Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about. The PS2 had a massive amount of games to pick from and play. I didn't feel like the PS3 was up to speed with its Predecessor. I'm afraid the PS4 will have the same problem, if not worse.

I think the PS2 was awarded as the best selling console of all time. I agree with Havoc. I haven't found a reason to buy the PS3, and I don't think the PS4 will do a better job. Unless they come out with a console specific game that catches my interest more than the Xbox.

Yeah, but that has more to do with your tastes than specifically what Sony is offering, I'm the opposite, I have seen no reason to buy the 360 and I doubt there will be next gen unless they greatly step up their exclusives. No console will ever be the run away success that the PS2 was, it makes no sense for third parties to limit themselves to one console unless that one console outsells both of it's competitors combine by a large margin.

Man the PS2 was a juggernaut in the gaming world! It released so many great games, and it lasted for 12 years! Nothing will top the PS2 and how much of a success it was.

Hell yeah, I can agree with that. I wish I played more games on the PS2, I played a lot of Xbox games.

But that happened with the PS1 and PS2 as well, Sony in both a brilliant and stupid idea leave their consoles out on the market for about 10 years. It allows them a steady revenue stream and a bridge through the first year or two until the next console hits it stride and will keep people on your system instead of letting it die on a vine months before the new system. But it also cannibalizes their sales, there were months that the PS2 outsold the PS3 and even sometimes every console on the market.
