Indeed! I've remade my character's personality as time went on just so there could be a more positive and naively idealistic character. Aside from when Nina's drunk, Kit is stuck with some very serious old people. I say old, because in JRPG years, being 20 and over is really more like being over 40.
That's because our characters haven't met....oh wait, that won't work either.

Alright, here's my shot at the Drifter Princess role~!


Name: Violet Louise Conrad
Archetype: Drifter Princess
Age: 18
Height: 5'4
Weight: 110 lbs

Appearance: Standing at a petite height of five feet and four inches, one wouldn’t automatically believe that Violet Conrad was a drifter. With her ink black hair cut into a bob that frames her wide brown eyes quite nicely, she looks more like she’s fifteen rather than eighteen. This misconception isn’t helped by the fact that she doesn’t have much in the way of physical assets either. For Violet, looking good is just as important as how useful something is. She wears a strappy knee length red dress. The dress has several layers of frills over the bust to try and disguise her rather... lackluster amount of curves. To preserve her modesty on any jobs that leave Violet needing to be running a lot she wears a pair of black leggings under her dress so she can jump around as necessary without embarrassing herself. She owns a pair of well taken care of knee height boots with a sensible heel that strap up the sides with small buckles. She also seems to love jewelry, no matter the value so long as it’s pretty and has a variety of costume jewelry combs that sparkle appropriately for her to fix in her hair. She loses and breaks them often so she always has a ready supply of them. She carries her arm hidden inside a travel worn guitar case that has a few stickers slapped onto it from various destinations. But almost in direct contrast to her rather feminine appearance when she travels she wears a worn looking brown traveling coat that’s a little long on her.

Personality: The first word to come to mind describing Violet? Vibrant. She’s full of a vitality and energy that most young people carry with them and uses all of that energy to the fullest. She’s very honest in her emotions. Her face is an open book where all you have to do is look and soon it will become obvious what’s going on in her head. While this doesn’t make her the best person to go to with a secret of any sort, it does make it easy for people to trust her because she doesn’t hide what she feels behind some mask.

At times she seems a bit eccentric with her loud way of declaring things to make them seem grand. She treats life as an adventure, though when she hits pitfalls she tends to get annoyed and will accuse a higher power of being against her for some reason or another. She expects everything to fall in line for her. And when they don’t she’ll get bent out of shape about it, giving the feeling that she was really spoiled as a child and hasn’t adapted to the real world yet.

In relation to other people, Violet comes off as an oddity. She has strong opinions on how people ought to behave. (“You’re a man! Act like one!” | “A woman needs to be well groomed even in the middle of the desert! What, were you raised in a barn?!”) She has a strong sense of justice, and will go out of her way to right something she see’s as wrong, a habit that gets her into trouble more often than not. And she also lacks a filter between her brain and her mouth most days. If a thought hits her, she’ll blurt it out before her brain can kick in and stop her, which also gets her in quite a few fixes.


Occupation: Drifter and general Jane-of-all-Trades! She’ll take any job that peaks her fancy just so long as she gets something nice out of the bargain!

ARM Name: Kickback Juliet
Appearance: Resembling an old fashioned tommy-gun, Kickback Juliet has a dark mahogany set of hand holds. The butt of the gun has two red ribbons each measuring about twelve inches long hanging from it as well. The gun is well proportioned for someone of Violet’s size and weight and fits into the guitar case that serves as it’s carrying case quite well.

Characteristics: A submachine gun, Kickback Juliet is pretty basic rapid fire gun. It fires normal ammunition in large volumes with a loud report. But if the situation calls for it, Violet can take the barrier that her ARM generates and shatter it so that it scatters through the area, allowing her to ricochet shots off the individual pieces to shoot around corners and perform shots that are otherwise impossible at the cost of Violet’s own defense. Currently the range of how far the ricochet shields is limited to a certain distance and they can ricochet only a certain number of shots before breaking.

A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

Appearance:
Margaret has beautiful, fiery auburn hair, which falls a little bit past her shoulders. Usually, it’s tied up in loose pigtails with leathers strips. She has a relatively lithe figure along with an athletic build. Her cheeks are adorned lightly with freckles. Margaret’s deep emerald green eyes and sparkle with life just above full rosy lips that are quick to part and flash a pearly smile. Clapped on her head at a rakish angle is beige, felt cowboy hat. A bit of intertwining black and white cord is wrapped around the base of the crown to help the hat keep its shape, the end tassels are in the white cord.

Margaret wears a cream coloured blouse. The blouse is unbuttoned halfway, which exposes a crimson bustier with black lace trim as well as ample creamy skin and slightly freckled cleavage, just enough to make one wonder what lies further south. Over the blouse she wears an undone, scorched brown vest. Last of all comes a tan long-coat, which hangs to her knees. Margaret wears scorched brown, snug, leather pants. Her feet are clad in sturdy, leather boots that bear a 2” heel and reach almost to her knee. They are fitted to her legs and lace up.

Her pants are accessorized with a sturdy leather belt, from the back of this hangs her bowie knife in its sheath. About her waist, at rakish angles, are two gun belts, complete with ammo; one of the holsters bear golden scrollwork while the other is plain. The knife sheath hangs over the gun belts. She has a spring contraption attached to her right forearm that holds a smaller, double shot pistol. The gun is not very powerful or accurate, but than adequate for dealing with most anything at close range. Finally on her back she has a modified holster for carrying her lever-action rifle.

Personality:
Margaret is a cheery young lady. She basically just loves to enjoy life and has always had a yearning for adventure, so her current job fits her perfectly. She never liked having to take orders from anyone when she was younger which is probably what has led her to such a lifestyle. Margaret always had a problem being subservient to other people, as she is a free spirit, but she can be her own boss now. Her proficiency with a gun and blade has combined to make her fare rather well in her new line of work. The cheeriness with which she carries it out, however can be a bit unnerving as she’s liable to be beaming at you and carrying on a very intriguing conversation, before blasting your guts out.

Margaret possesses a wry, dry sense of humour and a quick. It’s often not until she’s swaying out of a saloon and into the street that one realizes they’ve been slighted. It may be one of her greatest joys when someone does not realize she is being sarcastic. Although Margaret is a cheery person she is not ignorant to the working of the world and it’s clear she learned form a young age, some way or another, that life is far from fair. She has become a hard person to shake as she adopted the belief that some things are inevitable and there’s nothing you can do to stop them, so you might as well have fun while you can.

Appearance:
The gun itself is conspicuously absent of life, it is clearly made of metal but it possesses no sheen to it, even under direct light it remains dull grey. It has silver scrollwork engraved around the chamber frame, and in the leather grip is embossed a long worn away inscription.

Characteristics:
Valencia, or Val as Margaret sometimes calls it, is a revolver of substantial size. When Margaret wields Val it seems as though her wrist must surely snap when she fires it. However, Margaret wields the gun as though it was no more than a trinket. Given it’s size one would expect Valencia to fire a large slug and she doesn’t disappoint. Val fires slugs that through virtue of their size, or some other power that Margaret doesn’t quite understand, blow holes the size of a respectable melon in her targets. Despite this Valencia is used sparingly as she uses extremely rare ammunition that is nearly impossible for Margaret to find. She has scoured smithies and gunshops in everytown she has only ever found two additional rounds. This brings the total rounds for Val up to eight. Six chambered and two on Margaret’s belt.

Wow, both of your sheets are excellent. It'll be difficult choosing between the two of you.

I've finally figured out what the archetype for our fourth male character slot will be:

"Sandcraft Mechanic": A young mechanical genius with an aptitude for tinkering. Comparing to the ARMS Smith, his knowledge of guns is the closest, but that's just a side effect of his love for all things mechanical. He knows much more about Sandcrafts, the hovering vehicles powered by steam that are popular in Old Fortessimo.

To him, the key to saving people in the wilderness and making life easy for people in the city is probably always machines. The character is a self-taught prodigy, who can have any level of formal or informal education, as long as he's not super wealthy. He's probably been approached a number of times by the dominant Veruni train company, but although whether or not he's done work for them is up to you, he's not actually an employee.

He must be an orphan who lives on his own. All other current characters have living parents or guardians of some kind, save presumably Walter, and Leni. It's up to you whether or not his parents were great inventors, or even if he remembers them at all. But having them be alive would leave too many parents in the RP. ^_^'

His personality has a lot of leeway; he could be a somewhat cranky young inventor who is bad with people, or he could be a friendly, precious boy proud of his contraptions. His weapon will most likely be something unorthodox, like a giant wrench or pressure-driven spike. You might want to give him glasses, but that's up to you. We already have a glasses gentleman and a glasses gentlewoman in the RP, but I'm always up for there being a glasses boy too. XD

Well, the problem with soldier types is that your guy would have to be basically a Marshall, since there are no real "nations," and the closest thing the setting has had to outright war in the short recorded history is the Big Brawl. Which would point to Walter being the party veteran, on the criminal side. Sorry, but I don't think there's any reason to have another "old guy." XD

This way, the age range is most even. Granted, Walter is much older than the "old" woman in the party, Nina, (Please don't cry! o_o) but otherwise, you have a young female and male character, a teenage female and male character, an older male and female character, etc.

Name: Daniel Trausse
Age: 16
Archetype: Sandcraft mechanic
Height: 5'8
weight: 145 lbs.

Appearance: Daniel has brown eyes,, but not that it would matter. For Daniel almost always has one his green tinted construction goggles. He has worn them so much, that he has a goggle tan line on his face, making it harder still to get them away from him. He has no discernible marks on his face, other then a small scar on his forehead, that can only be seen when he scrunches up his brow. A dirty blond mop mop hair lies underneath the green slightly ripped up Boony cap he also wears on his head. His face is usually covered in a little bit of dirt due to the nature of his work.

As far as clothes go. Daniel usually wears an of olive many-pocketed one piece, slightly baggy, mechanic's uniform. Strangely, it looks almost exactly like the Veruni trading mechanic's uniform, it's just missing the tell-tale Veruni patch, in it's place is a small group of frayed threads, in the outline of the Veruni logo. As well as his goggles, Daniel wears a tool belt, filled with, as one would think, a vast assortment of useful tools in the opening, closing, cutting, saudering, welding, screwing, or drilling. His pant leg's are stuffed into the dark brown, steel toed, workman's boots he wears. As one would expect, Daniel wears simple mechanic gloves, they come up to about mid-arm, and are fairly thick.

Personality: Daniel, always wears a perpetual smile on his face. A boy naturally fool of curiosity. A boy of genuine initiative, he takes things apart, and instead of putting them back together, he will usually try to find a way to make it better. While Daniel seems like an Optimist, in truth he is as neutral as neutral goes. Not really thinking about the bad or the good. He understands that evrything just is. As simple as that, at least to him.

This, of course, has no affect on how he interacts with others, usually being quite the talker, he's not afraid to ask questions, and not afraid to act like a smartass, and not afraid to tell people what he thinks. Although, mixed in with this, is his understanding, that he's still just a boy, and doesn't really have much authority over anything.
Despite his "philosophical" outlook on life, Daniel is a nice person, he's kind, but not too kind to be naive. One would say he possesses the same amount of friendliness a mongoose would have.....were a mongoose a talking thinking animal.
As for the notion that many, many people have put up before him (guns, and machinery are weapons of death, blah, blah, blah) Daniel is confused, he understands where they come from and generally has no answer to it. But he does have one answer that's rather harsh. "why do they make guns? I think it's because they can."
He comforts himself in knowing that he generally does not dabber in such things, and is usually engrossed in more vehicular work , although were he givin a chance to "improve" on one such trinket ( and he has been, many times before) he would jump on it.

Occupation: By all definitions a mechanic. While his knowledge of vehicles is vast, Daniel's insatiable quest to improve upon things, has led him to many other mechanical fields of knowledge, namely ARM's technology. No he cannot make a gun from scratch, but give him the right parts and tools, he can put it together, although he'd be complaining on how poor a quality the weapon would be, and offer to "upgrade" it the entire time. Same thing goes for vehicles, although when working with those, he chooses to approach a more silent/mellow method of work.


Arm: Vega Rivet-gun

Appearance: as the name would imply. Daniel uses a portable rivet gun as a weapon. Included in the setup he wears a gas-tank on his back. But this tank is not overtly huge, and is also made from some rather light metal, courtesy of Daniel's search into junk lots. it is connected to the rivet gun, by a large metal-mesh hose.

The actual gun-part looks much like a rivet gun, there are a few modifications here and there, a lengthened barrel, that appeared to have once been the barrel of an ARM, as well as the stock of again, such a weapon. On the stock, Daniel has set in some cloth padding, the he hand-made an glued into the end of the stock, to reduce some of the large kickback he has on the gun. For all intensive purposes, it looks like a largish, ARMs rifle, with some odd back-pack setup. It is called a Vega Rivet gun, for the letters on the gun's trigger.

Characteristics: Now as we all know, rivet guns are pretty heavy, but the Vega rivet-gun is not just your old regular heavy rivet gun. It was designed to be rather light, as well as fire generally smaller rivets, as well as holding the small gas-tank in the gun itself, it was, for all instances, an "all-in-one" riveter.

BUT, Daniel in his quest to ever make things better, decided to strip the gun of it's small tank, as well as modifying the barrel to shoot larger rivets (and make the gun more accurate), at a cost to this however, he has to wear a large gas-tank on his back, this gas-tank, however is made from some rather light materials, all courtesy of Daniel's searching about in junk lots for useful things.

The thing about rivets as a weapon is this. While they do generally provided a lot of punch the are crap at bullet penetration. Much like Hydra rounds from real guns, a bullet so named achieves its wounding capacity through expansion, ensuring maximum energy transfer and a larger permanent cavity than a nonexpanding bullet.

But again, it does almost nothing against armored targets.

I strongly encourage applicants to apply for *both* roles I've suggested. This is in case you don't get the one you initially wanted, but even if you don't get either role, I would suggest putting more examples of character sheets out, just because that helps inspire me a little for future events/characters, and you would be more likely to get a non-party member role.

Name: Artemis

Archetype: Sandcraft Mechanic

Age: 17

Height: 6’ 4”

Weight: 250 pounds

Appearance:
Artemis is a large young man standing 6' 4". He has a broad chest and even broader shoulders from years of manual labour; wielding large tools, maneuvering machine bits into place and so on. His biceps stretch the fabric of his shirt and his forearms are also rather prominent. He has feet in proportion to the rest of his body, which means large and his hands could envelope most peoples. They are criss-crossed with cuts and are rough and worn.

Artemis’ black hair falls to his shoulders. When he is working on something he ties most of it back with a strip of leather he keeps handy. Artemis’ hair bears resemblance to a lion’s mane, being thick and rather shaggy in appearance. He has a very sturdy looking face. No fine, thin bones evident, Artemis’ face looks like it could take on a wall and come out none the worse for wear. He has thick eyebrows and out from under them peer startlingly deep, blue, eyes. He sports a respectable black beard which covers the lower half of his face, making his eyes stand out all the more, if you can get a look at them. Normally they are rather obscured by hair or the angle that Artemis holds his head at.

His clothes are simple and functional. He wears a grey t-shirt that looks several sizes to small as it strains to contain his torso and arms, reality is it was the biggest he could get a hold of. The shirt bears several dark smears and stains. Artemis’ wears blue denim overalls, though they are no longer quite as blue as they were when they started life, they are now a dull blue-ish brown. Artemis wears them with the suspenders still attached to the front bib but not over his shoulders, rather each suspender hangs to either side of his thick thighs. On his back is a scratch built leather harness where he stows his large pipe wrench, Samson. A red kerchief hangs from one of the rear pockets. Around his waist is a heavy leather belt with numerous loops for a variety of tools, primarily wrenches and screwdrivers of different sizes and styles, a hacksaw, hammers and a number of pouches holding various odds and ends. He also possesses a specialized cutting tool, which utilizes extreme heat and water pressure. Artemis wears heavy leather finger gloves when he is repairing or tinkering, otherwise said gloves are tucked into the belt. On the whole he looks rather un protected for the work he’s doing which has led to several scars visible crossing his forearms and hands, and others hidden from sight.

Personality:
If one wanted to describe Artemis in one word they would probably say bitter. The emotion is inherent after talking to him or observing him for a few moments. The way he acts with and communicates to people displays this. His behaviour really boils down to him not really trusting anyone very far and generally expecting the worst from people. He’s not a lost cause, as long as you’re patient and allow him time to get used to the fact you don’t want to screw him over he’ll trust you, to an extent. He’s had too much bad luck to trust anyone implicitly anymore.

Artemis finds solace in his gadgets and machines. He’s good at his job, he’s efficient and inventive and machines just make sense to him and never willingly hurt him, unlike people. This has lead him to become rather reclusive. He lives in the local junk heap in a rather handsome, if hard to find and seemingly haphazardly constructed, shelter. He offers his services to those who ask, if they pay upfront and don’t hang around while he works. Artemis basically looks out for number one; his disposition is cold and will never do something “out of the goodness of his heart” because he generally doesn’t feel people are worth the effort. Something has to be in it for Artemis for a task to rouse his interest.

Occupation: Junker/Mechanic

Samson

Appearance:
Samson is a big pipe wrench. About four feet long, most of which is the handle. The wrench is made of a curious dark metal giving it a consistent dull sheen. The haft of it has several thumb switches bronze in colour.

Characteristics:
Set within the wrench are several different kinds of wrenches of varying sizes. Artemis boasts that as long as he has Samson he can adequately fix anything. Which is probably not a boast at all. The wrench itself is incredibly versatile, possessing tens of gadgets that Artemis can eject at the flick of any of the switches along the haft. The head of the wrench is about twice as thick as the haft and has two cylindrical spikes protruding from either jaw. Thusly Artemis often falls back on Samson as a melee weapon. While still being rather heavy the special metal has made Samson not nearly as heavy as it should be. This combined with Artemis' strength allows him to be able to wield Samson with blinding speed as well as the wrench packing quite a wallop as well as it being able to puncture most armours with it's spikes.

I'll wait a few more days and then make a decision on who to accept and in which role. Then we'll start again immediately. I've already thought of a way to incorporate the new characters into the oncoming plot.

Alrighty, here's my Sandcraft mechanic sheet~


Name: Nikolai ‘Niko’ Atla
Archetype: Sandcraft mechanic
Age: 15
Height: 5'7
Weight: 133 lbs

Appearance: Tall and lanky for his age, Niko still has a very boyish air about him despite the fact that he’s shed what baby fat he had left from his preteen years. With dark green eyes and brown hair that’s carefully brushed back excluding a few unruly strands that qualify as bangs. He wears a pair of well loved brown cargo pants that are made interesting with clumsy patch jobs to cover up holes and held up by a tool belt that’s constantly clanking with all sorts of things hanging off of it. He wears a plain form fitting brown shirt with 3/4 sleeves. He wears sensible buckle up shin high boots that have been reinforced with metal plates. He doesn’t wear much in terms of adornment. He’ll usually have some bandages on his face from scrapes one constantly going over his nose and one usually resting on his cheek. He only has one piece of jewelry, a simply silver chain that has a set of dog tags and a locket.

Personality: Niko’s a bit of a contradiction of behaviors, showing different sides of himself depending on the situation. He doesn’t open up to others automatically but takes a little while to judge for himself whether it’s worth it. He has a constantly changing view of right or wrong and he refuses to consider the need of many to be more important than the need of one. With a strong sense of pride in himself and his creations, Niko takes any failure of himself or his inventions as a blow and he works hard to make things perfect. Any insult is likewise taken as an insult aimed at him. He’s riled up and has a bit of a short temper than leads him on long rants but rarely ever to violence.

But in contrast, when he’s presented with something new and fascinating all his walls drop down and he becomes like a little kid with a brand new toy. He’ll ask a constant stream of questions and getting impatient when answer aren’t presented to him immediately will take it apart and find out for himself. He’s easily able to understand new ideas presented and is actually a very smart boy who’s only limited by the fact that he’s never had any formal education beyond mechanics. But on the subjects he does know about he’ll talk about them at length without pause (almost seeming as if he’s not breathing).


Occupation: Inventor! But more than that he’s an artist because he creates things that are both beautiful and functional! And really, people can be so close minded about new things, so what if some of his inventions have some kinks? They just can’t understand genius, the cretins! Who could understand this grand vision...

ARM Name: Giant’s Fist
Appearance: Image

Characteristics: Despite it’s large size, this weapon has a perfect balance of weight between the head of the hammer and the grip. It’s a fairly hefty weight, the same as an average sledgehammer and Niko’s very adept at wielding it efficiently as both a tool and a weapon. But Niko also has a trick up his sleeve where he can load gunpowder shells into the shaft and ignite them to multiply the force of his strike.

Notes: Niko’s fighting style is strictly melee, his hits are powerful but due to the fact that he has to weild it with both hands his swings tend to range wide and leave a lot of openings. And unless using the gunpowder shells his attacks aren’t the fastest either. But when they do hit they cause significant damage.

^_^' Sorry, I know I said I'd get things moving on Monday, but I was exhausted after work and could barely stay awake.

I'll take care of it today and tonight.

Now for who's accepted.

I think I will have Berry take the "Drifter Princess" character slot and Tuor the "Sandcraft Mechanic" slot. To be honest, it was a really hard choice, since you all made good sheets, and both Berry and Tuor could play either role. I stuck with this though, since it seemed most natural and I felt you guys could probably have fun with the roles. Sorry Slip, but don't feel bad; you really did put a good sheet forward, and in the end, this was a very close toss-up.

Again, if your sheet wasn't accepted, and this goes for anyone else posting in here, you can ask me later for a support role if you feel like it, and I'll probably let you in, once I say there is a need for said roles.

Okay, I want to move forward now, but there are a couple of issues:
1. My memory is fuzzy, so a few people will be getting PMs about my plans. I'm really sorry.
2. I need Deena to post a response to my last GM post in the Veruni office. If you can't think of what to write, I can think of a few good suggestions. X3

I don't need to always provide the movement so if you want to post, Aura, you can go ahead and do so, having a post like going outside the hospital and looking for Nate, or something like that. He'll probably end up going to the Liebert Bar by "chance."

As for the two accepted players, you will be introduced shortly, but first, PM me with ideas about what you might want to do with your character's backstory and ongoing plot. This is what the other players did. Anything you don't want the other people to know right off the bat, and anything you might want me to incorporate into the storyline, you can suggest to me through there.
