Agreed on Empire Strikes Back.

Personally I prefer Godfather over Godfather 2, but they are both superb, so it's a close call.

I liked the much darker storyline in Godfather 2 especially how Michael ended up victorious but lost his entire family as a result of his obsessive need to complete control.

I thought the first part had the better mood, as in getting across how it feels like to live in a Sicilian mafia family, thanks to Brando portraying probably the most realistic and three dimensional version of a gangster boss, ever.

And personally, I've found Michael's inner struggle on whether to become a Don more interesting than his quest for power in part 2. But as I said, both are great.
