Yes it does, but that's mundane fire, normal heat, this is Hellfire. It's pretty much on an entire different level, and it doesnt just burn you physically either.
And either way you'd still have to change it since he knocked you off before the fire in any case, and come to think of it, if any of it hit you you'd be naked even if you weren't dead...

Yeeeeah, I think it works out better for everyone this way.
