Normal Appearance: Derek as Jocund dyed his hair purple and even changed his hair style as it is now short in the front with a pony tail in the back. On top of Jocund’s head is a black top hat that has a red ribbon wrapped around it. Covering his left eye is an eye-patch that is really a cleverly disguised monocle. For normal clothing, Jocund wears a green tie-shirt and brown baggy pants with white running sneakers that have baby blue stripes on the side. Also Jocund wears a black jacket. Despite being 50 years old, Derek still looks like he's in his twenties, the cost of being nearly un killable.
Personality: Cheerful, demented, Arrogant, and determined. He’s always looking for a challenge and is always looking out for worthy targets to go up against. Apparently he always gives a heads up to his targets and times them the time and day of when he’s going to toy with them. <Working on>
Character History:
A scientist through and through, Derek’s eyes has always been on robotics. From five to eighteen, he dreams of electric sheep and breathes robots. He can’t stop nor could he and when he went to college he met a rival named Vickie Wong, a child genius that sparked his inner flame and raised his desire to build robots to god like lengths. With a rival it pushed Derek to greater limits as he had to take out all the stops with this Vickie. It was here that Derek’s competitive nature grew.
A few months after their first meeting, the two competitive mechanical geniuses eventually formed a doomed partnership. The project was supposed to be for the benefit of mankind using Nano-Bots however as time past different ideas and opinions took root slowly dividing the two until their competitive nature struck the final blow. In was here at this moment of separation that led Derek closer to his twisted destiny of darkness.
Working for Yanda Corp, Derek had funding and the freedom to purse his idea. Which his crazy idea was to use the Nano-Bots to convert organic matter to machinery as he imagined he could create trees that could in theory absorb more carbon from the air and produce fresher air or enhance other organic matter if they do more testing. It didn’t take long for Derek to bear fruit with his idea, nor did it take long for the green eyes of jealous to leer upon him and those peepers belong to the one funding his experiments and fellow scientist Ray Barth.
Consumed by jealously by this young man, Ray Barth finally came to a decision, it was time to get rid of the gold laying goose and take that idea for his own benefit. The supposed accident was simple the capsule containing the organic matter converting Nano-Bot has never been tested on humans so a simple push in the capsule and locking it would suffice. This horrific plan started on a gloomy Monday as a storm was blowing in. Derek at the time was recalibrating the inside of the capsule so Ray smiled as the difficult part of this murder was achieved.
The capsule closes sealing Derek within. He looks outside the glass to his murderer and pleads for him to let him out. A wider grin stretched on Ray’s face as he denied Derek’s request and activated his machine. First the machine scanned Derek and then it took him completely apart however before Ray had a chance to shut off the transformation in mid-process lightning struck the transformer overloading Derek’s causing it to explode. Ray of course, survived and was merely sent flying backwards into a nearby wall. With the deed done, Ray left Yanda Corp.
Or supposedly the deed was done as Derek’s machine started up again. The explosion created a new being, a man that wasn’t entirely organic nor completely machine. A balanced of two resulted in what would some call Derek’s rebirth. As soon as his capsule opened, Derek went to the nearest mirror in the room to see what his murderer on had done to him. The only change visible he noticed about his body was a red jewel that was centered on his forehead. A sickening grin formed on his face while his maniacal laughter echoed throughout the building. Even he discovered his unusual link to devices as he controlled a nearby television. He left the building and took his capsule with him using a forklift as his escape vehicle.
December, 10, 2016, four months later, after the the attempt on his life, Derek returns to the world as the villain calling himself Countdown. He can back for revenge and used robotic drones to do his bidding as he caused chaos in his wake. Yanda Corp. was demolished by his orders and Ray and Countdown did battle. In the end, Countdown defeated his so-called murderer. However, before Countdown could deal the final blow, an old friend of his showed up. Vickie fought with Derek to stop his spiral into greater darkness and in a way she succeeds but not the way she intended as she accidentally killed her rival.
Or so she believed, as apparently the capsule he repaired gained an interesting ability. Sure it lost the ability to convert organic matter into machinery, but what it gained was much more impressive. It has the ability to make a duplicate of Derek whenever Derek dies. However it isn’t simply a cloning machine, as the duplicate it creates is actually the original thanks to the unusual link he has with devices. It took four years of combating other super heroes for Derek to really get the message.
On October 2026, An alien race by the name of Zeiger invaded the planet earth, causing mass mayhem and destruction. The world cried out for heroes and a team had banded together to deal with the alien threat. This team, the Dreadnoughts, composed of several well known heroes, and led by the mysterious leader, Second Life, took to the skies and demolished the Zeiger Empire, ending the full out War for the planet Earth.
19 years later, Jocund T. Snow aka Second Life finally has retired from life of being a hero. Currently, Jocund has accepted a teaching job at an academy that teaches younger heroes to master their powers and to show them the right path they need to take to become true heroes. Unfortunately, the teaching positions were filled, but before expressing out rage, Jocund was informed that he was truly hired to be the new headmaster of the academy. Doing so, Jocund as Second Life gained enemies, especially around certain gangs like The Junkies (Status: Derek is a Rival), Necromongers( Status: Derek is a morbid curiosity to her), and Petalled Pestilance (Status: Derek is completely an Annoyance to her).

Villain Alias: Countdown

*Villain Costume: Derek dons a black helmet that has a huge eye piece, its color is a dark crimson. Clothing wise Countdown wears a black turtle neck sweater with black dress pant that has a black belt that has a golden belt buckle. His black shoes are a pair of solid black running sneakers and on his hands metallic gloves. The metallic gloves are a shade of black, with spikes on the knuckles. He wears a cape, which he usuals to conceal his body and as he wears this cape, he had spikes on the shoulders.
*Hero Costume: Derek as Jocund dons a white helmet that has a black star around its left eye. The shade of visors in that helmet is baby blue and this helmet like his other covers his entire face. On top of the helmet is a black top hat and around the top hat is a red ribbon. For clothing, Second Life wears a solid white suit with a white dress shirt, but with a black vest. He has on white running sneaker and wears ivory gauntlets. The gauntlets, have gold rings on the fingers, with onyx black gems on the knuckles. With him at all times is a cane and a hidden gun within the jacket. On the belt of this suit is various colored gas pellets.
*The clothing down to the shoes is made out of a special fabric that can change from black to white by turning a switch on his belt. The helmet, transforms into different styles.
Abilities:
-Binary Link-
Thanks to the accident, Derek has a psychic link with electronics. With this handy ability, he’s basically a human remote control granting him the power to control, understand, manipulate devices to do his bidding. This includes hacking into computers, robots, and etc, and rewriting programs with but a thought.
-Jewel-
The jewel on his forehead stores and records Derek’s memories. It also transfers his memories to the Master Capsule so that when Derek dies he may be able to live again using a new body created by the Master Capsule. The jewel also allows Derek to manipulate his own bodily functions. He has boasted that he could change the frequency of his brain signals much like a radio can with its own frequencies.
-Master Capsule-
It’s the very capsule that altered Derek into the being that he is now. It has the ability to create duplicates of Derek whenever he is killed in action or dies for some reason. Of course, it only creates one Derek and only one so as long as the signal the Jewel on Derek’s forehand is still signaling then it won’t create another one.
-Gas Pellet Cane/Sonic Ray-
" Come now, you give yourself too much credit."
As mentioned before, Derek wears a belt that has various colored pellets. Each pellet is a particular gas to something noxious or corrosive. The cane is a cleverly disguised launcher for these pellets and is loaded with ten pellets. A switch here and a squeeze handle, causes the cane to fire a pellet. The sonic ray cause a nasty sonic pulse that disrupts electronics for a moment and hurts the ears of people and creatures with a slight adjustment.
-Overlord Gauntlets and their Archons-
" Feel my wraith or Kneel...Smart Choice."
One of Derek's most powerful devices. So powerful, it has it very own power source refereed as Prometheus Cells. Course, you'll need a powerful source of energy to manipulate one of the four fundamental interactions of nature, Gravitation. To simply pull and push, an open palm is required. For more complex features as in alternating gravity of objects and tossing them like rag dolls, the Archons are needed. The Archons are thirty-five in their numbers, and are tiny automatic flying drones. They seemed to be shaped like discs and fly much like them.
-Master Exo-Armor-
"Dominate!"
A fly drone that Derek summons by screaming the word "Dominate!". As it approaches its master, it transforms into a suit and merges with Derek. Only used for the hardcore cases such as the big league villains. Increases strength a 1000 fold to handle and features Aerokinesis, the manipulation of air currents. It creates a whirlwind of air pressure from the entire body, especially the arms and legs area. Imagine a force of air, that levels buildings or a strong tornado shield that knocks away powerful foes or clears away deadly gas.
