Well it's not wrong to keep a cool head when you see dismembered bodies. One could argue it can be useful in real life, in certain scenarios which we all hope never happen. But yeah, it's too late for me, since i already visited the deep web.

I've seen some stuff in real life.

I don't like thinking about it, but most of the gore and shit wouldn't shock me.

It's too late for me.

WELL BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND.

There've been no bot sitings for the last few days, so I think it's safe to say that everything's a-okay. As far as I've been informed, however, we've still had no word from Dave. big surprise

It depends. It's easy to get desensitized virtually because there's no component of smell to it. The reason we have a reaction of disgust to such things is because dead things will be the site of deadly bacteria, and generally we are evolved to be disgusted by the smell of such rot. If dismembering occurs in front of you, you'll probably be in fight-or-flight mode and you won't be experiencing disgust, as you're pumped with adrenaline and the body parts have not yet festered.

SURPRISE

TOR?
Most of the deep web is shit. And places that are worth visiting are near impossible to find.

How do I tell if my consciousness is not actually programmed and designed to make me believe that I am human while actually being a bot in disguise? It's an unnerving thought.

P-zombies can stay. The thing is, if you're concerned about being a p-zombie, you're not one. Though you might still be a bot.

Philosophical zombies. They look and act like real people, but they lack consciousness. A convincing chat bot would more or less qualify since we would have no way of distinguishing it from a real person even though it would be following preprogrammed responses. If you consider your own state of being, you are using consciousness, and so are not a p-zombie. So even if Q.U. turned out to be an AI, he would still be a person and not the kind of bot we want to get rid of. Though we would not be able to distinguish him from a p-zombie.

What if we are all part of a simulation? If simulating reality in a computer is one day found to be possible, it is highly probable that we are all computer code, since a theoretical infinite amount of realities can be simulated, but only one physical reality can exist (infinite realities are possible because the real reality would have a simulation, and for that simulation to be realistic, it would have a simulation of its own, and so on ad infinitum). That means I would be submitting this post an infinite number of times, but all at the same time.

Naw, you're all just creations to fill my life. No one exists if I am not interacting with them.

So you're saying that your mind invented solipsism supposedly before you were alive so that you could teach yourself about yourself subjectively experiencing itself as the only for sure real thing?

I used to wonder that: does something exist if I'm not actively sensing it? And would it really make a difference?

@Geomancer: Refer to the concept of object permanence.

@Fievel: Refer to theory of metaphysical nihilism.

But unfortunately the simulation theory pokes a hole in this line of thought as well.

wut's solipsism?

Back when I made my thread in December, that was the idea that I was trying to convince myself was true.
