but I think I do chicken katsu better (and I'm in love with tonkatsu sauce, nomnomnom!), hehe.

Wow, all of these are so amazing! My favorites are "Dance Thing" and "Bath Time", I think the composition in them are the most interesting. "Dramatique" really does look like a photo like Mad said, at first I thought you were posting photography work :D

awsome! shrimp with pankakes, that sounds interesting. Whats pp2012? shader stuff is on my list of stuff to learn as games engines use them. Ive herd alot of good things about blender, I hear there trying to compete with the top modeling software and its also free, so. How far are you planning to take this modeling thing?

If I may ask, how do you find people wanting commissions?

Askura>> Thanks! I spent a really long time on both Dance Thing and Bath Time, so I'm really happy that someone finally commented on their composition! ^_^

Rock>> PP2012 is Poser Pro 2012. Have you seen the RWBY trailers yet? The whole series is being done in Poser.

Ideally, I'd like to learn how to model things like clothing, and break into the market for pre-rigged objects for the Poser crowd, like over at Renderosity. Even if I don't, though...I find it way easier to express myself art-wise in this medium than drawing, so it'll always be a hobby, at the least. ^_^

As for commissions, they're usually friends or friends-of-friends who want me to do portraits of their characters or things like that. Nothing hugebucks and not very often, sad to say.

inorite? Poser hasn't been taken very seriously in the animation world until this, 'cause it's only a few hundred dollars, versus things like Maya and CD4, which are thouuuuuusands.

There's supposed to be some tutorials being made on how to achieve the clean cartoon-w/line effect (completely inside Poser, no postwork!) that Monty's done here. I'm really looking forward to absorbing that knowledge!
