I thought the purpose of exposition dialogue was meant for the audience and not the characters in the universe.

Certainly not in this case, given that the information given is incorrect/outdated. It's meant to be humorous juxtaposition, that the things Demongo is telling Chi are now grossly incorrect, given what he is saying and what we are seeing do not match up.

I don't think he'll be able to screw Mandy's up though. Grim, maybe.

This is not Exposition dialogue but another trope altogether known as Unreliable Voiceover. The information we're getting is completely in contrast to what we're seeing in the panels.

Hmm. Nice page. I suppose character growth is good, and seeing Jr get kicked to the kerb seems fitting.

She was a bit dependent on him.

As long as Minnie doesn't go completely Mandy-clone.

Cuz, like, y'know. We already have Mandy herself.

Demo doesn't even seem to have the information of Minnie's 'incident'. Though that makes me wonder if maybe the whole family is keeping it private.

That, and- the idea that this is all happening within a week.

Looking forward to what Minnie's going to pull. Chi's actions feel too predictable at this point. I'm happy with the feel right now, but I'm still wanting to be mind blown.

Mostly I just feel really bad for Junior having to be at the center of all this. XDDDD Poor baby~

I have to agree with you there. Although Minnie's new bitchy personality is pretty great, I want her to retain her individuality.

Which raises the question: "How did Him get a map of their castle to give to Mimi?". One theory is that he has a spy in the castle, another idea is that he himself might have been in Grimskull at one point.

I'm really hoping to see some good character development on all sides, especially with Jr.

"Minnie" is the right name in that sentence, guys
it wouldn't make the least bit of sense if it was Mimi considering they are talking about Minnie this whole page
also the wording seems fine to me? read it several times, maybe my mind is missing something...
i liked this page quite a bit
that cold shoulder sure is icy... brrr

edit: i did not notice there was a page 2 of discussion... hate when that happens

The sentence seems awkward.
Demo makes it sound like someone the exact opposite of Minnie would interest Chi, but Minnie is the one being spoken of.
But Demo likely meant that Chi, as someone who's the opposite of Minnie, would be interested in Minnie.

If he's saying that someone like Minnie being the opposite of Chi would have piqued Chi's interest, then the sentence likely should have been reworded as thus:

"I'm surprised. I would have thought that a person who was the exact opposite of Minnie's nature and approach would have...piqued their interests."

And that is still awkward as hell, too, and the flow of the sentence is still all messed up. But in the original, Demo went from referring to Chi in the third-person (if that's really what he was doing, anyway) to the second-person, which made the sentence inconsistent and confusing. Furthermore (and I think this is the main problem), the subject of the sentence is rather unclear. Most of use assumed that "that a person" referred to someone other than Chi, not Chi herself.

If the above was what Demo meant, then I think a clearer version should have been this:

"I'm surprised. I would have thought that a person who was the exact opposite of your nature and approach, such as Minnie, would have...piqued your interests."

Or:

"I'm surprised. I would have thought that a person like you would have been...interested in someone like Minnie, who is the exact opposite of your nature and approach."

Or those above, minus the "such as Minnie" and "like Minnie" parts.

Does that make sense? :0

First of all, you don't need to be rude.

Second of all, my post was not aimed at you in specific. My post was to help explain to people in general what I think was wrong with the sentence in that panel.

The first sentence comes off as rude because it's like "Ya, you took a lot of time to write that long response but I'm just going to ignore it because I don't care", that's all.
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

I guess Haru just wanted to come in and get a quick fix, and instead got what she thought was a wall of text? Eh...

My own personal thoughts on this page, it's a good one. I like that Minnie finally made even the smallest amount of her emotions shown to junior. Scorn, burns like ice.

I'm honestly surprised that she's taking her anger out on mirrors instead of on Mimi, especially after what Mandy told her about hesitation.

Just fyi, you generally don't need to respond to the poster directly above you unless they ask directly for a response which is rare in itself.

Cuz, like, y'know. We already have Mandy herself.

Minnie is a child. Children go through phases.
Originally, Minnie's personality, much like Junior's, seemed to have little to no derivation of their parents. I assume they take more after castle guardians like Pain and the skeletons.
Minnie is gradually coming into her own (not needing her brother to define her), but she still needs to find out for herself what that means.
She's never taken after her mother before so this is pretty much a necessary step. Most likely, she'll completely duplicate Mandy's personality, at least for a while.
Then she'll eventually get her original Minnie-ness back and the two aspects will combine to make her her own character. For now, you'll have to stomach a very literal Mini-Mandy.

Actually, I don't feel bad for Junior at all. He's playing around with his sister's nergal powers as if it's something fancy, thereby forgetting that his sister got fucking ripped to shreds for him, and he's such a DUMBASS that he STILL doesn't realise why Minnie could POSSIBLY be so pissed at him. I mean, how ignorant could you possibly be???

No, I hope Minnie's gonna give Junior a really good hard beating. It's what that shithead deserves.

Sorry for my language, but that's how I currently am feeling towards Junior.

Yikes. You don't like Jr, I see.

XD Minnie kinda played around too. It's more romantic that she used her playtime for flying around the moonlit sky, but Junior's a boy. He has different ideas of 'fun'

Also, Minnie quite voluntarily gave Junior her powers. Though she believed she was about to die- but then he saved her soul from Him- and stuff. She loves Junior (or at least at that time she did)

I don't think misuse of his new-found (presumably days ago) powers is why she's mad. I believe MIMI is why she's mad. And Minnie's kinda in the wrong with that because Junior's just concerned about Mimi and is worried about where-the-hell Jeff is.

But it might just be that I like Junior and his adorable silly little antics. XD After so many pages of staring at Chi, I'm relieved.

I mean, how ignorant could you possibly be???

Isn't he ten? I know I was ignorant as Hell when I was ten. XDDDD He's a little boy. And again, I find his cluelessness cute and refreshing. As such, you may ignore my pansy thoughts if you'd like. XDDDD

Then she'll eventually get her original Minnie-ness back and the two aspects will combine to make her her own character. For now, you'll have to stomach a very literal Mini-Mandy

I can get that- But yeah. Like Havoc said. It'd be hard to believe that she had her all for Junior and then for her to have gone through the process of 'getting over it' entirely off-screen. I hope she at least wrestles with trying to be a different person. Not just pulls it out of her barely covered zombie patootie. XDDDD

Though a combination of Mandy's 'sassiness' and good ole' shojo-cliche Minnie might also be worth the wait. XD just hope it doesn't take a year for us to see such an outcome.

Actually, it occurs to me. We never saw what was in that letter- did we even determine who it was from?

MAYBE MINNIE'S ON A SECRET MISSION RITE NAOW THAT REGUIRES THE ULTIMATE BITCHERY. 8D
