Safe Zone's eyes panned over Surface Tension. While the elf's sociopathically sadistic nature seemed to erase most of the traces of mental fatigue, there was no denying that Swift Strike would probably be doing most of the physical work. The aftereffects of draining weren't so easy to bypass, even with a strong will. Swift Strike had already proven he was more than capable, but there was always the chance something unexpected would occur.
"Be careful," was the first thought that came to Safe Zone's mind, but he realized such a platitude would be useless and tactlessly trite in this situation. Verbally displaying concern was apparently not one of his strong points.
"After you guys are done, meet us in the main control car."
Criminals. They'd probably laugh if he said anything other than practical suggestions. Still, Surface Tension had drained himself to protect them, even if he was pissed about it, and Swift Strike had a merciful streak large enough to encompass all the guards on the train, it would appear. Even the recalcitrant Time Bomb and introverted Spiderling had acquiesced to their teammates' suggestions. If nothing else, he wanted to make sure they knew he was grateful.
"Hey, guys," he added after a pause, "Thanks. For working together, I mean--with everyone else, that is. And each other, too. That's--yeah, thanks."
"Nope. Never trying that again." He grimaced. Now that he'd finished looking like an idiot, he quickly turned to Spiderling to look busy.
"Point us towards the control car and let's go."
"Please," he pleaded mentally.
