I don't think they're in Arkham anymore.

I was hoping for a new main villain. I love the Joker, but there are other villains who could play lead.

It just me or does Joker in that trailer seemed a little worn for wear? I mean facially and that cough. Could it end for the green haired lunatic?

I guess this is literally right after the first game, a few hours or so seeing how the Joker is still missing a few teeth and is pretty battered up. Lol he has a blood IV set up too XD

Can't be hours after that, considering bruises he had already vanished. And the fact that Harley is free also gives that away.

Doesn't really take that long for the Joker to bust out of jail. Plus same clothes and stuff.

But hours? You'd think that after the beating he got he'd be out for a while. Plus, stopping on the close-up on his face you'll notice that those marks aren't scars but wrinkles and blood veins and that he's missing a lot more hair. But without really knowing what is right, we can only guess.
Also, Joker always uses the same outfit. If we could get a better view of Harley maybe we could see which theory is right.

Same clothes as in Harley is still in her nurse outfit. If she's not in Arkham anymore and it's not a few hours later why would she still be in it? (Beside keeping the gamer's hard ons.) And why do you need a better view of Harley?

And by few hours I don't mean two hours later. Maybe like 12 or so.

Cause wants to see up her skirt.

Maybe the trailer is just from an early build and they haven't redesigned everyone.

Better view of Harley could probably answer my theory of them being older.

When I first saw the trailer, the first thing I thought was "DLC?" because honestly, I can't imagine the sequel as anything more than just an expansion pack. Same game, different settings.

The total same-ness of all the characters kinda proves that for me.

And JEESUS PEOPLE, why can't it just be a couple months or weeks after Arkham Asylum, why does it have to either be two days or ten years?! Besides, it's not like it makes a difference, comic book characters don't age except in shitty revivals that no one likes!

Instead of making a new thread, I'm reviving this one.
The sequel has been named Arkham City, and some people thought it would be coming out this year. Sadly, it will be coming out on Fall 2011.

who the hell builds a maximum security prison in the heart of a city? Especially given Gotham's track record in keeping those criminals actually inside said prison

It apparently isn't that weird on the comic universe, since a similar thing is happening right now on the Marvel Universe.

Well this is what I heard.
At the beginning Arkham was just a plain 'ol asylum.
And then eventually its technology surpassed those of government prisons, more advanced and shit.
And they decided to send criminals to Arkham instead of a prison.

What Glah said is pretty much right, and anyone who played the first game would already know this. You get all the details about it from Arkham's ghost from the glyphs you take photos of.

Well, not really his ghost. Finding them all gives it away as to who it was doing that shit.

Anyway, they also mention another prison in Gotham through most the game. Forget the name, but the game mentioned the normal prison had become too full or something, so most of Joker's men had been transferred to Arkham. The prison for the regular criminals likely is the one residing in the city itself.
