Sorry, just wanted to address this really quick, since no one has. (except for Jay, who mentioned Gir and his like for Invader Zim)

But as a formal correction, Gir is not an original character. Gir is from the short-lived Invader Zim show on Nickelodeon by Jhonen Vasquez.

But to get back on topic, I think everyone has valid points. The strongest point is probably the fact that Bell is an original character, with strengths and weaknesses that Bleedman was able to create without any limitations. As has been stated previously, characters from actual shows have to stick to a certain guideline, so you look at the comic and are like "Oh, well Dexter is cool and all, but I've seen him before." Whereas Bell is "Whoa, who's the white PPG and where did she come from?"
You say the glass is half full. I say the glass is half empty because some guy came and took a drink out of my glass, and now I'll probably die from some horrible disease like leprosy, but before I die I'll be shipped to an island to get electro-shock therapy, but it won't work and my arms will fall off and it's all because some guy took a drink from my glass! THAT's pessimism, my friends.

Most likly why people like her so much, beside being evil and cute, her hair eyes and outfit pretty much match and when you think about it wouldn't that look a litle odd?

The Great LP's rendition of the PPG as teenagers. Notice there's no Bell, and that's why the original PPG will always be better. (Bell still rocks, hardcore)

There's always a point where you HAVE to like the bad guy. Sometimes they are just so diabolical or cool that you would PREFER to watch the world fall into ruin. It's happened to me before. Kefka for instance ^_^

I myself like Dexter the most, cuz of the science... I am intensely interested in science, but I like the dark council too... nice little battle robots with minds, or that strange human-looking person they were with

Damn, len_geta. That's some pretty cool art. If Bell would've been in there it would've been complete though. Still pretty good. Bell isn't in there beause she's an original B-man character. Wish she was though.

I don't know why there are so many Bell fans, but I'm willing to bet that readers of Bleedman's work have a certain attraction to the aberrant. That is, they like it when the characters are "different" - not just from their original design, but from people in general. Seeing a young person behave in an adult way, or like a little psycho, is appealing because it's not something you see every day.

I personally like Bell because she's got issues that I can relate to. Just that utter, inexplicable confusion and hatred of something that you were practically bred to hate.

Okay, weird thoughts. Probably didn't make sense. Gomen.

It's alright if they don't make any sense. I just like her 'cause she's evil and like Sephiroth. She's cool in my books.

Craig McCracken and Gendy Tarkofsky are gods among cartoonists for me. They've created Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup perfectly. The colors, style, and how well their personalities fit together is all genious, and this is why they will always be better than any "original" character. Don't get me wrong, Bell is awesome and probly the best knock-off character that will ever exist, but she follows to many cliches for me to like extensively. Evil and the black/white colors are too cliche, every "cool" knock-off usually seems to follow that formula.
