Well, I have been inspired to create an Inquisition based WH 40k role play. There will be canon characters available on a first come first serve basis. The general concept is the protagonist end of the spectrum consists of a Radical cabal within the Emperor’s Inquisition. The cabal’s purpose is to secretly ally the Imperium with sentient and personable Xenos, namely Eldar and Tau, to oppose the forces of Chaos. Though such cannot be made obvious, this organization was sanctioned by the Council of Terra and the Emperor himself, as best as he can do so. The Cabal is currently led by the ambitious Inquisitor, Euphrati Sevrine. The PCs, the acolytes, will serve as the cabal’s agents and what not.
On the other side, there is the Puritanical Inquisitor, Lazerus Nicodemus, who seeks to counter the Cabal’s fraternization with vile Xeno scum to burn them at the stake for their seemingly heretical ideals and methods.
Also opposing the well-to-do Cabal as well as Nicodemus are the forces of Chaos, mainly those under Tzeench, god of secrets, mutation, and sorcery. The human Jace Betanre, Angel of Fate, serves his lord, the architect of Fate, Tzeench, and provides subtle, confusing truths about his liege’s machinations to the acolytes, leading them farther and farther into the plans of the Dark Gods.

Role Players will set forth into the grim darkness of the Warhammer 40,000 universe to uncover and battle with the vile forces of Chaos and fight for mankind’s right to live.


For those of you not familiar with Warhammer 40k, the Inquisition is the Emperor of all Mankind’s answer to the many threats to his Imperium. They are above all other authority. The Inquisition faces the daemons of the warp, the xeno(alien) menaces, and the many heretical sects of humanity with unflinching fervor. The Inquisitors command their acolytes who carry out their masters’ wills and whims.

Available Roles:
Human Acolytes- Allied with the Inquisition, Acolytes are skilled at getting the information they need, as well as being more than competent fighters. They can come from all walks of life and fit any squad role, though they tend to be a bit more well rounded than others in their fields of expertise.
Human Sanctioned Psykers(only with special permission, please ask)- Humans of great psychic potential, these living gates to the Warp have been tested to the extremes to prove their strength against daemonic corruption, often being pushed into the depths of insanity in doing so. Sanctioned psykers can select 2 Disciplines to follow: Logokine, Pyrokine, Telekine, Telepath, Astropath, Divination(with special permission), Biomancy, or Navigator(takes up both slots).
Non-Imperial Humans- Criminals, rogues, mutants, and heretics make up this section. These are any humans that reject the word of the Emperor, including rogue psykers, who tend to be more powerful and dangerous than Sanctioned Psykers, but have less control over their powers and run a much higher risk in using them.
Xeno Agents- these aliens serve the Cabal as specialists and go-betweens with their own races. Eldar and Tau are the most common species, though you may create your own with my approval. Tyrannids, Orkz, and Dark Eldar are not allowed for this role.
Xeno Opposition- Xenos seek to destroy Mankind at all times. These are the forces opposing all that the Imperium stands for. Tyrannids are not available as playable characters. Other than that, you can be most anything.
Chaos Tainted- Those who have felt the touch of the Daemon and embraced it. The followers of the Dark Gods are a depraved and obsessed variety. May Choose from: Nurgle, god of death, disease, pestilence and decay, Tzeench, god of sorcery, knowledge, mutation, and fate, Khorne, god of blood, war, violence, and skulls, or Slaanesh, god of depravity, excess, sadism, and unholy pleasure.

Alignment: Where do your aligiances lie? Know that I am a bit more lenient with this than most GMs probably are, as long as you keep in mind playability of your choice.

Psychic Discipline: (psykers only. If you are not a psyker but REALLY want some psychic powers, PM me and I’ll see what we can manage.)

Cult: Who do you worship? Imperial Humans=Emperor, Chaos=selected god, Xenos=ask me if you don’t know, it really depends.

Career: for acolytes and Cabal members, state either a trade skill you have, or give your career prior to the Inquisition.

History: Where were you born? How did you enter the Inquisition? What brought you under the influence of the Dark Gods? How did you get to where you are now?

Personality: Who are you, what are your mannerisms? I am a bit lax in this category due to the fact that I like seeing personalities develop.

Appearance: What do you look like?(Certain Species may limit this section.)

Equipment: For now, keep it basic. For a general Idea of what kinds of military and personal protection tech are available, Either ask me or look it up on the various Warhammer 40k wikis.

Heirloom: You can think up one, high quality item, keepsake, or weapon. It can be most anything, though I will let you know if you need to change it and how best to do so to keep with the original idea. This is your prized possession and should fit your character well. For example, an assassin might have a knife or sword or something taken from a significant kill, a soldier might have a lucky side arm or blessed ammo casing or spent shell.

Name: Euphrati “Alpha” Sevrine

Race: Human

Alignment: Coalition Cabal, Third in line of Inquisitors.

Psychic Discipline: None, though she is a wrydling, possessing several potent powers in secret.

Cult: Cult Imperialis

Career: Noble/Imperial Governor. She rules over the Frontier world Settlement 246, or Legiconn, harbouring many of her contacts and most of the Cabal there.

History: Entering the Inquisition under Inquisitor Altaire, she was selected as an officer/squad leader for her charismatic and commanding prescence. A Terran born of noble blood, her family moved to a frontier world near the Halo Stars of the Calaxis Sector, slated for copius hive constructions in the future. After joining the Inquisition, her father, the Planetary Governor at the time, became sickly. Soon after her ascension to the rank of Inquisitor, her father died, leaving the position to her through a network of connections and honour ties that she had habitually created and maintained with the help of her think-tank honor guard and personal retinue, despite her Inquisitorial obligations. She is often forced away on Cabal business, leaving one of many proxies in her place.

Personality: Euphrati is a cool tempered individual and a fiercely independent being with an overwhelming perfection and inspiring aura of loyalty. She is intelligent and strong willed, carrying an air of sophistication and authority. She is usually a very tact speaker, employing strong rhetoric and nimble manipulation and control of her audience.

Appearance: At the age of 39, Euphrati is strikingly beautiful, as if beyond the effects of aging and stress. She has platinum coloured hair with fair skin and bright blue eyes and a svelte figure. She is commonly seen wearing full light carapace warily similar to that worn by many Eldar Aspect warriors, adorned with holy icons and Imperial filigree, or extravagant, but not gaudy, dresses and tunics, often with highly cut gorgets.

Equipment: Normally, she wears her custom power blade, Libertaria, at her waist ornamentally. In full war gear, she carries a spear of strange design, having a long, power blade at one end, and a weighted sphere at the other for balance, along with an assortment of high quality side arms and mono and power blades. Her battle plate is of unknown design and covered with hexagrammic wards.

Alignment: To himself first and foremost, followed closely by the Cabal.

Psychic Discipline: Divination.

Cult: Cult Imperialis.

Career: Previously a Sanctioned Psyker in the service of the Rogue Trader Mordecai for 20 years, has done work in the medical field as well as with Machines.

History: Born in the Imperial World, Hagia , Thomas showed signs of potential in the ways of divination at a young age. He was taken at a young age to learn to control his psychic powers and eventually passed the rite of sanctioning although this has left a mark upon him. Instead of working for the Inquisition which would be normal for someone of his skill set he was scooped up by the Rogue Trader Mordecai Borne, and began work as the trader’s personal diviner. After working alongside Mordecai for many years, he briefly worked with the Rogue Trader Cynthia Anastasia to aide Mordecai to regain his ship and get revenge on the Rogue Trader family Arcturus. After returning from the Koronus Expanse with knowledge of the Xenos and the warp, he now works under Euphraiti Sevrine in the Cabal, as a diplomat, travelling the universe, negotiating with Xenos and the Imperium alike.

Personality: Assertive to his underlings, but submissive to those above him. Cromwell is passive aggressive. He tends to refer to his master as Lady Sevrine. He has had his days of action and tends to avoid confrontation when he can, but that doesn’t mean he is a pushover in a deal. He dislikes using his powers due to bad things occasionally occurring when he does.

Appearance: Thomas is in his mid 40s. He is not yet balding, but is showing signs of aging. His short dirty blonde hair is turning grey and he needs glasses to read. He is slimly built which is obvious when he is in his diplomatic robes, but when dressed in his combat gear he appears slightly stocky though his thin face gives him away. He keeps a stopwatch set to the time on Legiconn. Adorned with symbols of the Imperium, the Rogue Trader Mordecai and those of the Cabal, his diplomatic robes distinguish him as a well-travelled and knowledgeable man.

Equipment: Armed with a Stub Auto with a red dot sight and a mono sword, Thomas prefers to avoid combat. Other items of note are a pair of Photo-contacts, used to see in the dark, a Pict Recorder and his diplomatic robes. As a psyker he also carries a psy focus and his Psykana Mercy Blade, in case he loses control of his powers.

Heirloom: From his days working for Mordecai, he has kept his Flak Armour. It is of superior Quality and has the Mordecai Family Symbol displayed upon it. It weighs half as much as normal Flak and gives slightly better protection.

Name: Haegr wolfsbane

Race: Space Marine

Age: 245

Alignment: The Emperor

Cult: The Emperor

Career: Space Wolves Long Fang/ Death Watch scout and tracker

History: Haegr joined the Space Wolfs when he was 16. An invading tribe wiped out his tribe and he would have been dead if the wolf priest, who was watching the fight, hadn’t chosen him. Haegr was placed onto a Thunderhawk and sent to a camp where other aspirants were training and he and four others were placed together to form a claw. Months later Haegr and the remaining three members of his claw (one died fighting a troll) were sent to The Fang. From there they were put through more tests and training and out of the four only him and one other person survived the training. Both of them received their equipment, although Haegr’s had to be special made, and were both placed into Berek Thunderfists’ company.

For about a century and a half Haegr was a Blood Claw until he was promoted to a Grey Hunter and so he served for another half century. At the end of his second century as a Space Wolf he was once again elevated to the position of Long Fang. For about thirty years he fought the Emperor’s enemies as a Long Fang when the Death Watch asked Logan Grimnar if they could borrow him. None knew why they wanted them or the Death Watch never told them why but the Great Wolf allowed it and for about ten years Haegr served the Death Watch as a scout and tracker on numerous jungle and death planets, and a couple of hive planets, and acted as the heavy weapons specialist. Now he works with the Inquisitor Euphrati “Alpha” Sevrine, by the order of the current commander of the Death Watch, to provide her with support against any Xenos that she may come across.

Personality: Haegr is a very loud person, usually trying to be the center of attention by speaking in a yelling voice, and also a very boastful person, usually naming feats that he has done like how he pulled one of his wolf brothers from a squig pit before they could eat him. He believes that any fight that he is a part of anyone fighting with him will always be victories. Haegr also has a large appetite, possibly a mutation from his geneseed, where he will eat large amounts of food, like three turkeys, five loaves, of bread, and four wheels of cheese, and not even feel full and is always complaining how he wished that he had some Iron Islands ale, which is apparently one of the best ales on Fenris. He also likes to tell stories, although most are about him and his “many” exploits. He tries to demand respect from others, from facts like he’s a space marine and a great fighter, but he usually doesn’t get it. However, despite all of these flaws or whatever you want to call them, Haegr has a heart of gold. In a fight he will fight hard to protect his comrades, and he will fight like he was possessed by a daemon to defend his battle-brothers.

Appearance: Haegr is a mountain of a man, even by space marine standards, standing at 10’8. His face appears to be set in a permanent scowl and his face is covered in scars from his grey hunter days. His canines are longer than those of a grey hunter’s and his hair, which is a coal black, reaches to his shoulders and has wolf shaped amulets tied into it. He has a large build and a very muscular body from the harsh training that every wolf went through and from carrying heavy weapons. One of his eyes, which he lost as a blood claw, was replaced with a cybernetic eye that helped him determine range, enemy positions, and remaining ammo. His remaining eye is a fierce blue that glitters like chips of polar ice. Haegr has to wear a special suit of Power Armor customized to hold his gigantic form. His power armor is made up of two colors, a grey blue for the majority and a bright yellow on the shoulder pads. On the right shoulder pad is the symbol of his chapter and the left is the symbol for Berek Thunderfist’s company. On his right kneepad is the image of a wolfs head and etched onto his right gauntlet are five runes that spell out “Death”.

Equipment: *A special made MK. 12 Lupio pattern power armor to hold his massive form.

*An Astartes MK IVc-pattern heavy bolter

*A box magazine strapped onto his back containing 40 standard heavy bolter belts and 10 metal storm frag belts.

*A power knife for close combat

*5 frag grenades

*An Auspex

Heirloom: Around Haegr’s neck he wears a chain that has an amulet attached to it. The amulet was a gift from the Great Wolf Logan Grimnar himself. The amulet was rather plain. It was made out of gold and shaped in a circle with a wolf’s skull and two bones crossing on it. Logan Grimnar told him that the amulet was something that was given to every new Great wolf as a token of good luck and good fortune.

Thank you giga, I'll wait for the full history. I myself am not the most familiar with the Space Wolves, but I thought the primarch was Russ, although that may have been prior to the Horus Heresy.

Here is the character I will be playing.

Name: Inhotept Reglon

Race: Human

Alignment: The Coalition Cabal

Cult: Imperial Creed

Career: Prior to the Inquisition, Inhotept was a junior member of a Forge World noble’s think tank and a copiest. Now, he operates as a Xenos Archivist under Euphrati Sevrine, as well as a Cabal translator.

History: Inhotept comes from a family of scholars, with a few acolytes here and there, mostly proclaimed radicals. On his home world among the Lathes of the Calaxis Sector, he was hired as an inspector and minor advisor for a Mechanicus Magos, providing him with “human” insight and intuition. He also took great pride in being a member of the Colleges Hetaireia Lexis. But the relatively plush position did not last long, as Inquisitor Sevrine quickly plucked up the prodigal mind with high expectations, bring the curious, admittedly bored boy into the Inquisition.

Personality: Inhotept comes across as a fairly arrogant figure when confronting other humans, especially those of a lower level of thought than his own. Above all, he respects knowledge, and restraint. He is a powerful manipulator, playing situations of all kinds to his advantage. At best, he is quiet and reserved, at worst he is dry and sarcastic.

Appearance: Inhotept is a young man of 23, having a slim figure with a grey-tan colour to him. His hair is dirty blonde with streaks of platinum blonde in it. His eyes are a dark grey with an intelligent glint. He favours trench coats and jackets over the traditional scribe’s robes and has an electoo on the back of his neck displaying the brand of the Cabal, an Inquisition I with crossed spears behind it.

Equipment: Inhotept’s wargear consists of a relatively light Flak Coat with a cameleoline coating over a hardened bodyglove as well as an Eldar mono-blade and an assortment of silenced, semi-automatic handguns. In addition to his wargear, he generally carries an autoquil, a chrono, and a personal cogitator.

Heirloom: Inhotept carries a cherished Occular Catechizer, a family relic from an age long gone, it has been skillfully maintained. It includes a laser light targeting system set to a frequency not visible to the human eye unaided that can be synchronized with a myriad of firearms. Also, it can provide telescopic vision on the covered eye and can extend a visor over both eyes for closer inspections.

Logan Grimnar is the Current Chapter Master of the Space Wolves. He has been Great Wolf for 700 years as of M41. Leman Russ disappears between M31 and M32 when he and the 13th Company embarks for the Eye of Terror.

Ah, I don't read many space marine novels other than the Horus Heresy series, which is only partially space marine. They were so much cooler pre-heresy.
