So I downloaded the Marathon Trilogy.

Postby Wulfespinndel » Sun Jan 16, 2011 4:00 pm

It's pretty good actually. As a Bungie game always is.

It's taking time for me to orient with this game because it's old. These days, as we all know, it's hard for most of us to play NES and SNES games. (Trust me, I played Super Metroid and playing the game was hella hard.)

I don't know how far I've gotten, but I can say that I got the Fusion pistol already. I could probably be almost halfway until the game's done. There isn't any need to buy the game anymore; Bungie made it free, and you can get it here.

Can't wait to mess with AlephOne after I finish the Trilogy.

"As she raised a glass of water, everyone exptected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she inquired, "How heavy is this glass of water?" The answers called out ranged from 8oz. to 20 oz. She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stress and worries in life are like that glass of water. think about them for awhile and nothing happens. Think about them for a big longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed - incapable of doing anything. Always remember to put the glass down."

Hm, I'm slightly curious about Marathon since a lot of people say it's way better than Halo in a lot of respects.

I finished Super Metroid quite recently and have no idea what you're talking about. Well, except the diagonal aim, that feels kinda clunky.

I finished Super Metroid last year.

I was playing Super Metroid on a keyboard, no kidding. I made the controls a bit like fusion, but it was kind of weird switching between powerups. That game's a classic though.

I got Halo Custom Edition for my laptop also today. It's pretty cool.

Oh and story wise, Marathon is better than Halo. The terminals in the game made Marathon interesting.

I wish Marathon could be remade. I love Durandal as a character. He's just insane.

technically, the next game Bungie was teasing after the Halo 3 ending would've been Marathon according to fan speculation and the fact that the planet that showed up is the one in marathon.

that might just be them rewriting the lore of Marathon since Bungie has always insisted that MC is not the same John as in Marathon.
A Pimp Named Jeezy Creezy: Lasting all the way up to Valentine's.

And the Pimpeth lord sat amidst his real ballin' players, the Apostles, and raisingeth his cup of Cristal as they devoured the grapes and cheese from the finest bitches in town he said

He wasn't named John, but it did mention he had Mjolnir armor.

My favorite part about Marathon is Durandal himself. I did some research and found out that as a center plot focus, he could be the main character, not the character we know as the Security Officer or Mjolnir Recon number 54.

Exactly. The player isn't exactly the main character. Durandal is the one who grows and changes.

Wasn't there also 7 references in the game like halo?

Marathon is basically the origin of my love for vidya because it was one of the few mac only fps series for a while. A PC version was originally released, but in those days Bungie was adamantly opposed to releasing games for windows. Times sure have changed, lol.

Marathon's plot, atmosphere, and even some of the weapons were all superior to Halo. Marathon Infinity which was partially not their work had an interesting level tree that could actually loop in upon itself if you kept finishing levels in the same way; thus the "infinity." There are terminals with strange, mysterious text people still keep trying to interpret today.

No fucking way.

I have to finish the first game now. I can't miss out on that.
