A few days old, but I haven't seen any mention of this here, so...http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/arch ... -away.aspx
I never knew that Nintendo started out making card games before they became a video game powerhouse. The man behind that transition was one Hiroshi Yamauchi. Shame to hear about his passing, I spent many an hour as a kid playing my NES, SNES and N64.
Also, one of Nintendo's composers remixed a couple of classic themes(Metroid and Super Mario Land) to honor his memory. He did a great job on them. Soundcloud links:https://soundcloud.com/hip_tanaka/dedicated-to-hiroshi

Yeah, I knew they made cards when they just started out. They were pretty much a toy company.
I have to say, I was quite a huge Nintendo fanboy up until Wii. They really were creative and helped to make the gaming industry what it is today.
Though, it seems recently they've had quite a lot of trouble, with going too far with wanting to be super innovative. Falling behind systems like Xbox and Playstation. Along with rumors of them not working well with 3rd party developers.
But I digress, it is quite sad, and I had not heard about this until today.
