A sword! I have no clue really.

Kinda reaching out here, but has anyone thought of who the "gods", which I'm assuming Naga works for, really are? I'm feeling like they might end up being the deities from samurai jack.

Well he referenced Japanese culture. Which has connections with Digimon, I recall someone mentioning.

Considering Naga's title, a theory that came up was that the Gods were the four creatures known as the Azure Dragon (Seiryu), White Tiger (Byakko), Black Tortoise (Genbu) and Vermilion Bird (Suzaku).

The possibility that some gods go by multiple titles is there too.

That comment doesn't say that Minnie will regain her living form. Just that she will have more action time.

I feel like Sigments's suggestion might be the right one, but I'm not 100% on that. If Naga is the representative (or whatever) of the Azure Dragon (Seiryu) which is East, then DeeDee could possibly be a representative too. If so, I would guess she would represent the White Tiger (Byakko) which is West. So there could be another two beings like DeeDee and Naga out there, that we haven't seen yet.
Like I said this thing with the Gods could all be part of the GT-PpGD timeline separation.

As for this: I think BR is trying to tell us, that Mandy is gonna get someone from Megaville to use that sword for her. But who? A hero, an offspring of one of the heroes? Any thoughts?

It always seemed most most common for those "chosen one" type swords to end up being wielded by the main protagonist, in this case that would be Junior. Minnie's also a possibility, and I'm not leaving Mimi out as a possibility either if her innocence could somehow be restored to some extent.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 8:33 pm
I vote "no" for Jr.
The little fuck is already too much of a power house.
Reaper powers + Nergal Demon + Sword that defeats evil = Why even bother to do anything.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 8:34 pm
Never said I approved, just that it's a possibility, albeit a hopefully slim one.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 8:46 pm
I agree with Blord.
Given what BR has said, I think that it's most likely gonna be a character from Megaville that wields the sword. One not yet introduced (Which I'm really hoping for). Although the evident is far from concrete, the dots seem to connect.

Am I the only one that feels Minnie getting the sword is a bit obvious?
If she doesn't I'd be shocked.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 9:54 pm
I feel like Mandy will actually wield it. The wielder doesn't have to be virtuous for it to work, it just can't be used against innocents. So couldn't she still use it against Aku and other demons? Either way, Minnie just doesn't feel like the right fit for the sword unless it can somehow be altered or changed, but I find that to be doubtful.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 9:58 pm
It said it right there in the comic that Mandy can't
use the sword herself.
Tenshi Nova wrote:Am I the only one that feels Minnie getting the sword is a bit obvious?

I still doubt Minnie will use it. I mean:
-Mandy can't use the sword.
-Mandy might have to use it if Aku goes against her.
-Mandy has someone in Megaville she can somehow manipulate.
The evidence seems to point in the direction of a Megaville hero using the sword for her. I'm not saying it's impossible that Minnie would use the sword. If anything, she the second person I would guess.

Minnie was sent to heaven.
Minnie trained a good fraction of her life for combat.
Knowing Mandy, this combat training was probably specifying certain lords.
Minnie's cover sword resembles it.
The possibility that the sword can only harm soulless things is still out there.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 10:18 pm
I agree with all of that, except the one about the sword on the front cover of the chapter. It just doesn't look like Jack's katana to me, hell, it doesn't even look like a katana. It looks more like a cutlass.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 10:21 pm
Agreed. A katana may not suit her style of sword training either.
Mon Oct 28, 2013 10:21 pm
I still believe in the possibility of the sword being altered.
I vaguely recall an episode in Grim Adventures, when Grim needed his scythe fixed.
I'll see this tomorrow, G'night everyone!
Mon Oct 28, 2013 10:33 pm
That's when he got Scythe 2.0. Grim's scythe was repaired and put back to normal. Altering the sword could compromise its metal integrity and mystical abilities with no way to restore them.
I feel like I need a Spock avatar now.

It does say explicitly that Mandy cannot use the sword. What I'm guessing the logic behind it is that Mandy is so evil that Aku comes off as an innocent when compared to her. Therefore the sword won't work for her (despite Aku still being evil). It'd at least tie in the original specifications for the sword to work properly, although thinking that Mandy is more evil that Evil Incarnate is a bit terrifying...

As long as you're being so... logical.

Yeah. Kinda weird. But Aku really isn't acting all that evil.

I wonder how Jack would react to the current Aku.
And there's no proof that altering the shape would compromise it's integrity :#
Tue Oct 29, 2013 7:21 am
If jack was still alive (or somehow came back) he would probably still see him as evil, even though he has inner peace he can still become enraged and attack Aku. Either way, Aku wants to have a challenge and fight his most worthy adversary. His only reason for not taking such a path would be Chi.

Have you ever worked with metal before out side of Minecraft or runescape? No, you haven't. Let me explain briefly.
Each time you melt down metal, clean out the impurities, etc, the metal becomes stronger, but also more brittle. Samurai Swords attempt to bypass this flaw by folding them on themselves a number of times. That strengthens them and prevents them from breaking, but the metal is still brittle. Taking a samurai sword and melting it down would destroy that framework of support and you would be left with brittle metal. No other sword design employs that craft to their swords. Rapiers, broad swords, short swords, and most of all the other styles forge the sword through placing metals together and hammering them into one, hammering the shape out, or using a mold.
If you take a samurai sword and melt it down, you compromise the strength of the metal because that framework that gives it strength is no longer there, thus you are compromising its integrity.
Now with Jack's sword, which was mystically created and enchanted by the Gods and the righteousness from the Samuairi Lord's heart, might not even be able to be melted down. Being protected by magic and stuff. But supposing that you could melt it down, its a very good chance that you will loose the enchantments it has for fighting evil. For one, the sword, not the metal is enchanted. The other reason is the habit of any magical artifact being cracked or damaged significantly (melting it down would count) loose their magical ability as they are no longer able to hold the power.
