2007 Zelda Movie Pitch

Postby Wulfespinndel » Sat Aug 03, 2013 10:56 pm

Thank goodness it didn't happen. Directors really disrespect the source material by not even bothering to acknowledge it, because this looks horrible.

I don't know... it doesn't look THAT bad. I mean, shit. I certainly couldn't do any better.

Ganondorf looks like a teenager and Link's hair is a bit too Glossy... but, eh...

The makers of the Zelda series don't seem to give a shit about continuity, why should fans? I say it should have given it a shot as a fan film.

Well, I hate Links hair. Even though Links hair is supposed to look be kinda low hanging, I just don't like it. And Ganondorfs doesn't look like that old pig-like man that we've seen so many times before.

Yeah, I don't really see the problem except for Ganondorf's design.

If you read the video description, this is a pitch by Japanese animation studio Imagi, the people behind the animated TMNT and Astro Boy movies. Food for thought. Admittedly I didn't think it was too bad. The facial appearance bugs me but it's just a minor nitpick, yet for some reason, I'm still thankful it didn't happen though because it looks very absurd.

Normally I'm usually open minded about things like this but right now I'm having trouble coming up with my thoughts. I didn't think I liked Zelda that much, I need to relax.

It's movies like these that can kill video game franchises. The Doom movie is one example.

The Doom movie didn't kill the franchise.

The trailer only bugged me at the end where Link pulled out the Master Sword with his right hand when he wore everything for someone whose left handed, and is left handed.

The Wii version of Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword had two Links that are right handed. I don't think it matters anymore whether he is left handed or not. I just conclude that every Link has a preference, so if this Link is right handed so be it.

But in Twilight Princess they mirrored the world in the Wii version. Meaning that you saw him wielding things with his right hand, but in fact it was his left hand.
And in things like Smash Bros we always see Link wielding things with his left hand, so we can assume the right hand thing is just because of the wiimote.

The reason why he was right-handed in both Wii games is because almost all players are Right-handed, and you move the Wiimote with your right hand, so Link had to be right-handed for the sake of the players.

P.S. Haven't seen trailer, will do so later on.

They could probably make it so that in future Zelda titles, they might be able to cater to left-handed players by letting them use the Wii Mote on their left hand.

Then at least have the guy wear the sword for right hands.

He takes his sword our like Dante does in DmC and how Nero does in DMC4. And I'm sure Link is supposed to be using his shield on the other hand? I don't remember the Master Sword being two handed.

Hmm... I think you're right on that one. I don't think the Master Sword has ever been portrayed as a two handed weapon, always a one handed weapon that went with a shield.

Contrarily, good or bad, a movie is enough to get people talking about a game franchise thus people start playing it more.
I just love how people put commas, in places they so obviously, do not belong.

I don't know about you, but I love the Young Justice animated series.
So I became the 44,901st signer of this petition to bring the series back.

Are you talking about that scene after he gets the power up when he storms the base and goes FPS. I honestly thought it was a pretty forgettable movie but I kept wondering just how much of the film was influenced by the game.

I think they are, yeah. It was an okay enough movie, but that part made me giggle.

Why can't more movies do that? More to that point; why can't more game movies be tolerable?

I always thought that Link was ambidextrous. I personally don't see why it's so important to have him use any weapon with either hand as long as he can use it.

As for the trailer, it's okay I guess. But immediately I was reminded of the TMNT movie, which was also relatively okay. It really depends on how the movie will be told if whether or not it is worthy of the franchise. I don't think every videogame-based movie is horrible. I kinda liked the Silent Hill movie even if the game was insurmountably better.

Link's hair looks odd though.
