Sharline – StrongerEckhart afforded Caldwell a polite smile, “But of course, Doctor.” He turned toward Sharline, who nodded her head. “Dustin said the SIRENs were all prepped,” she hooked a lock of hair behind her ear. “Let's suit up first, 'kay.”
The SIREN storage facility was a stone's throw away from the north entrance to the training grounds. The CEO and analyst suited up quietly, without much conversation on either side. With her body secured in the opalescent armor, Sharline placed her head inside the helmet. She felt the familiar sensation of electrodes connecting to her temples and down her spine. Suddenly, it seemed as if the world outside was moving in slow motion – or she incredibly fast. The young woman performed some routine warm-up practices to test basic functioning; flexing the hands, twisting at the waist, and a light jog around the room – all in two blinks of an eye. Eckhart, encased in his own towering suit, leaned back against the giant metal locker where the Alexander had lain dormant. “It's amazing to me,” the man began. “How much faster Scouts are compared to the others.”
Sharline scoffed. “Pfft. They sacrifice a lot though, to make up for that speed,” the woman skidded to an easy halt, raising her arms above her head in another stretch. “Weaker, less hardy. For example, in terms of strength–”
Sharline's arms were suddenly pinned against the wall. She tilted her neck back, looking all the way up the offending black giant. “In terms of strength,” Eckhart grinned down through his dark visor. “An Assault enhances its pilot's by two hundred percent, while a Scout's is only a hundred,” the man was impish as he recounted statistics. Sharline struggled to free her wrists, but there was no competition.
...Shit. She tried a second time, but her arms didn't budge under the Assault's brute strength. “Okay, Grant, point taken,” the smaller figure looked down, her face abashed. She felt him release her wrists. “You do know,” Sharline began, glancing up as the man headed for the door. “That I would be stronger than you in a Heavy, right?”
The CEO laughed. “Sharline, a little kid would be stronger than me in a Heavy.”

The Heroes – SuperhumanTheme: “Flagpole Sitta” by Harvey DangerFar across the room from the recruits, the glass doors to the north entrance slid open automatically. A massive black figure crossed over the threshold; the being was reminiscent of an android from a sci-fi movie. Beside it emerged another figure, this one pearl-colored and significantly smaller. The second android's shape – distinctly female in its dimensions – was a subtle cue to the pilot's sex.
The person in the smaller suit waved her arm high, signaling the beginning of the demonstration. Without any delay, the black giant tore off in a sprint across the field. The android dropped into a slide, activating the thrusters on its back. The being shot off like a rocket, reaching top speed in the span of several seconds and barreling toward the recruits.
The white android, who had been watching the first, took off as well. She performed a similar sliding maneuver as she darted toward the onlookers, accelerating to top speed in the fraction of a second. The white SIREN bypassed the black one almost instantaneously, before both shot past either edge of the group. A few seconds later the pair had reached the opposite side of the stadium.
Although they were hard to discern from where the recruits stood, the duo seemed to stand idly for a moment. The white android was looking up at the black one, some exchange taking place. The white SIREN arched over – as if laughing – before she playfully pushed the larger one in the stomach. Some recruits may have found the sight surreal, the two robotic beings behaving in such a distinctly human way.
After another pause, the pair turned to their frail onlookers in the center of the stadium. The black android picked up the female, effortlessly lifting her atop his shoulders before breaking into another rocketing sprint. The behemoth catapulted her up; she soared through the air, so high that one had to crank their neck back to bear witness. The figure danced through space in a series of superhuman acrobatics, her twists and spins as graceful as a pirouetting ballet dancer.
The white SIREN landed adeptly, several yards from the others; the force of her impact was strong enough to shake the lighter recruits. She turned back toward the black android, who was slightly slower. The onyx figure pressed his hands into the ground mid-dash, hurling himself up in an impressive – but significantly less delicate – double somersault. His feet landed with a slam, the ground rocking violently around him. The force was easily enough to shake everyone except his white-suited partner. The large SIREN removed his helmet, revealing the tousled hair and brilliant beam of Grant Eckhart.
“Ah ha ha!” the man's hearty laugh echoed around the stadium. The white android removed hers too; Sharline McGovern's expression was effervescent, her eyes bright and vibrant. “Oh god...” she giggled. “It's been so long...I forgot how much fun these things are.” Eckhart faced the group, tilting his head downward. "As you can see, this is the power of the SIREN – the Synapse Integrated Reflex Enhancing Neurosuit."
“Mr. Eckhart's model, the Alexander, is an Assault type. You all probably saw how powerful it is,” the woman's choice of words seemed to carry a subtle nuance. “My model, the Sepia, is a Scout. It's not as strong, but it's pretty fast.” Sharline looked toward Isaiah, her smile mischievous. “Well? What do you think, Commander.”
