I would like to start out stating that I do not believe this goes against board policy of Spam, since its not unrelated to gaming and it has no cost I am just posting this because the games played by pretty much all warhammer/warmachine players and Our kind of gamer like this kind of game. (the game is free and is merely ran on a Free Forum)
The game is a Strategy game where Kingdoms fight to take control Of Renascent. Now the most interesting part of the game is that players design their own kingdom (write the story, create the units with a unit designer rule set) so its great for those who are creative or always wanted to play a race in Warhammer that had no book or has no book. The game of course isn't like Warhammer in that its closer to Axis and Allies and Risk as it is a territory grab game, Every territory is worth RP and RP buys troops, boats, special units, boats ect. Your Kingdom also gets to design 1 Special Character or as we call them 1 Hero which can be as strong as a Unit and have special actions like your special units. I have mentioned special units twice now and well I think I better explain what they are. Basically there is 6 Special units the first a Scout (which can steal from kingdoms and spy on there territories giving you exact troop counts, they also have lots of cool missions they can do like Assassination and Hinder Building) Mages are your spellcasters they can choose when you build your Mage Tower what lore to use from the following Fire, Water, Wind, Earth, and Death each lore has specific advantages and disadvantages but they give players even more choices that make their kingdom unique. The next thing are priests which can follow a different religion (there is several created ones but you can make your own too) His Religion allows him to cast prayers through Faith Points. Siege weapons which barrage the enemy before a fight, and flyers which can be used to fly across territories giving you the ability to attack the unguarded. Now this game is not just mindless war there is a great deal of political intrigue and exchange between Kingdoms, players can use special Merchant units to travel Castle to Castle trading goods with allies.
All in All its a fun game that takes about 30 minutes to 90 minutes of actual involvement a week to post orders and talk to allies, if you want to join just register don't worry about reading the rules just yet they are lengthy, but alot of it pertains to Creating Units and Heroes which is done once than never looked at until next game. PM Voltek (admin) for help if you need it once on Castles. after you register go to kingdom registration and register as a Kingdom or Hero, if you want to play. To Register the button will be top right middle thats to get a Username on the site. To literally Register as a Kingdom is here http://z6.invisionfree.com/Castles/index.php?showtopic=2543&st=0

Below is the map of the location we will be this time around. A Plea to all Kingdoms and Heroes, I King Rolf of Lancaster have an urgent request. My sister Queen Fiona of Lancaster wife to The King of Talendor Mindin of whom I hold in high esteem, but the recent trespass may change my view She has been taken by presumed enemies of the Kingdom of Talendor or perhaps foes of my own Lancaster. My Kingdom plunged in civil war with the princes of the noblemen my Father once united each thinking their own self deserving of the Crown presses me to not be able to send adequate forces to save my sister. However Kingdoms already have shown interest in claiming the torn lands south of Talendor, Renascent for their own may be able to find her as Talendor scouts have tracked the villains responsible to that area. Talendor is besieged by the eastern Kingdom of Grey Fork and the small united Provinces of Southern Renascent or Kell by the Barbaric Tongue. Talendor was attempting to give the Queen safe passage away from the Capitol which now is under siege, when she was taken.
You know each know the background of what has happened I will pay 500 Gold Pieces to anyone who returns my beloved sister alive. If she is dead we will also pay a sum, but I will not let myself believe that it is to much to bear. Please Lancaster humbly ask the aid of any who will give it. We do not care the means in which you accomplish this as long as she is safe. I sail now to Renascent with my Red Guard we will search aswell.
King Rolf Kloitz of Lancaster
The Game has just opened up Registration, dont be scared that many have registered as kingdoms, because it is a lottery system of who gets to play as one of the 12 kingdoms so everyone has a chance. Also if you do not play as a Kingdom or do not wish to there are options to play as a Hero for a Kingdom or as an independent Mercenary group that can be hired or just scourge the land and pillage kingdoms territories.
my personal opinion,a fun game,a great tiny community, and plenty of fun. those that like hammers game will probably be interested in this to a small degree.
<><><>A Short History and Current affairs of RenascentScribed by Yusef Priest of Orlando
Renascent or Kell as it is named by the original barbaric inhabitants who migrated their from the north before the Kingdom of Talendor was founded is a land of bounty it lies between the colder northern majestic plains and north of the southern jungles of Akatoor. For many ages after Talendor's founding they attempted to claim northern Renascent but the barbaric hordes fought hard and without fear to stop them and once wars with the eastern Kingdom of Grey Fork began Talendor was too busy to consider invasion.
The Barbarians always viewed Talendor as an enemy but on the arrival of Koh'Ghal Orcs an alliance with the Warlords was forged to destroy Talendor. The once migrating people formed upon their small villages large cities with mass armies being created from the once separated peoples Thus the Provinces of Southern Kell were born. In recent times the Provinces of Southern Kell have made dealings with the King of Grey Fork who has agreed to share the wealth of Talendor with them if they aid in its siege. Talendor had always been their enemy and with the Orcs, Minotaurs, and now Grey Fork the war was inevitable. After the failed attempt to take Danelaw for Talendors show of power and the death of King Josteph Darinac the newly crowned King Mindin was unable to keep Talendors superior power after several failed attacks on Grey Fork after thinking his father be to soft not to bring the fight to his enemy Mindin put his Kingdom in great despair and now they stand on the brink of falling.
A College of Magic was founded in these lands of Renascent the Mage Elders already looked for a good neutral location for their College and the Lands and the interesting whirlpool in Renascents North Sea was a good research project for aspiring students. The Mages remain Neutral in the war to the north as long as the Barbarians do not bother them Cities. Recently the Queen of Talendor has been taken I for one think the Kellians are responsible one of those infernal Warlords if not all of them would have a great bargaining chip in their hands if they had her. Kell's Warlords aren't all just big bad Mercenaries, the Order of Intrinsic Virtues led by Father Aden think of Talendor as the true enemies of good the big Kingdom has a heavy hand in the affairs of others and many believe that they should pay for it. The Order has good relations with the College of Magic and many monks have practiced there.
Kell also is dotted with several Gold mines that have only recently been discovered these may break the Kell warlords alliance or empower them. Also a Town in NW Renascent that is run by Baron Levi Stockenhiem Barbarian turned aristocratic he does not support the war like his brethren, but he does hold a substantial amount of the human race in Kell who see his side more than the brutish orcs and minotaurs. Baron Stockenhiem believes that power in trade and gold is everything in life the time of war is over, by no means does this mean have no army, but rather do not waste resources funding a campaign.
(OOC: note the map doesnt show the Castles of Kell (the players playing Kell races still have to pick the same as any other Kingdom) Assume the Kell players castles are there.)
........ (the page ends, but Yusef is hard at work scribing)
Topic 0: Quick Start Guide:
Welcome to Castles! If your reading this it is likely your first time seeing the castles site and you also may be feeling a little overwhelmed. Don't worry, the game is a lot of fun and is actually very easy. The rules are long simply to remove any confusion.
If you've never heard of Castles before, it's a nice little strategy game built on a web forum turn based system.
The basic idea is each player controls a kingdom and or a hero in a kingdom. Each week you post one set of orders for movement of your kingdoms troops on the map (or for your hero). Troops are tracked per territory. The game ends if one kingdom controls all the other castles, or controls 3/4's of the map. The game also ends on turn 16 if neither of the previous events occur before then, and a Leaderboard then rates the players at that time.
You can customize your kingdoms troops and make up any race you'd like that you feel fits with the medieval fantasy with gunpowder being a new invention (think early gunpowder).
Heroes also level and are very customizable.
In order to get started you should first register in the registration forum as either a kingdom or a hero. Both are a lot of fun, heroes take less time then kingdoms but both still only require orders once a week. As a kingdom you will need to read up on all the rules, as a hero you will need to read up on at least the basic rules and the rules on heroes.
*Currently Game 7: Renascent is Open for new Kingdom Registration. You can register by signing up on the site (if you haven't yet) and then posting at this link. Registration
The next step would be to read through the basic rules. It will guide you the rest of the way.
Once again Welcome!
