I played Assassin's Creed when I wanted a break from the games I was playing.

"Action RPG". Would Mass Effect count? That was quite possibly the one game trilogy I had the least amount of issues with.

Sacred Citadel is a good beat 'em up with RPG elements. That's the only game I can think of off the top of my head.

Action RPG?

Kingdom Hearts comes to mind. The 1.5 HD remix came out a couple days ago for the PS3 in English. 2 games for the price of 1. It has the story of a third game, but not the entire game.

Mass Effect does kind of count. The Elder Scrolls games count too, since you appear to be in the mood for nostalgia, Morrowind may be the name of the game. Skyrim/Oblivion for something a bit more modern.

Maybe even Fallout New Vegas if you want in my opinion one of the best games ever made.

As for a Beatumup, no idea. I haven't played one in years.

Pretty sure Diablo 3 fits into the category of action RPG. Played the demo on the 360. Wasn't bad, IMO.

Between the following two horrible choices, would you prefer to have your lifeline snap when hiking a really tall and jaggy mountain, or to notice you had a faulty parachute when you did skydiving? In both cases you die after realizing a vital object on your persona failed to achieve it's purpose but both cases also hold a few differences that makes this an interesting choice, what would you choose?

Falling to my death while rockclimbing, shorter fall, less time to worry about shit
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

Mass Effect is a maybe, but I'm looking for something more "melee" based.
But if I do ever decide to try it, which one is better, Mass Effect 2 or 3?
I can't play the first one since I don't own a 360 anymore.

I've actually already dipped into the whole nostalgia thing with some SNES games. I've been playing Super Double Dragon quite a bit. And yes, I've played played Fallout 3 and NV and the Elder Scrolls too. Just encase you where wondering.
The new Kingdom Hearts 1.5 sounds kinda cool, but I don't know if I'm all too interested.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll have to take a look into some of these.

I'm also considering hack n' slash games as well.

Funny thing about Mass Effect is that the story turns out much worse without imported game data. 2 and 3 have a DLC that allows you to make the most important decisions of the previous game to better create the playthrough that you want. The DLC was on the 360, and I'm pretty sure it'd be on PCs as well.

To answer your question though, 3 has the most diverse gameplay mechanics from what I can tell, and comes with online co-op, so in that sense I'd say it's the best. But none of the games are what I'd call "melee-focused" or "-based". However 3 did expand on melee combat compared to the others. I'd go with 3, but again, the story sucks if you don't import data or use the decision-making DLC.

I laughed my ass off playing it. In a good way, of course. It's one of the best "have fun doing random shit" games that exists, IMO.

I had more fun with SR3 than I have with many other games. The fourth one is great too, so far. They did a good job with the super powers, even if they do make general combat a bit too easy. Still lots of fun.

Does uh...

Does he have a last name? I just started thinking about this.

See, I THOUGHT you were joking, but the thing is it also had this very small ironic portion of it that kind of felt like it might have been true.

Eh, maybe he doesn't have a last name. I guess it doesn't really matter.
