Maybe if you're starting out with games, you could maybe take some recommendations.
But once you've played enough to know your own tastes, most games are marketed well enough that you'll know whether it's you or not pretty easily.
There's always some surprises in store, but in general it's not very hard.
I've not bought a game I regret buying in a long time.

And I didnt take your reply poorly or anything, Rosso, I was just stating simple facts that it's not as hard as it appears. And yes, what I stated about Ninja Gaiden is true and anyone who's played it knows it. I believe I've broken.. 3 xbox controllers over that game in the past?
Also yes, for the most part reviewers are crap and there are a select few that I will actually trust (such as the guy that reviewed Ogre Battle 64 on IGN, which is a personal favorite of mine). Everyone has their own separate opinions, so should never take anything for granted. And THAT is why we have the beauty of Gamefly at our disposal, so we can rent games and try them before we buy them.
