Bolin as the Dark Avatar :3
We already kind of see him getting consumed by his fame.
He's also already a bender. So one less element to master.

Course with fire being the first element Wan got, seeing a firebender become the first dark avatar would be interesting.

Why would Unalaq merge with Vaatu?

Why would anyone...I'm seeing it as more likely Vaatu has somehow managed to get some influence over the outside world and is orchestrating someone to fuse with him, rather than someone looking to fuse with him out of their own originality.

The FAUXVATAR

it sounds cool because it's like. Foe. But also Faux.

Submitting this for candidacy as the primary way to reference the idea in the fandom. Building a bandwagon early.

So, instead of Vatu fusing and becoming a part of them, more than likely he would be the dominant spirit, seeing as Raava ALLOWED wan to use her knowledge etc for bending, I can kind of see Vatu taking over/subliminally influencing a dark avatar.

Avatar- Bridge between worlds

Dark avatar- Bridge burner between worlds?

Further more, would the dark avatar be able to exercise Raava's spirit from korra? Thus ending the line of avatars? Raava said their spirit was bonded forever but they could get away with it by having Vatu, or the dark avatar pull her out and having him say something like

" She'd never merged with another being before so she didn't know I could pull her out" or something akin to hi mhaving knowledge of how to excersise her, that she was not aware of

thus once again playing on korra's fear of losing her status of avatar, but this would be an end for everything, and all the previous avatars.

This is all extremely wide ranged speculation for the most part from picking apart the many paths that this could take

I think that Vatu, whilst maybe not able to split Korra from her bending, could probably locate each new avatar, hence repeatedly just killing them when they're around 3 or 4 until the humans are all dead or something, or keeping one alive, ignorant and crippled somewhere so Raava is trapped in him/her.

Also, if he won the...Whatever, that thing that leads to 10000 years of darkness if he wins, she dies or get's severely diminished anyway, so that could break the avatar chain.

Jeez I wish they would toss Tenzin a bone. This episode was just one disappointment after another for him.

Unalaq seems more of a willing participant in releasing Vaatu though the lack of logic behind it makes me still consider he's under some of kind of duress.

I'm not sure what is worse, the huge drop of viewers between the seasons or the boost from the 2 episodes where the main character is absent.

Sorry tenzin, we all know that you really want to achieve your fathers dreams of you going into the spirit world like he wanted but that's your daughters purpose. Having that sad back story and all made us think that maybe you would achieve that goal but nope. You can go back to being treated like crap again.

Korra should have remained in her "baby" form. At least then the way she is acting seemed more "in character".

I really liked the episode, especially seeing Iroh again, knowing that he was living happily in the Spirit World, helping spirits there. The only thing that seemed a little off to me was his voice.

I mean, I know they got another voice actor after Mako died during the second season of Avatar and he did the voice from then on, and even though he wasn't as 'Iroh' as Mako was, he did a decent job.

This episode it seemed like it was blatantly obvious that the voice actor was trying to sound like Iroh, but I kept getting jarred out getting immersed because I kept thinking 'Iroh is sounding so strange.'.

Anybody else, or is it just me?

It took more than 20 episodes, but Korra finally learned that punching water/fire/earth/air at everything is bad.

Let's hope she doesn't forget it by next episode.

I thought his voice sounded the same as in ATLA. If it was different then that could be because he was trying to make him sound even older since Iroh looked like he died when he was in his 70's or 80's.

I was a bit disappointed when the waterbender just revealed Varrick to be the one behind it. Had Varrick told them to say "Unalaq" instead, he would have got the war he wants. I guess they just have to wrap things up.

Also, apparently Bumi doesn't have any actual skill to deserve the position of a UF commander... he's just a lucky idiot.

In the preview of the next episodes, seems like Unalaq will succeed in fusing with Vaatu.

The bending battles are getting better, and I have high hopes for the finale

Watch the finale on Nick

The gigantic fight feels weird, and not quite as epic as when they were just using bending.

Can't they finish a badass villain without some kind of Deus ex Machina? Jinora just appear right at the moment when Korra was about to die, one flash, and the Korra was free, and the light of Raava appeared again.

And thank god the love triangle finally ends. I hope they don't just make Varrick escape without letting him return later.

Actually, I've seen an interesting theory about Jinora.

When Jinora ran into the statue of Wan, the glow gave her a piece of Raava or something, which she then used to jumpstart her rebirth in Vaatu.
