I was pleasantly surprised to receive four votes in fairly short order, so hopefully this will be somewhat popular.

The Soul Eaters:

Our world is not, and has never been, a pleasant place to live. It is at least honest about this. The world has never tried to pretend it is your friend, has never put on the false face of a con-man to exploit your hope for a better tomorow. The world already has everything it wants out of you, and so it does not hide the ugly truth: That you are chattel.

Even the "Good Guys", the solemn reapers who defend you from the monsters that would rip you asunder to gain that which is most precious to you, do it for their own reasons. After all, within a healthy body dwells a healthy mind, and a healthy Soul...

Even this harrowing existence is considered a boon, a welcome reprieve from the horrors that the vast majority of humanity across time have had to face. Only one hundred years ago did the Demon-God, the Kishin Asura, have his reign of terror, only to be replaced by what many fear is a more terrible monster even than He.

It was into Shinigami's gentle Hegemony that you were born. It was his broad hands that cradled your weak, vulnerable soul through it's childhood, his sentinels who defended your family from the evil, perverted terrors who stalk the back streets of every city, lurk in every shadow and hidden place of the world. Everything, from the clothes on your back to the food that fills your belly, belongs to him. His face stares, almost comfortingly, from every shoe, every manhole cover and streetlamp, and every day, humanity has to live with the fact that this is simply not their world. It's his.

Some can't handle it. The endless supply of dissidents, anarchists, witches, and just plain criminals, ensure he and his soldiers will always have someone to fight, someone for the cringing masses to fear. They cannot be excused, they cannot be rehabilitated, and they cannot be ignored. For every human so weak as to fall away from Shinigami's protection has the potential to grow into another terror, another Demon-god to stalk the earth. For the only way to live without that skeletal guardian is to gain power of your own, and in this insane world, the only power is Madness.

You are not like these pitiable wretches though. You were strong, strong enough not only to protect yourself, but to defend those around you. Whether by the strength of your soul, or by the unusual shape which allows your body to change it's shape, to become a weapon with which to defend humanity. It is from your ranks that Shinigami draws his soldiers, the Meisters and Weapons who defend humanity from those creeping horrors that lurk in the night.

You were raised in what was perhaps a normal family. You went to school, did homework, ate lunches, chatted with friends. Maybe you were happy, maybe you were miserable. That matters little now. For your life is Shibusen.

Tucked away in it's own desert metropolis, Death City Nevada, the exclusive academy, seat of Shinigami's power, trains and houses the next generation of humanity's defenders. Here they complete their academic training, not only in the maths, sciences, histories and literatures of their "Peers" back in normality, but in the ways of the Soul, and, of course, in personal combat.

It's not a bad life. You have a good education, leisure time, and plentiful friends. One among these will always be a cut above the rest of those in your life. They're your partner, someone with whom you share not only your secrets, but with whom you have literally rubbed-souls. They are your Weapon, or your Wielder. You have charged into battle with unspeakable horrors at their side, and you know them better than the back of your own hand. They're the one thing you can always rely on in this unstable, frightening world we live in.


Character Creation:

This is where things get interesting. You aren't just one person living in this world, you are one half of a team, and to participate, you MUST have a partner. You have three options for this.

The first, and probably least interesting, is to simply play two characters. You'd write up two character sheets, fit for one another, and that would be that.

The second is that you could write up one character sheet and make an agreement with another person to play their partner. You'd share a soul count for this.

The third option is the most difficult, but potentially the most rewarding, in which you'd write up two character sheets which are NOT compatible, and have two different partners. Recommended only for experienced players.


Soul Count: This bit is important. Every Meister and Weapon team work toward the eventual goal of the creation of a Death's Scythe. These are Weapons a world apart from the rank and file, each having consumed 99 tainted human souls, their power catalyzed by the soul of a witch to boost that weapon's strength enormously, granting it new powers and abilities beyond it's wildest dreams. For much of the roleplay, this will be your goal. However, you need not start at the very beginning. Every character begins the game with fifty souls... however, you take a huge risk in doing so, as you'll be woefully unequipped to fight against the criminals, fetal-Kishin, and witches you will encounter in the course of the story, because it is with these souls that you "Buy" your initial abilities, boons, and powers. To become more powerful than you are initially, you must either achieve Death's Scythe status, or accrue Madness.

Sample abilities are as follows:

Soul Martial Arts (Meister Only): You have mastered the art of using your own soul as a combat weapon, by forcing your soul's wavelength onto your target, you disrupt their own. With this, you can actually fight without your Weapon and hope to do damage to the myriad monsters you will fight on your journey.

Cost: 10 souls.

Weapon Martial Arts (Weapon only): With this, it's possible for a weapon to fight on it's own, albeit not as effectively as if wielded by a competent Meister. Via partial transformation of your body, you can menace with deadly spines, blades, or even guns.

Cost: 10 souls

Soul Detection: The ability to sense the souls of others in some way, usually via vision. Both Meisters and Weapons are able to detect souls, although the ability is more common in the former. This ability can reveal an enemy's location, relative strength, and a certain impression of their personality.

Cost: 20 souls

Level Headed: For whatever reason, you just have a very stable, grounded personality. It's hard to rattle you, and you don't get upset easily. You also accrue madness more slowly than others. This is a double edged sword, since you won't get strong as fast as other characters, but you also won't go insane quite as easily. Do try to roleplay this kind of personality if you take this perk. ;)

Cost: 5 souls.

Elemental Affinity (Weapons only): You've always had a personality people could describe in terms of one particular humour. You are a "Fiery Redhead", a "Melancholy Sort", or some other suitable descriptor. Being a weapon, who's soul is reflected in it's transformed shape, this carries across into your combat abilities as well.

Cost: 5 Souls


Dual Wielding: Weapons who are not only compatible with a meister, but with one another, are rare finds, and are almost always twins, or at least siblings. Finding a meister who can handle two weapons at once, and doesn't mind splitting their collected souls between them, is even rarer. To use this ability, both weapons, and their meister, must take the ability.

Cost: 30 souls each.

Flexible Form (Weapons only): Certain clans of Weapons occasionally produce members who have not one, but multiple weapon-forms that can be shifted between to suit any battle condition. Such weapons are very rare, and coveted by Meisters.

Cost: 40 souls.

Variable Soul: Through rigorous study and practice, or just raw talent, you've gained an innate understanding of your own soul's functions and wavelength, and can change it at will. With this, compatibility between Weapon and Meister becomes a non-issue. You can wield any weapon, or be wielded by anyone with the will to take hold of you.

Cost: 40 souls.

Shinigami (Meisters Only): You are not human, but of the same race as Shinigami himself. You possess myriad abilities no human ever can, as well as superior strength, speed, and reflexes. It does come with drawbacks however. You are automatically a newcomer to Shibusen, and begin with no souls of your own. You are also afflicted with a second-order Insanity, from the very beginning. This ability comes with the ability to see souls. Only one allowed, must be GM approved.

Cost: 50 souls. 25 madness.


These are, of course, not the only abilities you can choose from. You may also create your own, custom abilities and submit them to me via pm. I will determine their allowability and cost.


Madness:

The world itself runs on Madness. It is the one source of inhuman power available to anyone who wishes to take it. Madness is tempting. Madness is seductive. It tugs at the heart of every living creature, offering sweet sensations, ultimate power, security and protection. Those who succumb to it's siren call are on their way to becoming Demon Gods, and are hunted by the Shibusen. Those who are strong enough to master it find themselves in command of the one thing that may give them an edge over those monsters, and just maybe, make a difference in this mad world of ours.

You accrue Madness in the course of the RP, by making certain decisions, by becoming stronger, and just in the normal course of living in such an insane world. After a certain point, it begins to effect your psyche, and may eventually drive you insane. Insanity is relative in a world where the very sun laughs at your plight, and has many different levels of severity, as indicated below.

First Order: You're a little "Off". You may have a mild personality disorder, or simply be withdrawn or asocial. Includes things like minor compulsions or nonintrusive tics. Can be removed with sufficient therapy or rest.

10 madness.

Second Order: You have an unavoidable flaw or defect in your psyche that cannot easily be removed except by a professional with plenty of time and dedication. You may simply not be human, and thus not conform to human standards of sanity. Witches and Shinigami naturally exist at this level.

25 madness.

Third Order: You're best described by the term "High Functioning.". You're able to function in an orderly society, but only just. You may have some irresistable, intrusive compulsion or violent tendencies. You may hear voices or see things that aren't there. You may simply be "Damaged Goods." that will never be quite the same as everyone else.

50 madness.

Fourth Order: You're unable to function as a member of a stable society. You're distinctly unhinged, and it's obvious to anyone you meet. If Shibusen knows you've hit this stage, they probably won't let you go on field missions until you're stable again. You hear the siren call of the Kishin...

100 madness.

Fifth Order: You are irredeemably, incurably mad. And you just might enjoy it. You're afflicted with an insanity so deep you can't even remember a time when you weren't this crazy. Anyone who goes this far is a target of Shibusen, for at this level of madness, the Demon God is never far away. At this level, you are considered a rogue, and can't ever return to Shibusen.

200 madness.

After character creation, any remaining souls are pooled between Meister and Weapon. If a meister dual-wields, that number is divided between the weapons.


Notes:

Keep in mind that the series this is based on is known for an almost unique combat style. There's very little in the way of "Power Levels" except at the very highest echelons, and most battles are decided by way of the various unique powers and skills available to the characters. It's also both fast and well-choreographed, so the typical roleplay combat style is suspended for this in favor of something a little more freeform. Characters can take several actions in one sequence (Post) against any character, and against all but the PC's themselves, they may decide what the outcome is.

Keep in mind though, the DM can do that too.

At six and a half feet tall, she'd never qualify as "Inconspicuous" even if she weren't dressed in a hilarious samurai outfit and MC Hammer parachute pants, but perhaps that's the whole point. Tanned almost to the point of blackening, she wears bright colors to throw herself into even greater contrast, and pulls her ebony-black hair back into a ponytail that could almost be described as an explosion for it's volume and violence.

She tends to keep her arms bare, revealing a refined, though not grotesque musculature, her left shoulder emblazoned with a winking, heart shaped skull, a ribbon tied around it reading "God is With Us" in Portuguese.

Her face is pretty, though it'd be beautiful if she gave any thought to her appearance besides "Obvious", her eyes somewhat narrow, the same dark brown as her skin, her lips full and prone to satisfied smirks.

Personality: An energetic and proactive woman, she's known to run ragged students and her fellow instructors alike. Even when she stands still she seems to be in motion, whether from jogging in place or just vibrating with energy. While she tends to like almost all her students, there are a few that she latches onto almost as a surrogate parent. These tend to be the more "Troubled" kids, those with difficult upbringings or missing or absentee parents. Of course, her attention usually just ends up even more demanding, so not everyone appreciates it.

History: Renowned as one of Shibusen's greatest Meisters of all time, she'd produced a Death's Scythe by the age of 15, and gone on to be an instructor for Shibusen's future generations. Primarily an athletics and martial arts teacher, she also teaches the younger students in the soul sciences, and it's from her that most of Shibusen's students know what they do about their own souls and those of others.


Note: As a DMPC, she won't be with the players for the most part, instead remaining at Shibusen as an instructor and the primary wielder of the Death's Scythes. She should only get involved if things really go pear-shaped.

Gun Fu / Gun-kata
A style of sophisticated close-quarters gunplay often resembling a martial arts battle played out with firearms instead of traditional weapons. Usage of firearms in ways that they were not designed to be used. Shooting a gun from each hand, shots from behind the back, as well as the use of guns as melee weapons are all common. Other moves can involve shotguns, Uzis, rocket launchers, and just about anything else that fires a projectile.

Parkour
The physical discipline of training to overcome any obstacle within one's path by adapting one's movements to the environment. It is a non-competitive, physical discipline of French origin in which participants run along a route, attempting to negotiate obstacles in the most efficient way possible. Skills such as jumping and climbing, or the more specific parkour moves are employed. The obstacles can be anything in one's environment, but parkour is often seen practiced in urban areas because of the many suitable public structures available such as buildings and rails.

Preferred Weapons: Guns, preferably pistols, machine pistols, submachine guns and any of the smaller variety. Although, that doesn't mean he can't improvise with other firearms or projectile weaponry. As for other means of weapons, he also seems to be able to handle the simple use of a knife along with Chloe.

Physical Appearance: He stands at 6ft with a slender build in a laid-back manner, has messy jet black hair and his large eyes are of a cool blue color all set upon a perfectly shaped face, handsome to most people.

For most of the time, Daniel prefers to go with comfortable clothing which doesn't stand out too much in a crowd but still capable of making a good first impression of himself. He often wears a dark purple collar shirt, accompanied by a grey tie with a pair of black pants and suspenders.

On certain occasions such as outings, he wears a black sleek coat with white square buttons on the outside. If its cold weather, a white colored version of his coat is seen on him instead along with a pair of black gloves. His pair of special custom inline skates are always seen on him, capable of retracting its own wheels. From the outside, they resemble the design of a pair of boots with large white rectangular straps.

As for carrying his stuff around, Daniel uses a rather odd container for storing his possessions, a guitar case. The guitar case is fully black with aluminum locks, latches, handle and body which is covered by a layer of high-quality leather. A password is needed to open the locks. On the inside, the interior is lined with red plush and foam underneath to protect whatever is put inside. Unlike most guitar cases, the interior is nor designed to hold a guitar with a specific mold but is completely full of space and even has compartments which open up like small drawers. Inside are some surprising items like airsoft guns and projectile weapons along with the usual books, food, water and other things you would expect from a teenager.

This ability gives you an edge in battles by letting you sense a soul from a close distance, to read their attacks and even heighten your human senses such as sight and hearing. Note: Unlike Soul Detection, this is purely for close quarters.

Dressed like a true artist who isn't afraid to show, inspire and get creative. Chloe wears a green leather newboy cap which covers most of her purple pixie cut hair and a pair of frameless glasses rimless glasses for her long-sighted eyes which are of a turquoise color. Two badges can be seen on her cap, one of a peace symbol and another of a black clubs symbol.

As for clothing, she often wears a purple short-sleeved collar shirt along with a pair of brown khaki pants. She constantly has a green scarf around her neck and two silver bangles on her wrists which have beautiful patterns on them, probably of Indian design.

Her shoes are a pair of purple sneakers, perfect for Parkour. Despite being older than Daniel, Chloe stands at a much shorter height of only 5ft 7 which apparently makes Chloe seem younger.

Weapon Shape:
Desert Eagle
A large-framed gas-operated semi-automatic pistol designed by Magnum Research in the U.S., and manufactured primarily in Israel by IMI (Israel Military Industries, now Israel Weapon Industries). Unlike the normal variants, Chloe transforms into a stainless and pearl white Desert Eagle with a noticeably longer barrel and larger chamber when compared with other Desert Eagles. There is also a metal bangle attached to the grip with a red leather strip connected to another metal bangle around Daniel's wrist, preventing Chloe from dropping or kicked away from Daniel. The words "Springfield" can be seen printed onto the top of the barrel.

FN P90
A selective fire personal defense weapon (PDW) designed and manufactured by FN Herstal in Belgium. Like all of Chloe's other weapon forms, it is of stainless and pearl white in color with the bangles and straps attached to a small hole at the stock.

Mk14 Mod 0 Enhanced Battle Rifle - Link
One of Chloe's strongest forms, this M14 EBR is a weapon form to be feared of. With its rate of fire, piercing ability, strength and accuracy, monsters are sent running when bullets hail down on their heads. Unfortunately, the downside of the weapon is that it is a snipe rifle and it needs, like all other sniper rifles, a good vantage point for attacking and is bad for close quarters.

RPG-7 - Link
Chloe's strongest form, the rocket launcher fires a soul beam at the enemy when used. Although it takes a long time to recharge, is heavy and hard to aim with, it's power and explosion makes up for it. It is also noted that a large block of steel is attached to the back, acting as a large convenient hammer against anything that gets too close. The RPG-7 is like any of the other weapon forms, stainless and in a pearl white color along with a large bangle at the back of the launcher with the usual red strap and another bangle on Daniel.

Soulz In Mah Sightz (10 souls)
An ability normally used with weapons that require accuracy for critical attacks. This ability lets you 'lock on' to a soul, preventing a target that gets to far to be lost track of and also let the meister instantly know the location of an enemy.

Ok, I've watched the first five or so episodes and while it isn't exactly my cup of tea as an anime (The Grim Reaper made me die on the inside the first time he appeared,it's still a pretty good show though), I am absolutely intrigued by the Meister-weapon dynamic and would like to try this RP out. Plan on being a weapon btw.

Ahaha, Shinigami is a little hard to get used to.

You should know, he chose his current appearance after he started Shibusen, because his old one, a more conventional deathly spectre, was too frightening for the children. He can still look pretty scary when he gets serious.

Remember, you have the option to play both a Meister and Weapon, so if you feel like you want to explore the relationship from both angles, I encourage you to give it a try.

Looks fairly solid. I assume Chloe will be a gun of some kind, so that should be interesting.

Redsnow: That, and, frankly, if Karo doesn't like you that much, your character is probably going to die soon after his acceptance anyway.

Name: Al'Badr

Age: 17

Sex: Male

Fighting Style: While completely unable to fight without the aid of a meister, Al'Badr can significantly enhance the combative skills of anyone able to utilise his unqiue style. While the extravagant feints and twirls in his style seem to serve little purpose, it allows for quick, and surprisingly powerful attacks meant to slip through an opponents guard and even damage an opponent's hands with the sheer force of the blow. Al'Badr is an offensive weapon, and it is difficult to block with him. While deflecting other weapons is possible, anything heavier than a rapier would probably penetrate his sub par defences. Due to the shape of the blade itself, and the speed at which it can be swung, it is ironically quite adept at deflecting shots from guns that shoot wavelength or non explosive projectiles.

Personality: Al'Badr believes himself to be royalty, and believes he deserves to be treated as such; though his claims to actual royalty are more than likely false, disagreeing with him either causes a fit of anger or snooty silence. Despite this flaw, he is quite intelligent and can hold a 'normal' conversation quite easily. He cannot stand anyone else claiming to be of 'higher class' than him unless they obviously outmatch him (as in the case of a Shinigami), though he will still quietly grumble about it. He has a sharp wit, and is quick to point out the flaws in others though he will thoughtfully consider other's opinions of himself, carefully calculating whether it was advice or an insult. He is extravagant in his speech and gestures and courteous to women, though his manners extend only so far as he believes everyone else believes he's of a higher class than them (which is thankfully easily achieved through self delusion). Though it is hard for him to treat others as equals, or heaven forbid, superiors, he is capable of it and he will treat friends with respect. All this, coupled with his usual show of manners may make him appear more serious than his peers, but he is quite warm to those who have earned his trust.

Physical Appearance: He is dressed in full, expensive robes of black silk, with pronounced, decorated sleeves held down at the wrists by heavy black, leather gloves; the tight silk clinging to his chest revealing an array of powerful, athletically toned muscles. About his waist a long sanguine sash rests, and below he wears a sanguine silk salwar and a set of smooth, black slippers that curl at the toe. His facial features are mostly obscured by a sanguine scarf that is wrapped about his face just below the nose, with its tails resting down his back. His eyes are a bright blue in colour and his hair a slick black, with the latter tied up in a tight knot due to its excessive length. All in all, he bares the look of someone trying too hard.

Even if forced into a school uniform he will refuse to remove his scarf, making him look quite hilarious.

Weapon Shape: Keeping with the extravagant look of his human form, Al'Badr's weapon form appears more mercurial than combative. His blade is long, deceptively sharp and curved near the tip where two points rest. Along the silver of his blade a black, abstract persian dragon is painted, while upon the red of his hilt decorative silver spheres rest. The hilt is red, with a black spiral leading down to the final, largest silver sphere at the bottom. The blade itself looks quite flimsy with its incredibley thin width, but the sheer 'sharpness' of its cut seems to extend a few milimetres beyond the blade's edge.

Thunderous Assault [15]
The more the weapon is used the more damage it can deal and the less damage it can block.

Each blow made with this weapon hones its edge, causing the following strike to deal more damage. The blade continues to become sharper as it strikes an enemy or is blocked, and becomes considerably harder to stop. The blade eventually becomes sharp enough that blocking it damages the opponent's weapon or armour, and if enough blows are made, becomes sharp enough to cut through most defences. However, focussing all out on honing the blade's edge leaves the rest of the weapon weaker than usual, making it able to block less and less damage as it becomes sharper. The weapon will, if a fight persists, become sharp enough that blocking an attack with the edge of the blade will damage the opponent. The increased strength of the blade is not always immediately obvious, but it will become noticeably easier for its wielder to swing it as it slices through wind resistance. The noise it makes when flying through the air will also become shriller, the noise vanishing all together when it reaches the peak of its offensive power.

Lightning Agility [10]
The weapon's arrogance is evident in its ability; it thinks it knows better than its wielder. It can infuse its Meister's nervous system with brief electrical bursts, forcing them to twitch or convulse in such a way that it forces the Meister to evade an attack they normally wouldn't be able to. This is, however, incredibly annoying and uncomfortable, especially when done without warning.

The weapon uses its elemental affinity with electrical energy to bind its wavelength with its Meister's nervous system. When the weapon chooses, it can unleash a minor electrical jolt into it's wielder's nerves, forcing parts of their body to jerk or twitch in a certain way chosen by the weapon. This allows the weapon to hasten an existing evasion attempt to increase its Meister's speed and allow them to evade an attack normally too swift for them; or to initiate an evasion attempt to force its wielder to evade an attack they may not have seen. The weapon doesn't gain any extra awareness, however, and without the ability to sense souls it can only force its Meister to evade attacks it can see itself. This is especially useful when fighting multiple opponents as it the weapon can work with its Meister to pull of a 'double dodge'. However, this is quite literally the weapon electrocuting its wielder, and it feels just like that. It is more annoying than painful and, if the Meister has a strategy they are not communicating to the weapon, this forced movement can wreck their plans.

Elemental Affinity [5]
The weapon's personality is stormy; arrogant, aloof and prone to mood swings. However it has a strong heart and will relentlessly strive for the goals set by itself or its wielder. This is reflected in air and electrical elements being used in combat.

actually none of those quite hit the mark (except possibly bourden stave which is the only one I don't recognize) and voulge is actually the farthest from the truth. The weapon is actually a very unlikely design.

A Bourden Stave is a halberd on steroids. You basically take a ten foot long pole, put a spearhead on one end, then an axe on one side of that, and a scythe blade on the other.

In fact I might take that...

Physical Appearance: Kai is very tall and skinny, standing at 6’ and weighing all of 150 lbs. total. He has dark black hair, cut short, covering his forehead and falling to the middle of his ears and neatly trimmed at the back of his neck and dark brown eyes set into a narrow face with high cheekbones, the type to be very handsome is he weren’t so easy to forget. He usually wears a pair of black cargo shorts with a black t-shirt covered by a dark grey sweatshirt, and a pair of black DCs. A pair of big black headphones rest around his neck, the cord quickly disappears from sight down the collar of his sweatshirt, plugged in to an MP3 player resting in his right pocket, and his ears are covered in bright silver earrings, seven on the left and three on the right. Personality: Kai is cold and distant, he doesn’t talk much and smiles even less, and because of that he easily fades from thought, and blends into the background easily, the only thing that really stands out about him are his piercings and the music constantly blaring from the headphones around his neck. He has a rather cruel sense of humor, he would laugh if someone carrying more than they could handle tripped and dropped what they were carrying instead of stepping up and offering to help them, and he is constantly annoyed by bright and energetic people, describing them as “A waste of space.”

History: Kai grew up as an army brat, moving from city to city, which led to Kai never trying to make any friends, and immersing himself in music instead, since it was the one thing that was he could take with him as he moved from city to city. But his taste in music usually got him picked on in the base schooling, and his attitude got some of the other boys on base after him, which led to fighting, and since Kai fought back against the sons of higher-ranking officers of his dad, he was expelled. Angry at the unfairness of it all and sick of his mother’s tears and his father’s shouting, Kai left home and went to a concert featuring one of his favorite bands.

While there a strange girl sidles up to him, which he was not altogether unused to at concerts, but it differed in one detail. This girl had a hand down the back pocket of his pants, and was taking his wallet back out with it. As she tried to make her escape he grabbed on to the first part of her he could get ahold of, her hair. His face stayed stony with anger as she let out a squeak of pain as she was yanked back in the direction she had come from. As she turned to face him, she stared up into a mask of righteous fury, as Kai glared down at her, his free hand open and waiting for the return of his wallet. She returned it with a sheepish smile, and tried to escape once more as he checked the contents, but was yanked back once more, this time by the wrist as Kai’s large hand caught ahold of her. His look of fury had changed to one of pure annoyance as he motioned for her to return the cash missing from his wallet.

She tried to pull away from him only to find three big burly men closing in on her, reeling drunk and roaring about stealing money from them. She turned back and ran into Kai, who was still holding onto her. One of the drunkards mistook Kai for being her accomplice, and tried to hit Kai. The large, gangly teen easily dodged the attack and decked the offender, laying him out flat on the ground. The remaining two pulled out a couple guns, at which point the girl scampered behind Kai, using him as a shield. She grabbed onto his sides and something inside him seemed to click and his body seemed to slip away, condensing and reforming itself into a wicked-looking black guitar cradled inside the girl’s arms, and a large blast of high-frequency sound killed the three men who were once again bearing down upon the pair, guns trained on the girl.

Kai transformed once again and the souls of the three men floated over to him and disappeared inside of his body. The two fled the scene together and were quickly attacked by what both of them could only describe as a grotesque thing later on. Kai once more went through the transformation, but the thing proved far stronger than they, and they were scooped up by staff from Shibusen, which killed the thing that had nearly killed them with ease, and whisked them away from the scene. It wasn’t until after this whole ordeal that Kai became aware of what his transformation meant, or even that the girl he was now stuck with was named Dez.
