Surface relieved the spell of silence, but not the spell of invisibility, speaking in a quiet whisper he said "We're going to need to be veerrrrry quiet, its the only way to prolong this spell, if it doesn't work, well then I'm slitting his throat, then the next one that comes, then I'm going to find the others before they suspect something , and I'll kill them too, feel free to go with time bombs plan AFTER I kill them, but we dont want them alerting any unnecassary police just yet if it can be avoided, side note, we should get some kind of headset devices, this splitting up thing is working we-"

Thats when he heard the ticket master attempting to open the door

Spiderling jumped in her seat when Safe Zone touched her arm. She was naturally jumpy. She paid attention to the message he spelled out on her skin and began combing the matrix for the camera system of the train. She didnt move her arm while she searched. Her fingers, however moved as though they ran along threads upon threads. The spider moving across her web. She found what she was looking for after a few long minutes. Not just the camera controls. The door locks as well. She traced a skinny finger on Safe Zones arm.

FOUND IT. STAY QUIET.

She shushed the group quietly and activated the lock on the door for the ticket master. She let go of Safe Zone and tried to stay as quiet as she could. She began watching the camera feeds for the entire train, taking not of the number of personnel on the train they may have to cut down in order to get away safe.

Russ tried his hand at the locked door once more out of frustration. Strangely it managed to open this time "Huh, looks like it might have been a busted lock. Hey Marty call back and tell them it was nothin'" Russ informed his partner, Marty nodded and went to call for a cancellation. "Fragin' train is comin apart" Russ complained, he sighed and headed for Cart #4. "Hey...wait a sec Russ" Marty said looking at the ceiling "Do yah see dat slump there on top?" He said pointing to what a part as a concave on the ceiling, as if something heavy was on top of the train cart. "Yeah drek, look like the mechanic is gonna have to go up there and take a look, fragging drek as if there ain't enough problems" Russ said as he was dialing the number

Time Bomb was tense, he knew that if they called the mechanic to check the roof that they'd find Raiden and Red Queen "Can I knock them out, please?" He requested, he didn't like having to ask for permission to knock someone out. But he heeded the Suited Mans warnings about cause trouble near New York. And after the whole garbage can fiasco he didn't want to take any risks that his companions might not want.

"Frag it, do it, spiderling, If yyou would be so incline, please shut down their ability to call for help while I go take down the rest of the ticket masters, should we need to take hostages, I dont want them spoiling the fun. "

Surface laughed to himself he was slowly becoming the defacto leader of this ragtag group.

Safe Zone

Postby (CH3)3CLi » Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:58 pm

One mental sigh of relief was quickly followed by the annoying realization that the ticket masters were unexpectedly observant.

He heard Time Bomb's whispered request and quickly racked his brain for a solution. Even if the problem was temporarily solved, once the two of them woke up, there'd be hell to pay, but they had to prevent that maintenance call from going through. There wasn't enough time to trace a message to Spiderling and he didn't want to risk another whisper while the ticket masters were still so close by....

Actually, this could work out. It wasn't like they'd be repeat customers.

Surface Tension cut through his thoughts, but he agreed with the immediate choice.

"Yeah. Better yet, don't just knock out. Drag them in here first and kill them quietly. But don't go crazy, yet, Surface. We can probably still avoid a raised alarm if you've got enough magic left in you for an illusion."

Ey, chummer, you try carrying the mental weight of five people for that long, Its easier for me to break in and kill the rest. Of the ticket masters"

surfaces invisibility spell was beginning to wain ans he was feeling tired, so much so he almost began to nod off.

Surface simply stuck his hand out of the booth, quickly knocked on the door to his booth and retrwated his hand back into the cart, to attract the attention of the ticket masters to the noise.

"Ready big guy?" Surface said, turning to time bomb and giving a thumbs up.

Safe Zone

Postby (CH3)3CLi » Tue Apr 08, 2014 10:43 pm

"Well, guess that idea's down the drain," Safe Zone thought as he poured regenerative magic into Surface Tension, his hands glowing an eerie shade of pale blue. He felt the drain starting to kick in, but he hadn't spent nine years under brutal conditions and ridiculous healing demands for nothing. He could take this.

"Come on, chummer. Don't pass out on me just yet. Didn't you say you were going to kill everybody? Get that psycho leader thing going if we're going to do this. We need you."

He heard the ticket masters nearby.

"No, leave the one that comes in to Time." Swift's first words since the invisibility kicked in. He almost felt forgotten about. "I'll take out other one down before he can call for help." With luck, the knock on the door got their attention before they finished dialing for the mechanic. If not, then they'd have to knock him out too, and maybe a few others. "Just remember not to kill them."

"You sure about letting them live? We'll be knocking out more than just two now, it seems. If any of them wake up, they'll just scream for the alarm."

It wasn't that Safe Zone had any misgivings about Swift Strike's abilities, but he didn't want to risk the possibility that someone they had knocked out would be a little more robust than the average guard or ticket master. Just one person waking up a little early would probably get them all close to killed, if not all the way there.

Safe Zone was still maintaining the healing stream on a woozy Surface Tension. Just restoring the strength drained by the physical exhaustion side alone was immense. Cloaking and muting five people was actually pretty incredible, all things considered. Who knows how long this guy would have slept if the fatigue had fully hit? He could feel his breaths coming in shorter and shorter gasps as the drain slowly worsened. He would have to stop soon or risk not having enough magic for the fight ahead.

"They'll be under for a while. If nothing else, we'll have time to sort out the next step." Talking was starting to get risky with the guards likely getting ready to enter, assuming they even heard the knock. Trouble was, he couldn't signal them to stop talking. After all, who would see it? "If they do enter, take or disable their radios. We'll find somewhere to stuff 'em after they're out cold."

Safe Zone grinned. Swift Strike having a merciful side was unexpected, though a pleasant surprise. He knew the elf was just following the Striped One's orders, but going this far to keep innocent bystanders alive wasn't in the instructions. After all, their boss had only preferred a peaceful exit out of New York City, not ordered it. It was even the boss who had suggested they could kill all the guards at the train station. Through it all, Swift Strike had never insisted on killing the obstacles as Surface Tension had, and the one instance he suggested killing guards had been prefaced with the option to knock them out, instead.

Safe Zone suspected Swift Strike was a lot kinder than he let on, though he bet that kindness took a backseat when it came to completing the job. It wasn't something to count on, that was certain, but the fact it existed at all in a hard-boiled criminal made him wonder if this group wasn't completely beyond hope. The capacity to care, even if barely, about someone else was a necessary component to teamwork, after all.

He felt a bit relieved, despite the situation. Looks like the criminals weren't all inherently evil. Trustworthy, though? Only time would tell.

The sound of footsteps alerted him. His eyes darted to the door of the booth. Would the ticket masters come back in to check or just continue moving on? Either response would still mean two knock-outs were required, though. One was just more hassle than the other.

He slowed the stream of healing magic to a trickle before gently severing the connection. That would have to be enough for Surface to go on.

The Ticket master became frustrated now. "Alright who the frag is in he-"his sentence was cut short by a punch from Time Bomb. Before his unconscious body fell to the ground Time Bomb pulled him into the booth as not to cause a sound. Time Bomb nodded at Surface signaling that it was his turn now. So far their efforts at team work have been only pure strategy. Time Bomb is interested in finding out if they can work together when it comes to pain and violence. The second ticket master turned around and wondered where his partner vanished to. He saw the door to booth #5 swinging a little bit and assumed that's where his partner went in. "Hey Russ..yah in there chummer?"

Safe Zone watched Time Bomb drag the unconscious ticket master named "Russ" into the booth, quickly grabbing the radio hanging from the guy's belt. He considered a quick jolt of lightning to break it, but realized it would be put to better use in someone else's hands. As Surface Tension's weakening invisibility spell continued flickering them out of and back into the visible spectrum of light, he pressed the radio into Spiderling's hand. No call was incoming, so it seemed they had succeeded in preventing the maintenance request.

"Disable the sounds coming from it so it doesn't give away our location, but use it to tap into their audio communications so you can have eyes and ears all over the train. Can you do that?" He whispered the question quickly, expecting the arrival of the second ticket master.

It was time for Swift to move, and he didn't waste any time. Putting all focus into closing the distance to the other ticket master, he exited the door and grabbed the target by the mouth before he had time to react. Hand to his mouth, he got behind him and put him in a chokehold. The grip was tight enough that it was all the poor bastard could think about. Three... two... one. He felt the body go limp as the ticket master lost consciousness. Afterwards, he carried the body to the team's booth and quietly laid him on the ground.

"Okay..." He was struggling to speak with how out of breath he was. He usually never pushed himself to go so fast, but the timing called for it. "So... what now...? Take their radios...? Lock 'em in here...?"

"Just give the radios to Spiderling. She'll be able to coordinate us if she knows the enemy movements. And definitely gag them and lock them in here."

Safe Zone was impressed. Swift Strike's name wasn't just a moniker, after all. That speed and efficiency merited the code name.

He thought for a second. With the immediate threat past, he spoke freely.

"What do you guys think about stealing some of the passengers' ticket stubs as we move around the train? If anyone asks, we could just be heading to the dining car or the restrooms. It would prevent us from looking too suspicious and enable us to move around freely so long as we have proof that we're supposed to be on this train. Spiderling can tell us where nearby passengers are for us to take down and rob. Best part is, it would allow us to walk straight to the control car and take out the nearby guards so she can hijack the train. That way we won't have to worry about the train's alarm or those pesky stops and possible inspections. At least until we reach our destination."

After Swift Strike subdued the ticket master Spiderling grabbed his radio and scanned it with her goggles. "I have the frequency." She than plugged in to the trains systems. The feed from each camera displayed on her goggles as she watched.

"I see all of them....I can monitor movements and chatter while we are on board. I cant see Red Queen or Raiden on the roof." She continued to crawl through every file of data on the server. She reached out with her spindly arm as if to grab hold of something. In the matrix, she flipped a switch. In reality, she swatted at air. "The alarms will no longer sound."

"You're amazing. Has anyone ever told you that?" Safe Zone addressed Spiderling as she traversed the Matrix. This girl could do anything in the Matrix, it seemed, and for the technically deficient like him, she seemed like a miracle worker.

"Do you know how many ticket masters are still present? They need to be silenced before they start questioning where their coworkers are. We also need to prevent the conductors from communicating with anyone. Spiderling, do you think you could disrupt communications from the conductors to the guards? As long as the train guards are oblivious to the missing ticket masters, we won't have to worry as long as we've got ticket stubs.

Oh, and, if you could, please lock the conductors inside the main control room for now, so they don't physically go out to find help."

Swift watched with a slight chuckle as Safe admired Spiderling's hacking abilities. Of course, he was impressed as well, what with her getting into these systems with such little effort. Swift took a deep breath as he finished recovering from his previous efforts. "I can help with the guards. On a train like this, there shouldn't be too many." Surface looked to be rather tired from keeping them all invisible, so he probably wasn't going to be able to assist them in dealing with the guards.

"So here's an idea. A few of us split up to take down any guards they find, put 'em in empty booths. Spiderling can keep us up to date if we take the radios that these guys had... I think." He looked to the hacker to confirm. He had tech experience, but he was no master. "Can ya monitor the frequency while we take the radios, or will ya need to hold onto one?"

It took a moment for Spiderling to respond to Swift Strikes question. She had a lot of things to watch and hear at once. He voice distorted slightly as she spoke. "I have the frequency now. They are using the first three channels to communicate on these radios. Switch your radios to channel five and they wont be able to hear us." The display on her goggles changed again to the flowing code and she turned her attention to the trains security systems. She now had eyes and ears all over this train.

"All right, how should we split up?"

Safe Zone was worried about how long they had before the absence of two ticket masters was noticed. Whatever they were going to do, it needed to be done quickly.

"I think Spiderling needs to get to that main control panel, though."

Swift evaluated the team to figure out how to split them up. Surface's condition was still difficult to tell for now, but if he could move he could help. Spiderling was the hacker and therefore needed to be protected for the sake of getting her to the main controls. Safe was smart, good with healing, but he wasn't exactly the fighting type. And Time Bomb had already displayed his strength. All together, he thought things out. Working on contracts alone was usually his style, but so was general evaluation of a situation, so hopefully he could do this.

"Both groups need a pointman to take down anyone they find, so I'll head one group, and Time can take the second group. Spiderling can go with Time, and make their way to those controls. Safe, you should go with Time Bomb and Spiderling, help keep her safe 'til she gets there. Surface? If you're up to it, come with me and we'll clear out the other direction. Sound good to everyone?"

Time Bomb nodded in agreement. He's glad he was chosen for this role. While he was more of an explosives kind of troll he had no issue knocking out people instead.

It reminded him of the old days when he was a hired thug signed to protect a mob boss. He had taken bullets for a scrawnly little elf before. By the pay out was a lot bigger then than now.

Safe Zone's eyes panned over Surface Tension. While the elf's sociopathically sadistic nature seemed to erase most of the traces of mental fatigue, there was no denying that Swift Strike would probably be doing most of the physical work. The aftereffects of draining weren't so easy to bypass, even with a strong will. Swift Strike had already proven he was more than capable, but there was always the chance something unexpected would occur.

"Be careful," was the first thought that came to Safe Zone's mind, but he realized such a platitude would be useless and tactlessly trite in this situation. Verbally displaying concern was apparently not one of his strong points.

"After you guys are done, meet us in the main control car."

Criminals. They'd probably laugh if he said anything other than practical suggestions. Still, Surface Tension had drained himself to protect them, even if he was pissed about it, and Swift Strike had a merciful streak large enough to encompass all the guards on the train, it would appear. Even the recalcitrant Time Bomb and introverted Spiderling had acquiesced to their teammates' suggestions. If nothing else, he wanted to make sure they knew he was grateful.

"Hey, guys," he added after a pause, "Thanks. For working together, I mean--with everyone else, that is. And each other, too. That's--yeah, thanks."

"Nope. Never trying that again." He grimaced. Now that he'd finished looking like an idiot, he quickly turned to Spiderling to look busy.

"Point us towards the control car and let's go."

"Please," he pleaded mentally.

Spiderling looked through the camera feed again. She found one for the control console and it displayed again on her goggles. "Found it. This way." She pointed towards the front of the train. "There are three guards between here and the console. One ticket master. Several passengers in booths." She looked in the matrix and found something that might be useful. "I will lock all booths between us and the controls. We will only have a minute or two before the passengers get suspicious."

Spiderling look at the camera feed again to double check the numbers and positions. "There are two guards in Car 2. One in Car 1. the ticket master will reach this car in thirty seconds." She remotely locked the door between cars to stall the ticket master while she got the locations of the rest of the crew. "The Conductor and two engineers are in Car 0. I also see one guard in Car 5 and a ticketmaster about to enter Car 6." Spiderling looked again at the feed. "No wait...two more guards in Car 6 and 7. One is going to one one of the booths, the other looks like hes having a smoke break in between cars 7 and 8. If you time it right the last guard wont see you take out the other."
