Crossing the Veil (OOC)

Postby KazeXDZ » Thu Nov 14, 2013 3:52 pm

Death. It's almost as old as life. Everybody dies eventually. Death is everywhere. Every day there are new germs, toxins, injuries, illnesses and catastrophes for us to face. The fact we survive at all is miraculous.

On the other side of death stand the Reapers. Reapers used to be human, then death came knocking, taking those who died in the most gruesome, bloody or downright horrific manners to their boss, Lou.

Lou: He's the one who rules over the Reapers and Seers. Basically, the God of Death.

Goddess: Lou's sister, the basic Goddess of Life, she guides the Witches and Scryers. She has no one name but is called many by her worshipers. Lou calls her sister while Pandora calls her by her true name, which only the 3 of them know.

Pandora: Goddess of Chaos and Anarchy. She corrupted some angels, creating the Fallen Angels, beginning their descent back to becoming Demons. She also creates her Children to assist Lou in keeping the populace to a manageable level.

God: Pandora's brother, totally ignores the other 3 and teaches the Priests and Pastors. He created the Angels from Demons by turning everything ugly about them into pure beauty and strength. The Angels work alongside his Priests and can only be seen by Pastors, Seers and Scryers when hiding. When Angels are not hiding among the humans, the are completely visible by any supernatural being.

Cosmos: He is unknown among the humans but the other 4 refer to him as their father, the creator or, as Lou suggested once, the blank slate.

The Reapers, Witches a Priests are pretty much the same, just with different styles. The same goes for the Seers, Scryers and Pastors. And Pandora only has her children, nothing like any of the other groups.

Anyways, the playable selection depends on whether the player wants Lou, the wise-ass God of Death, the Goddess, intelligent and merciful, or the God, who sees the beauty in order. Then again, the Witches and Scryers aren't as strong as the Reapers and Seers. Pastors and Priests are stronger than Witches and Scryers but not as strong as Reapers and Seers.

There are 3 types of Reapers, Witches and Priests.

Reapers: There is the melee class, the ranged class and the magick class known as the Sages. The melee and ranged classes of the Reapers are unnamed and only referred to as Reapers.

Witches: the Guards, Gunslingers and Mages make up their ranks.

Priests: They are composed of the Knights, Archers and the Blessed.

Sages and Mages can use 1 of 3 types of Reaper Magick. First, there are Death Sages/Mages. They use really strong spells, most of which take quite a bit of preparation. Then there are Pumpkin Sages/Mages. They use quick, not as strong spells, mostly for distracting or killing minor enemies. Then there's the Light Sages/Mages, healers and buffers, the ones who make their allies stronger. Priests have 3 similar types, Holy Force, Holy Hand and Holy Spirit respectively.

Also, Seers, Scryers and Pastors can create Barriers to protect themselves and see hidden enemies. Not only are they useful, they are necessary for any team.

Pandora's Children: Half-breeds of the Goddess of Chaos and Anarchy, most of them don't live long, usually about 17. Some with awakened powers, usually about 5 or 6 out of 100 each century, live longer but with much more stress on their body when they use their powers. Most with awakened powers die in combat or shortly thereafter. They also work alongside the Reapers but are usually kept as a last resort.

Special Items-

Pendant: The Pendant is similar to a Police Officer's badge. It allows other Reapers, Seers and Witches to see their rank, class and team. Reapers' Cloaks reside inside the Pendant. The Witches have something similar called a Pentacle while the Priests have their Crosses.

Cloak: The Cloak gives Reapers the abilities to become invisible, pass through solid objects and flight. These are not granted until Rank V. Witches have their Robes which allow them to disappear into nature. Priests have Gowns which can turn into white armor, giving them their weapons.

Vessel: Each Reaper died with something in their hands. Some of these items were hollow, able to hold other objects, etc. These became Vessels. Vessels hold souls and allow Reapers to help others to pass to Lou. Witches and Priests don't have anything similar to Vessels.

Each Reaper, Witch and Priest have an Emotional Trigger. This can trigger an increase in strength, speed, agility or any attribute and is triggered by 1 emotion. Usually, they start with 1 effect of the trigger, such as their anger increasing their strength, their sorrow increasing their speed, their joy increasing their agility, and so on.

Lou was the first Reaper, the Grim Reaper. He was doing a great job until humanity spread too wide for him to continue to work alone. Therefore, he began recruiting others to be Reapers. As the ages changed, the cycle of Reapers did as well.

Lou no longer Reaps but watches the Reapers like the owner of a company. They report to him and bring souls for other possible Reapers.

Working alongside the Reapers are Seers, people who can gaze through the veil between the world of the living and the realm of the dead, and Witches, humans who can utilize Reaper abilities with the help of Lou's sister, the Goddess. Both types were visited by Lou because they were stillbirths or infant deaths. Seers lost their physical sight and was granted life and sight into the spiritual realm instead as well as the ability to create weak barriers for short periods of time while Witches grow without a limb or some other physical deformity.

Scryers were born blind but visited by the Goddess and given sight beyond sight.

Reapers, when chosen by Lou, appear in a white room. In the room is a man in a red suit with a black tie, slicked back hair and lively blue eyes. He is Lou.

Enemies the Reaper teams will be facing will include, but is not limited to, Demons, Angels, Rogue Reapers, Corrupt Souls, Fallen Angels and half-breeds of all sorts.

This is going to be an action-adventure-drama RP that will turn out like a cross between RIPD, Dead Like Me and Bleach. I have many ideas for plot but most of the story will be made by the players. I will ONLY play Lou and big enemies.

It could be possible for them to cut off enemies' powers, but if not with any group or when cornered then they are practically useless. I feel some more offensive ability could help. Just my opinion though.

Smack people with the magical shield. Get that Leona support up in there.

Name: John Doe

Age: 21

Appearance: Edward fucking Cullen

Personality: Rebellious, and rash. Doing the minimum to stay on Lou's good side. Impulsive and indecisive.

History: Died due to some form of head trauma. Can't remember his human lifetime well, but he remembers enough to know it was short and shitty. He had total amnesia the few weeks before he died due to an infection that came with his head injury. Those few weeks were filled with physical and mental pain. Constant headaches, and not a single soul came to visit him, well...until he passed.

Class: Sage, primarily defensive spells.

Spells: Healing Hand.

Destructive Tendency: Lashes out at those around him, often for no/stupid reasons.

Emotional Trigger: Anger increases the effectiveness of spells.

Vessel: The last syringe used to numb his passing.

Well, here is my CS.
A freshly died P.E. teacher turned homeless guy, who was hit by a train. I hope the age is not a game breaker.

Name: Mr. Colins (James) aka „Balls”

Age: 42

Appearance:
He has blue, watery, bloodshot eyes; red, swollen cheeks hidden under a big bush of reddish-brown beard. His hair is of the same color, unkempt, reaching to his shoulder. His teeth are yellow, and his mouth smells of cheap alcohol. His clothes consist of a collection of ragged pieces blackened, and caked with dirty, shining oily at some places. He wears a missmatched pair of knitted, fingerless gloves, and a once-red scarf around his neck. On his feet he wears a pair of torn black hiking boots, fixed with silver colored duck-tape. A constant stench of alcohol and urine is lingering around him.

Personality:
He is grumpy, and has a tendency to yell at people. He is prone to be aggressive or violent, when he is drunk. When he is sober, what rarely happens, he tends to be depressed, often crying when he thinks about his ruined life. Mostly when sober tries to get drunk again somehow.

History:
James Colins used to be a family man. He was a P.E. teacher at the local high school, happily married, and proud father of two. Things went downhill when during a family trip they got involved into a car accident. Wife and children died on the scene, before the ambulance arrived. Mr. Colins, the driver, was pulled from the wreckage with minor injuries.
Unable to cope with the loss, Mr. Colins turned to the bottle. His drinking problem quickly got out of hand, costing him his job, and after a time his house. He spent the last three years of his life as a homeless; living on the street, trying to get his daily booze.
He died yesterday, when running away with a bottle of stolen whiskey. While being chased by a cop, he jumped on the tracks of the subway to escape, not noticing the incoming train.

Class: Reaper (melee)

Weapon: A dirty, old Swiss knife what can be opened into a full-size scythe

Destructive Tendency(ies): Booze, booze... and did I mention booze?

Emotional Trigger: Anger, when Angry he gets faster. (Come here, you little bugger you!)

Vessel: The bottle of whiskey of course.

First: John needs a last name.

Second: If someone wants to play a priest like that, you have to make a damn good CS, which shouldn't be hard for anyone here.

Third: AJ, you need to add the fact he's a Melee fighter to his Class.

Fourth: I will play Lou and almost every other important NPC and big enemies.

Fifth: Both CSs up already are comedic, detailed and very good. Love the creativity and hope I see more with incoming CSs.

Re: Crossing the Veil (OOC)

Postby QuickSilver » Fri Nov 15, 2013 2:14 pm

Name: Eleanor Wickham (aka. Aunty Nora)

Age: 24

Appearance: Eleanor is small of stature and slender of build with an elegant feminine figure that tends towards muted curves and a small chest. Her facial features are gentle, youthful and set upon a backdrop of pale skin, framed by the neatly styled silky, ink-black hair that cascades down to her shoulders. Her eyes are coloured chestnut brown and gleam with a friendly reprieve that often seems so out of place with her stern expressions and commanding demeanour. She was born without her left arm, but this deformity is rarely on display.

Though she rarely wears the same clothes more than a day in a row, she tends towards blacks, greys and whites and other muted colours with formal design. One consistency in her attire is she tends to wear long, bellowing sleeves when she can to at least partially conceal her missing arm.

Too long, didn't read appearance.

Personality: Generally cheerful, firmly grounded and often collected, Eleanor carries a mature countenance wherever she goes. She is quick to smile and enjoys company, though she tends to not open herself up enough to make many good friends, having hundreds of acquaintances instead. She can however be exceptionally stern, and a firm frown is usually more than enough to daunt most people, be they child or adult; a skill learned from her years as a teacher.

She carries an almost irrational dislike of reapers and supernatural beings, stemming from her love of humanity and her desire to protect her students which often become their target due to the dangers of city life. She hates cars and walks everywhere. She has a fondness for fried foods and cats, and owns a black moggie named Redbit.

History: Though she was pronounced dead at birth she miraculously sprung to life the day before her parents were to leave. Though born with a deformity, she never let it dictate who she was. Nurturing and scholarly parents fostered a deep love of humanity and learning that fostered a bright spark of intelligence and creativity that saw her rising swiftly through education and graduating at an almost record age. She has been teaching younger children since she was nineteen and enjoys her job.

Of course, she leaves out the part that she is a witch, deeply entwined with the supernatural world and possessed of spiritual powers from general conversation. She was mentored as a witch by her grandmother, Agnes Wickham, who taught her how to control her spiritual power and to be ruthless with hostile supernatural beings. Whilst still a beginner, she has gained enough of a reputation to ward minor nasties away from the school she teaches at.

Class: Witch (Guardian)

Weapon: An elegant basket hilted Spada da lato named Elysium. When lost in despair the sword's design becomes far less graceful with the ornate hilt becoming thorny, gnarled and twisted and the glittering silver of the blade becoming pitch black. In this form the weapon's name changes to Castanica. When not in use, it remains a fully functional Parker Sonnet fountain pen, usually stored within an ornate black, gold-trimmed case and squirreled away inside a pocket.

Emotional Trigger: Despair dramatically increases the destructive power of her sword.

Well, first of all, I do have to say the witches are like Reapers, just more skilled and weaker. The Gunslingers are witches who use any ranged weaponry.

Eleanor is good. I'd say accepted but, in the end, it's Kaze's choice.
